  2. Today the inaugural FFIT competition took place in the shadows of New St Mirren Park. To cut a long story short I would like to congratulate Inverness Caledonian Thistle FF FC on lifting the trophy. Unbeaten in 7 games scoring 18 and conceding only one the boys did the club proud. A fine display from the boys well done all involved.

  3. Couldn't decide which forum to post this in (ICT, general nonsense, Olde Inverness) so just thought I would bung it in here.

I was delighted to read this week that John Beaton was given the Merit Award at the Scottish FA's Grassroots Awards. Having played under John as a youngster for Inverness United and known the efforts and time that he dedicates to football I really feel that this kind of recognition is not only well deserved but potentially overdue. He is certainly one of the good guys around and there can't be many people involved in Inverness football who haven't had some kind of dealings with him. An absolute gentleman and I can't think of anyone who would have a bad word to say.

    Cheers to John :clapping:

    Ditto.

  4. I believe ....we are going to win the cup!

With Doran and Hayes on the flanks - Foran and Rooney up front we definitely have an attacking force to be reckoned with.

Defensively I think Hogg will turn out to be a massive signing for us. The cup is

    ours!!! BELIEVE!

  5. still nothing on Adam! The club are keepiing this one quiet.

99% certain I saw Adam Rooney's car parked in the car park of the Hotel at Broxden Perth at 630am. Maybe he was at Tannadice yesterday then on to Easter Road today.

    :rotflmao::rotflmao:

I dont quite get what you find so funny!?!

  6. Yeah I also noticed that a few weeks back when I was in attendance at Fit Fans - surely the flag should be flown all season in testament to one of the best seasons in ICT history.

  7. It has to August 1994, East Stirlingshire v Caledonian Thistle in the 1st Round of the league Cup Firs Park 0-2 with Wilson Robertson scoring CT's first competitive goal (i think) . Then a close second must come the 5-2 trouncing of Arbroath in our first competitive game in the Scottish league.

  8. What a crock of sh1t! (the calls for TB's head). It is one bad result, a sore one to be sure, but at the end of the day one bad result against a team that routinely comes 1st or 2nd in the whole country and wins more cups than all the other teams put together (with the exception of Rangers).

If anyone needs reminding, Pele, Robbo and CC all had bad results from time to time and the other - not so well-liked - managers CB & SB had more than their fair share of them too !

Butcher has one of the best records of any of our managers and has brought some cracking players to the club in his short spell here so far. He is struggling with injuries to key players right now and cannot simply go out and get new ones so obviously made a decision to field a somewhat weakened/makeshift team tonight because he is no doubt keenly aware that this weekend is also very important and he cannot afford more injuries .....

My sentiments exactly. Some people need to have a good look at themselves. We had a fantastic campaign last year with promotion, and this will be a fantastic season if (when) we finish 11th or above. Survival Im sure is TB's first objective anything else like cup runs are a bonus/distraction.

    Terry I have faith.

  9. Having done a little research in the night niether of the U-13 or U-14 teams reached the finals of thier respective competitions. However they were by no means shamed and indeed were given very good reports for thier endeavours.

    Results were:

    U-13's

    ICT 1 - 2 Crumlin Utd - ICT 1 - 0 Drogheda - ICT 0 - 1 Dundalk - ICT 2 - 1 Lucan UTD - ICT 3 - 2 Friends Select

    U-14's

    ICT 1 - 0 Crumlin - ICT 0 - 1 Drogheda - ICT 1 - 0 East Antrim - ICT 2 - 2 Shelborne

Thanks for that Alex. You took the time to research this info so well done you. Wouldn't it have been better for our boys development to have entered the sections which included the Pro teams? OK we can't expect to compete against the Man U's of this world mainly because of funding (which includes employment of coaches, facilities etc)and location but what a learning experience it would be for our boys. The city of Aberdeen hosts a tournament which now attracts the likes of Dundee Utd, Celtic and even Ross County but there was no sign of us competing there. I hope I'm wrong here but I feel we may be entering tournaments we feel we have a chance of winning and not pitting our wits against the best out there. I'm sure Charlie and his coaches do their best to get our kids up to a level dictated by the funding available but the the Club really has to take Youth DEVELOPMENT seriously and find some sugar daddy who has the means to fund this great cause SERIOUSLY! The club has made considerable progress over the years but we are still not producing any more kids, capable of playing regular first team football, than we were in the 90's. Charlie's department can only do so much with the money available.

Teams in bold are professional sides in the League of Ireland set-up. Crumlin United are a hugely successful Irish boys club similar to Hutchison Vale in Edinburgh or Wallsend Boys Club in Newcastle. In fact I'll think you'll find that they have produced players such as Mr A Rooney. I'm sure the standard faced by the boys would have good enough for their development.

Sorry Hiro but I don't agree. The League of Ireland is part-time. Boys clubs are all very well and I know they produce some jewels but we are a Scottish Premier League club and should now be ahead of boys clubs and part-time levels.

The standard of Irish youth football is definitely comparable to that of Scottish youth football. Although our two teams did not win their respective tourneys they did however give a good account off themselves. What you have to realise is that these tournaments are geared towards local Premier Irish teams winning and I'm 99.9999999% that the referees are fully briefed on this.

In defence of the U13 squad - I think the tournament started too soon for them. Two defeats were followed by three consecutive wins which meant that they just missed out on the finals.

Im looking forward to the tourney next year and another trip to Temple Bar!!!!

    Cmon the Caley Thistle!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Our stock will have risen a fair bit having secured promotion, hopefully it will help attract a few more sheckles for the shirt sponsorship.

Red Bull like to sponsor extreme sports, but we could do worse than give these guys a shout.....

  11. I hope so, I've used Ryanair frequently and (this isn't a misprint) they have always been excellent. One memorable time after a mate broke a leg/ arm in Norway, the gave us a row (!) of seats for 75p, helped me carry the sod onto the plane and were generally above and beyond!

You don't hear that every day.
