  1. when abroad you have to cope with bilingual signs even when driving on the 'wrong' side of the road but in the Highlands bilingual signs put the lives of innocent people at risk, in your opinion!

Your logic is difficult to understand or is the Gaelic content that upsets!

The difference is AF,european signs are bi or multilingual for a reason so tourists and foreign visitors can be informed,Gaelic signing serves no useful purpose other than to kid on the tourists their is some thriving mythical community still useing Gaelic as their only language.Other than small pockets in the western isles where it could possibly be justified the dual signing is in my and most tax payers opinion, a waste of resources.

I'm all for preserving history but not for funding the futility of resurecting a lost cause.

    :rotflmao: :thumb04: :018: ;) :015:

  2. Cental Belt bias? Grow up for god sake.

I wasn't at the game today but my flatmate and several other friends were there all of whom said it was worse than any game they've witnessed in a good while, however...

Since Butcher has been at the club I think it's been obvious we have players who have the fight and the want to stay up, beating rangers, drawing with celtic and clocking up a few wins - granted with not always pretty performances. Yes we failed big time today but what no1 here seems to take into account that when you are in a situation of such high pressure and you start playing badl phsycologiclly it becomes VERY hard to break out of and I imagine ever player on the pitch is devestated with their performance today and will work their asses off to improve. Sometime you have a very bad day on the pitch and you just can't get away from it the whole 90 mins no mater how you try.

Yes, i know these guys are professionals and i know they get paid a lot because they are expected to perform but it's hardly as if this is the 5th defeat on the trot each with a dire performance. We fecked up a big game, okay but I think some people need to take a step back.

Whilst I sympathise for those who spent time and money going to the game I do think some peole need to put this in perspective instead of being a shower of pessimistic sods all the time.

Sh!t performance, let's look forward and hope we improve, i'm sure every single play at the club is gutted about today, now can we quit with the teuchterish moaning and laughable allegations of central belt bias?

  3. a young English boy was walking home from school one day and finds a kilt and he tried it on

he hurries in the house and shouted to his mammy look at me i'm scottish she said i can't believe you just said that and slapped his face now go and tell granny what you just told me, so he went to his granny and said look at me granny i'm scottish she kicked his arse and said i can't believe you just said that now go and tell your father what you just said to me, so he went to his father and shouted hi daddy look at me i'm scottish his dad shouted i cant believe you just said that and punched him in the face, well how do you feel now? the young boy said i've only been scottish for five minutes but i hate yous english bassas already

Jesus mate! You need to work on your grammar there! I hope you tell them better in person :rotflmao:

  4. I don't necessarily agree with Linton's comments, but I see where he is coming from - Yes i think brew's an idiot and i would like to see him sacked - however i also think that negativity at games has a clear affect on the players - which doesn't help our situation. I will support my team no matter what - and i'll separate my view of the team from my view of the board and the manager. So come 3PM on match days i'll be cheering for the caley jags even if I do think Brewster is totally incompetent.

I think part of the idea of a column is to get people talking and to provide an alternative view point - to play devil's advocate if you will and in this respect maybe the column was effective. Okay so maybe linton seems to be wearing then tinted spectacles but this is after all a column and not a factual piece. Yes - we've played some dire football recently and maybe it'd be nice to see some acknowledgment of this, but I do think some people are maybe over-reacting to the column.

On a side note - whilst the media's free speech is very important in society (vital in my opinion) i'm sure they also have to be careful what they say sometimes as they need to keep parties on side (to get interviews with players and managers in order to print material that sells papers for example). Sometimes people forget that papers cannot be too one sided because they have bridges to avoid burning - especially in a small town where relationships have to be maintained over many years.

    Now, let the flaming begin...

  5. One man comes well out of the interview, sounding informed, intelligent, confident and showing a clear knowledge of Caley's problems.

Anything fancy Charles Bannerman as our new manager?

I think Charles would be a more 'scientific' manager...

    Perhaps a little more 'experiemental'?

  6. maybe the club should look at forming it's own pipe band? I'm sure there's a few pipers & drummers in the 3000 regular fans that turn up every week.

Could reward them with some hospitality or comp tickets for next season.

Right here. I'd be up for that...

  7. He does that to give himself time to think about what he is saying. If I was dealing with the media on live TV/radio I'd probably do the same.

