  1. Absolutely nothing to lose here.

Give youth and those committed to next season a chance to flourish. Nothing to gain by providing any sort of platform for those departing.

If TB does this he has my full support irrespective of the result. Oh..........a Scotsman would be nice.

  2. Just been listening to Sportsound.

If I wanted to listen to an expert talk about being a centre forward, holding the ball up, finishing etc. I would be more than happy to listen to Billy Dodds. But..........why would I want to hear his totally tainted (word of the month I understand) and ill informed views on the processes of administration, liquidation or adjudication? Surely the BBC can do better than this?

Thought he hit a particular high with the 'investigate the investigation' quote

  3. If that's aimed at me Alex, I'll bite.

I bought five tickets, three adults and two kids. I was due to be one of them but due to the rescheduling of a golf tie (which I won incidentally :clapping:) I had to cancel. Chose not to forfeit the tie but could have I suppose. Did however make sure the ticket was used and made sure my best regards were passed on to those concerned.

  4. Perfectly valid reason for not being there.

Now what is the reason for no message or comment on his behalf on the day or in his pre match press conference or programme notes ?

For example- "Unfortunately I am unable to attend Grant and Russell's special day. No doubt they will get a fantastic welcome from all at ICT for the service given to the club over many years. As the manager of the club I am well aware of the just how highly they are thought of by everyone, staff and supporters alike. They deserve all the plaudits they get and our sincere thanks for the enormous contribution to help take the club to where it is now. Have a great day boys!"

I'm not that hard to please really

  5. Stand corrected CD. But what would you expect from a man who refuses to believe in the immaculate conception, thinks donkeys are for carrying wood, stables for keeping horses and that no one, not even Pele, could walk on water!

  6. Whatever spin you may choose to put on this thread CD it is perfectly legitimate to question his absence in recognition of the hugely important position he holds within the club.

It shows a huge lack of respect for players that are far more important to supporters than he ever will be, a distinct lack of judgement and ultimately, insults the people who pay his wages.

For me it is far more important than just the no show. The departure of Grant was appalling and never explained to the support. He refused to acknowledge that the testimonial was taking place in the programme or in the media leading up to it. He declined an invitation to attend. There was no message after the match in the hospitality or per match over the tannoy. Patently, he holds no interest in the history of the club or respect for these who have contributed. Arrogant and insulting.

Ask yourself this, if Brewster had done this would you be defending him?

I can't answer for you but am pretty sure that many who are on here defending Butcher the Ipswich, Rangers,

England and media legend do so because of his image, history and profile. Certainly not his performance and behaviour.

  7. Some of you really need to get a grip.

Excuses, excuses.......injuries, suspensions, posts, crossbars, referees, linesmen etc

Bottom line........not good enough, not organised enough, not coached well enough, not entertaining enough and not committed enough (absence of many today confirmed that).

Suggest that it is those who continually excuse, justify and blindly follow that needs to get a grip eh?

  8. We have little money as punters are no longer attending. Second biggest decline in attendances behind Hibs according to the Sunday Mail. Why are people no longer attending?

Suggest also that players like Foran and OTJ are earning more money than and other player outside Marius ever has at ICT. Also suggest that our playing budget is higher than at any time previously and know that our manager and assistant manager earn more that any of their predecessors. If you also look at he amount of money spent on people who have contributed little or nothing in Butcher's reign it is frightening!

That's what I mean about money being thrown at and by Butcher.

PS. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of money being spent on a reserve keeper when other cheaper local options were available.

  9. CD

Wee bit rich still trying to apportion any or the responsibility for the current situation on Brewster? Can you elaborate on the money that was 'thrown' at him in an attempt to bolster? As I recollect it was insignificant compared to the money thrown at TB.

  10. Why is challenging his decision making and asking for him to explain decisions deemed to be calling for his head?

I am not a happy clapper and expect value from those funded by the club. Nothing more, nothing less.

CAN YOU SHOW ME WHERE GMS WAS OFFERED A CONTRACT OF ANY SORTS?

And yes, with the information I have from Liverpool regarding his time there, his attitude, his injury (singular not plural) and ability I would have taken a risk. I am not connected like our management team but it didn't take too much to find all this out. Why couldn't he?

I actually know the answer to my question already. He didn't offer him a deal because he believe JH is a better player and will stay at the club. I believe he is misguided in both viewpoints. We will be talking about GMS long after JH has disappeared to non league English football again (league 2 if he's lucky).

  11. Can somebody work out £ (guesstimated playing squad budget) per point gained ? (I suspect TB is pretty good value in comparison).

I would suggest that he and Malpas are our least successful management team using this method of calculation. Even allowing for the Nicalue debacle. Suggest also that this calculation becomes even more skewed when you and in their salaries to the equation.

  12. Dougal makes many valid points which are hard to disagree with unless you are one of the 'see no evil, hear no evil' brigade.

Only points you miss Dougal are:

Tell us the truth about MacKay Steven. Did you really offer him a contract and he refused (despite agreeing to play for Airdrie for pennies weeks later) or are you that poor a judge of a player that you didn't fancy him?

Ian Vigurs, remember him? He's coming back to haunt us. What were you thinking when you let him go?

  13. As I've typed many times before on CTO, if only we had two hugely experienced international defenders in charge of our team we might be able to defend.

Abysmal against a very, very poor Aberdeen.

No doubt we will read all the 'he was great' or 'referee was biased' or 'we only need a break' or 'Tade works hard' or, worst of all, lots of posters typing I BELIEVE in big letters in a show of devotion and defiance. Similar really to the view held by Rangers fans that stating 'We Are The People' at random moments in time will save them from liquidation.

    Sad really.

  14. Take the point but if you look at the average home supports for both clubs then the allocation given to both is generous to say the least. What the system does is allow other, perhaps more genuine football fans who go to games elsewhere to get to view the showpiece game of the season. Don't really have a huge problem with the apportionment.

Why should someone who puts nothing into the game year in year out get precedent over a punter who pays into football and fancies a day out at the national final? Might even go myself as I fancy it'll be a cracker!

  15. Wouldn't rule Hibs out. Dublin connection and possible European football. To be honest, could be as good as it gets for JH despite the view held on here by many that he is Lionel Messi's long lost twin brother!

Seem a more likely destination than Tannadice as they have already signed Gardyne. And, remember, despite where they may finish in the league, Hibs are a wealthy club who can pay decent money.
