  1. It's easy to understand how he would have stood out as a candidate during the club's interviews.

I thought the same having seen the interview.

My opinion is that the appointment can go either way. I think Butcher will be a real asset for us or he will be be terribly bad.

A great motivator though, hopefully he can attract some higher callibre of names as we've never had a big(well known) manager that can do that.

  2. I think Imrie has moved on from being a Div1 player. He's not quite the accomplished SPL player either, He's your classic Att/Midfield player who gets up the oppositions nose. I do think he works best with having a free/playmaker role and showed that on Saturday.

I can only think of 1 other SPL player who could have scored that freekick on Saturday ( Nakamura), let alone a Div1 player

    Keep it up Dougie

i'd add Charlie Mulgrew to your list .

    His free-kicks are frigtening!

  3. I don't see why it is such a big deal. Bruce Arena was manager of the New York/New Jersey Metrostars and the USA team at the same time. Guus Hiddink was manager of PSV Eindhoven and Australia at the same time. So I don't see how being manager of ICT and having a part time job at Scotland (a team that only have a handfull of games a year, some of which are meaningless friendlies), would hurt ICT.

Totally agree. There are more pluses than minuses for ICT in Butcher's Scotland connection.

Also agreed.. as long as the Scotland job doesn't distract him from what needs done here.

  4. Why oh why do we have so much negativity

too right. i see the moaners have already started up, before the guy's in the job.

Agreed. Perhaps not the preffered choice but lets get behind him.

I just hope that he gives it everything.

  5. You know he'll come out and re-assure the fans that he's going to give the job 100% commitment!

I don't think he will, pure and simple.

Better options we're available including Robbo who woudl have given everything to the job and keeping us up.

I hope the board know what their doing, because this is possibly the decision that could shape our long term future.

  6. I hate how we're kept in the dark.. As a family club, you would think they would make some kind of notice to let us know what is going on.

But instead, we don't even know if he is manager yet or not!

    Joke!

  7. Isn't it wierd how so many players that leave ICT fail to make an impact at other clubs. I wonder why that is! Browns reputation has fallen greatly since he left us. As has Dargo, Wyness( When at Hearts) and many others. Including managers.

  8. Who is all in favour of this!!??

with the climate now changing, may it be worth our beloved moving on with the times.

I know for for a fact that this winter has had its effects on the lower leagues of scotland with most games being posponed the last 5 weeks in the highland league ans has even reached as far as the premiership with fulham.

    thoughts?

  9. i'm worried that the job won't be butchers no1 priority! surely when scotland have games coming up he'll have one eye on that game. i'm goin to give him every backing(if indeed he does get the job) but i fear.... please prove me wrong butcher.

Just trying to think of other managers that have successfully combined International duties with club managment there must be few?

i done it in champ manager and done a bloody good job, but apart from that i'm struggling to think.

  10. aye maybe but is it not just motherwell they have worked together at? malpas has been his own man since too. i thought we might see a surprise number 2 but we'll soon see anyway

That's right - Malpas has just been booted out of Swindon where he was described by their support as the worst manager they ever had....

i don't think malpas is a god manager but a decent no 2 :rotflmao:
