I think that when Butcher first took over he got a bit of the manager bounce that normally happens when they take over and get a wee run of results, if my memory serves me correct even Brewster got this after he took over from CC. After that run Butcher has done nothing to convince me since that he is a capable manager.
Good post.
A very valid point, the "manager bounce" thing. It happens in almost every case.
It's highly likely that any manager taking over the reigns from Brewster would have
got off to a good start

Now dont quote me on this...but....am sure my bros mate, back in the 80s, had a 3.1 RS Capri (am sure it was) It was a cool car and the envy of many a young loon in the town.
It was Bodie and Doyle that really made the Capri cool if you ask me (and the RS2000 too)

Should the Queens leave the Highlands tomorrow with 3 points, Mr. Butcher will be getting pelters on here tomorrow night, not Malpas, and of course should we win, Malpas will be taking the plaudits.
A no win situation for El Tel.
Personally I'd prefer the I.C.T. manager to be fully concentrating on managing I.C.T.
-
Yeah, taking ages to load.
Strange thing too is that I only seem to be able to access this site by going through the official website and clicking on FANS then supporters website

Disheartened, I totally agree.
I feel Butcher, especially in the current circumstances, should be starting McBain. Too many new faces at the one time hasn't done us any favours.
I really can't believe Butcher has got this tried and trusted guy at his disposal and isn't using him.

I seem to be in the minority but I thought Russell Duncan did his job well today, Foran, Esson and Munro were the best though.
For me Eagles and Cox were poor, Cox did better in the second half but constantly gave the ball away in the 1st half.
Delighted with the win, but I'd like to see Rooney and McBain start against QOS next week.
-
I'd go with :-
Esson
Tokely..Bulvitus..Munro..Golabek
Foran..Duncan..McBain..Hayes
Barrowman..Rooney
Like the vast majority, I'd get Russell and Roy back into the team and get the
Inverness spirit back into the team. I think it'll be very interesting to see if Butcher
goes with this, it seems obvious to the rest of us.
I'd also be giving Rooney a much deserved recall, the lack of chances given to this
lad are frankly ridiculous, other players get chance after chance while he gets
very very little.

Hmm....wonder what direction the wind blows down at the Falkirk Stadium
-
I'll be there +2
-
Personally, I think dropping Munro at this stage would be suicidal, I know he may no' be playing 100% just now but Granty is one of those types who you don't drop.
-
only players i would take from killie would be: Alan Combe, Mehdi Taouil, Kevin Kyle, Gavin Skelton & Jamie Hamill
In fairness Craig Bryson has been excellent this season
-
Rooney is, in my opinion , our best striker.
I think, for Saturday, I'd partner him with Foran.
It would be tremendous if Butcher could develop a successful partnership up front at this vital time. I've said often before on these pages that I can't understand why Rooney doesn't get a regular start, I really thought Butcher's arrival would change things.
It may be that Morais would be a better option than Foran but I'd like to see us use Morais' pace on the right flank. Foran is more liable to be able to look after himself up front.

Oh dreary me.Football is about progression not misty eyed ramblings about a players past exploits.Give yourself a shake son-i take it youre young and have a pic o blackie on your bedroom wall. The guy is away.forget him
Had the guy been, as you say "away" then we may well not have had our night on Wednesday !
Whilst ICT have made Black what he is, it's fair to say Black is one of the guy's who has made ICT what they are.
Abuse him when he comes back if you want, but the vast majority of us will applaud him.

