Because he is now under contract he is in effect an employee of the club so he will not be allowed to play until his work permit arrives. As a free agent there would not be this issue as he wouldn't be drawing a wage for it. Hope the permit arrives soon. He needs the match fitness and I for one would prefer he didn't have to get it during league matches, but that may be the case.

Maybe pair him up with Ben Dover?

I don't see why a striker who runs about a lot but doesn't score should be idolised. For me it would have to be Barry Robson. Quality left winger with a wicked delivery and a real menace at set pieces. Perhaps the only player/manager to have left ICT and bettered himself in the long term. He's the only exception to the ICT curse and as such we should do our utmost to get him back.