Aye - it's much better than hear smeone say ehhhh between every second word when they need to think about what to say next....

  8. Excellent result - gutted i missed the game but i had rehearsals that i 4got about (festival time means lots of work for musicians). Great that barrowman scored - hopefully that'll put pay to worries that he'll have a slow start to the season while he tries to find the net for the first couple of times.

Oh well, that's made my night...

  9. There's a lot of bad stuff happening at in the world (northing new there I guess). I'm just interested to hear people's thoughts on fighting that's broken out between Russia and Georgia - is there potential for this to get very serious?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7550354.stm

I had heard rumors from some mates who stay locally about Kenny Richey assaulting a boy up at Polwarth, and today I see he's been arrested. I managed to find an article written just after the assault http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/scottish-...78057-20654983/

and today on the BBC website:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinbu...ast/7549870.stm

Sounds to me like he's guilty as sin this time, don't want that to be any reflection on his murder charge, after spending 20 years behind bars you're probably not going to be the most understanding of people when someone owes you money but it's no excuse...

Also into today's news the olympics have started *yawn* as much as it's exciting far too much money get spent on these things in my opinion. ?100 Million allegedly spent on opening and closing ceremonies, what a joke.

  10. I have faith that Barrowman will do good for us this season and i still think we have a strong midfield. My only concern is about our defence, I just hope our new boy zadi can play consistantly for 90 minutes and just be solid, but i fear he could be the new zibi - shows some good potential training but makes so many errors when on the park, i just hope he proves me wrong. Oh and Tokey needs to get his act together, hopefully he can raise his game for the start of the season, he's not been looking to chipper in preseasons...

  11. Never at any other time do i find myself loving and hating Edinburgh so much as when the festival comes to town. So much to do but most of it costs money and the city is just so busy all the town and you can't go anywhere without getting flyered, this year I've been to quite a few shows, last night I went to see some stand up comedy as part of the free fringe at the canongait bar - it was excellent, Robin Ince is doing some stuff for the free fringe on the 20th so i'm going to catch that.

I went to Udderbelly a few nights ago for pints and we took in a show we just picked at random and went for a show called Tina C - a spoof about a woman standing as an independent candidate in the presidential elections in the US. It was the biggest pile of p1sh i have ever seen, but that's what you get for picking at random after a few pints.

Been to a lot of gigs as part of the Jazz festival, went to see Tommy Smith, Haftor Medboe Group, Laura MacDonald and David Berkman all of who were excellent and I played a gig at the three sisters on the friday of the Jazz festival as well which was nice.

  12. What I fail to understand is the comments below the video, No history. Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't a merger constitute two entitys merging into one in that they still exsist as a combined effort? Therefore ICT's history would include the historys of Thistle and Caledonian which can be dated back to 1885. Pre dating Celtic, Dundee United, Aberdeen and roughly the same time as Dunfermline (the three teams formed in 1885). Doesn't that kill off the argument that the club have no history as they combine the decorated history of two clubs spanning 123 years?

Feck me James, well written wee statement you got urself there  :clapping03:

  13. Rory was bad yesterday and i don't think he's cut out for SPL football, certainly not yet, I think he'll be outta here soon. However that's no excuse for booing the poor guy when he came on and every time he got the ball, that was fvcking shameful. A lot of goals for such a bad game however there was some hope there, Zander has got amazing ball control, Vigurs looked great and i'm excited to see Barrowman playing in the SPL....

  14. I love the rivalry, the songs, the jokes and banter with their fans but as  far as county are concerned we have a lot to be greatful for - especially in terms of players we got from them, some of them on the cheap/free transfers. I think it'd be great if they made it into the SPL (not at our expense though) it'd bringback the league derbys which has been missing for too  long - pre season friendlies arn't quite thje same.

On the other hand i think ICT would lose out badly if County made it to th SPL and stayed there -  we'd have essentially lost our feeder club, we'd certainly lose some home support and long term we may well miss out on some sponsorship money/deals as there would now be two top flight teams vieing for sponsorship in the highlands.

But I can't hold that against County - I think it'd be great to see another highland club do well and i'm not going to be the kind of sour grapes miserable git who is against them doing well because it would threaten our (not-as-well-run) team because of our failings as a club.