I was in the same position as you Bronson, sitting in thr Broomloan Stand amoungst "The bears" with my son. Although I should be the more mature one it was he who was desperately trying to keep me from blowing my cover !
When Rooney got his foot to a cross and blasted it just over I jumped off my seat, then gradually realised everyone in the near vicinity was staring at me
My boy (12) then joined the huns in a chorus of "we arra peepil" in a bold attempt to cover me :thumb04:
Regarding your thoughts on player performances Bronson, I think your being extremely harsh. The players played above their level, a fantastic effort.
There is no way a team of Inverness' stature with the quality of player we can afford could possibly go to Ibrox (no matter how poorly Rangers play) and come away with a victory having not played collectivily very well .
-
Just watched the highlights. They made it look like Rangers v Esson!. Looks like we had a bit of luck at last. Not a lot wrong with Rangers 'goal' from what I could see, and I'm amazed we were awarded that penalty, especially in the last minute at Ibrox! Well done referee. I'm sure you will get a good reception next time you're at Ibrox.
Anyway, absolutely great result. I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone played from those who were able to attend the game.
I was there CMIB and honestly they were all fantastic, they ran their hearts out, closed everything down. Not pretty but, hey, there's no way where going to outplay them at their place.
Ryan Esson was flawless, punchin when he had to.
I could go through all the players but I'd just be saying the same thing....brilliant !
A couple of weeks ago I honestly had my doubts, but after watching that tonight, there is no way on this earth that that team will go down !!!!
-
WOW !!!!!
What a stunning victory, made all the better by our sheer desperation for points.
Wasn't Ryan Esson brilliant, in fact everyman was genuinly superb, a really brilliant effort.
My only regret is not being amoungst our fans, I was in with the Rangers fans, and quiet frankly it was torture !
Now I'm away to pour myself an extremely large Grouse.
Altogether now.. SUPERCALEYGOBALLISTICRANGERSAREATROCIOUS.
-
I'm going to manage to get to Ibrox tomorrow with my son and a couple of friends.
Unfortunately, and I hate doing this, I'll be amoungst Rangers fans. Late notice so I'll have to buy a ticket at the ground. So I'll have to do the same as Caleylass did a couple of years ago and try and restrain myself when we score the winner !
COME ON THE CALEY JAGS !

Sorry Birdog, should have said premier representitives

In terms of songs we prob have enough to claim our own but we just dont sing them! I always thought that ICT should try and promote themselfs as a Highlands club and try to draw support from the whole of the Highlands as the only Highland Premier league team and maybe even try to promote the club at Highland games events in USA, Canada etc. They do play Highland Cathedral before the teams come out but its so quiet you can hardely hear it, turn it up a notch. There is a highland flag that we could start taking which is predominately blue as well, or Jacobite flags etc
I think there something in this Joe.
ICT could and should play on the fact that they represent the Highlands of Scotland.
-
Aye Kingsmills, Ted MacDougal, good shout !
Probably Scottish footballs most succesful Highlander.
I remember him scoring in the Home Internationals v N. Ireland on the Wednesday night before the disaterous 5-1 game at Wembley in '75. I'm 99% sure he played in that game too.
Also scored against Denmark in the European Championships at Hampden.

I don't think Eric Black (Glasgow) or Steven Pressley (Elgin) could be considered Highland.
I don't think the Highland line takes in Elgin and Black may have Highland connections but pretty sure he was born in Glasgow.
Stewart Houston Man u & Scotland was born in Argyll though
-
While recognising that desperate measures are needed in these desperate times, I do hope that when the current crisis is over, ICT will continue to nurture, and offer opportunities to our own home-grown players.
It has always given me great pride to see local lads making it into the first team and I would hate to see young aspiring trainees being forced to leave because all the first team berths are occupied by players whose true homes are very far away from Inverness, home being where the heart is.
Does anyone else feel that a partly local squad better represents the area, or are we all quite happy so long as the team is winning, regardless of the origins or nationality of those wearing the ICT colours.
(I emphasise that these are desperate times - currently I'd be quite happy to have the Brazil national team in ICT colours to get us a few places up the league table!)
Agree Buckett.
As well as all you say, I think it benefits the club to have as many local(ish) boys whom are really playing for the jersey as well as their living.
-
If we got bout 100k for him i view this as a pretty good piece of business for us when you account for the fact he was leaving for nothing at the end of the season
good luck to you Don
Totally agree.
In this day and age I think this a tremendous bit of business. I like the player but goin by this seasons form there is no chance that his departure could be the difference between going down & staying up

His nickname is Butch the folk on here got him muddled up with Terry " EL Tel " Venables and its stuck with some .
So why does he put Tel at the end of his txts ?
When he texts me he signs off Big Tel!
Terry Butcher and Diego Maradona keep it tame
Nov 20 2008
YOU put your left hand in and you shake it all about, you do the hokey-cokey and you score a goal, that's what it's all about, ohhh Diego Maradona!
Big Gerry who works down the JobCentre told me to kick off like this. He's a colonel in the Tartan Army and according to him it's the footsoldiers' version of the Hokey-Cokey.
As a fully paid up member of the" Tartan Army" I can confirm the song goes :-
You put your left hand in,
Your left hand out,
In out in out and shake it all about,
You do the Maradona and you score a goal,
He put the English OUT OUT OUT.
Oh Diego Maradona.....etc
There are a few other verses involving other names, like Thomas Brolin.
A sackable offence
