  1. I genuinely think that Terry needs to take a look at the situation with Foran as it's abundently obvious that his presence on the park does more harm than good. Not saying he doesn't have anything to offer but his tendency to attack his fellow players so fiercely seems to leave them scared to try to do anything just incase they make a mistake and have to face his wrath. He was far from without fault himself today and whilst he was quick to jump on others I didn't see him even acknowledge to the rest when he screwed up. That wasn't something we witnessed with this team when he was absent when the players seemed more relaxed and confident when out on the pitch and performed to their best as a result. Maybe he just needs to lose the armband and the power that comes with it so we can get the best of him without him having this bad influence over the others.

Totally Agree, I was right behind the goal in row B and heard Forans tirade after a set piece cross from, I think, Graeme Shinnie.

I am sure Foran is greatly respected by Terry but not I must say from quite a few of the team.

He is allowed to let is feelings be publicly demonstrated on the field and this behaviour is not encouraging to a team of so many young, talented and enthusiastic players who were showing great character when Foran was injured and the said Shinnie had the armband.

This is a team of youth and great character but that was missing from the start today, and after witnessing Forans attitude it is easy to see why we witnessed such a poor performance . The last Motherwell game was a turning point in our season, let's hope the same can be said after todays encounter.

  2. When I saw the title of this thread, I honestly thought it referred to us taking a dive into the SFL from the SPL!!

Hopefully, that will not be the case, however, to suggest that we consider diving tactics to result in gaining penalties is nothing more than big time cheating.

Let's concentrate in diving northwards into the top six and forget such flawed tactics.

  3. Just noticed this topic today and feel I can add a little bit of chronological meat to the Laurel Avenue history.

Lived my early years at the top of Bruce Gardens and left there in 1954, aged 43/4, to stay in the canal side of St Valery.

Laurel Avenue was always there when I stayed in Bruce Gardens, whether it was dualled I cannot recall....however, when I was a pupil at Dalneigh I do remember being frog-marched with my schoolmates, teachers and other locals to the central reservation in the said Laurel Avenue.

Why?... well, the reason for the break in our education was a planting of trees ceremony in that central reservation of LA.

There certainly were many trees planted that day, can't remember if other schools were involved because there was a planting every 10 yards for the full length of the street.

The reason the trees were planted may have been as a completion ceremony for the carriageway, so what year was this?

I think I was in my middle years at Dalneigh by this time, possible P4, which would make this 1958-9.

I also know the the houses, both sides, were well established by the time the trees were planted.

I suspect few of these trees still survive to this day.

    Interesting topic though, Charlie !!

  4. Of course it would be the correct thing to have both ICT and County fighting it out together in the SPL for a multitude of reasons.

However, how far away is such a reality?

Much better odds of ICT climbing up the table clear of relegation than County maintaining their heady heights into the New Year.

  5. Whew! That was just, well, beautiful!

Come on Tel. Gotta reconsider Munro surely. Otherwise, he's going to Aberdeen or some other club that'll be competing with us. He's not just SFL1 quality.

Totally agree, Granty fought for every ball and deserves a 12 month extension - TONIGHT

  6. I think Nick Ross is fantastic.

he's only 18 and he's improving well

I agree, as did the fans sitting beside me in the main stand this afternoon.

He worked tirelessly and will turn out to be a local hero in the long term, just give the young lad a chance, he has come a long way already.

  7. I remember going to Telford Street in the early 1950's to a Scottish Cup tie with my dad.

The park was absolutely jam-packed, I vaguely remember Caley losing 5 or 6 - 1 but I am unsure of the team, not an OF team certainly.

A few years later, possibly in the sixties, there was a big cup tie at a snow-covered (lines cleared) Telford Street against Dundee. I remember being disappointed that their star at the time, Ian Ure was injured and was sitting in the stand being overwhelmed by autograph hunters.

However, a lesser mortal, at the time was playing, his name was Alan Gilzean who went on to play for Tottenham and of course Scotland.

Dundee scored very early on, and indeed decided to take the foot off the pedal, and with 10 minutes to go before halftime Caley equalised, I remember right winger Freddy Maclennan either scored or made a big contribution to the goal. The place went berserk as we went in at half time drawing 1-1. The second half was a different story, Dundee won 7-1, so near but yet so far.

  8. From one Invernessian to another, thank you for your contributions to this, still embryonic club.

On the field you truly represented our city prior to the amalgamation, after the amalgamation to ICT you are the only Invernessian that, in my estimation, will ever have represented this club at both managerial level and as a player.

I truly believe that if this club is to be managed successfully it has to be from an individual with experience in the central belt of Scotland or indeed further beyond. There are problems enough in being a successful club this far geogaphically north, but we are learning from experience, and hopefully, with some luck in a decent managerial appointment we can still finish in the top six this season.

Thanks a million Charlie, and best of luck.

  9. Dods sent off after 14 mins, Munro back after suspension, the defence surely have one of their best days of the season.

Says a lot for next term, our well groomed defence can live without Dods and we have a new captain in Grant Munro.

  10. As an ICT fan with an interest in seeing a Scottish club do well in Europe, I tune into the live broadcast of Rangers playing Hapoel Tel-Aviv in Israel tonight and what do I see in the terracing but a red banner saying [glow=red,2,300]"INVERNESS"[/glow]

Well, the Gers were drubbed and yet there are Invernessians prepared to travel all the way across the Med on a Wednesday to support an OF team. Was it worth it? Na!

Would it not be better for these Invernessians to take stock and spend their time and money by coming through the turnstiles at TCS and support their home team?

Come on, get a grip, support ICT and we too will be in Europe that much quicker
