  1. Any thoughts on if any of the youth players are going to get signed next year?

I see that some have them have made first team in the new football manager.

Sutherland is looking good, scoring alot but what about the rest? any of them likely to break into the first team?

Football manager in general isn't the best bet. You only have to look at Tom Parratt on one of the games who continuously signed for a club for ?500,000 at least.

I'd hedge my bets on Dale Gillespie being the next on signing up.

Dale stepped up to the first team at the beggining of this season, signing a two year deal i think. he is too old to be playing for under 19's.

  2. <br />does all the money go to the player or do they donate it to charity?<br />
    <br /><br /><br />

the money goes to the player....playing for a smaller spl club won't financially set you up for life so to get a testmonial is a very sweet thing indeed...Its seen more as a nice bonus and thanks for playing for the club for so long.

  3. i think this is what we call a catch 22...if we dont offer barry another 6months then we're losing an experienced player who can still do a job as a sub....but at the same time if we dont offer him the extension then that's freeing up money that can go towards keeping players like blackie etc at the club....

personally i have to go with second option as the first option may be a little short sighted, although i would prefer to keep barry im not sure the club can afford to do both.

  4. <br />good to see Rory on the score sheet again - heard a rumour that some other clubs would be interested in Rooney ? hope its only a rumour <br /><br /><br />
    <br /><br /><br />

well i feel for the poor lad as i think he isnt getting a fair chance here at caley and think we're stupid not to give him one as i think he's potentially our best striker we have with wood second and barrowman, well lets not talk about him. if we do loose him we will be living to regret it i think especially if he goes to another spl team and ends up slotting a few past us.....

  5. Esson

    Tokely Proctor Munro Hasting

    Cowie Black Duncan Vigurs Imirie

    Wood

As long as the midfield all know their rolls and the defence keep their shape then we have a chance, i mean a chance of a draw, a win is possibly wishful thinking but you never say never i guess! and up front im sure Wood will throw himself about like he did the first time against celtic. black and vigurs especially, are the key players, we need to get them on the ball as much as possible so they can find the passes to cowie, imire and wood when on the attack.

  6. Duncan is a "must" away from home - but behind Black and Vigurs. Black could well be the holding and ball player at home in the future - but Vigurs aint ready yet.

why do you think vigurs isn't ready yet? what is it he lacks at, that doesn't make him ready?

i really think our best midfield pairing are vigurs and black. black is a holding player who can spray balls side to side and is great at demanding the ball of our defence and vigurs has the ability and class to rip apart a team with one pass. these two really could become a class act if given the chance by brew. i think they compliment each other when they play together (hibs game the two of them strolled and controlled that game). i think if we play that duo every week then our passing and holding onto the ball would improve enormously.

duncan is a good player but no match for vigurs when you have to consider how good vigurs is at only the age of twenty, and mcbain is mr invisible this season so definitely not my choice when it comes to the middle of the park. cowie i think is best suited further up the park playing just of one of the strikers so again i would pick vigurs over him. i only compare these guys to vigurs as i think black should be starting every game without a second thought unless injured.

so my choice is black and vigurs...our two most talented players by far with cowie coming in distant third.

I think that we have a few very good midfielders, the best pairing is dependant on what tactics we are using and players been played in the correct position/side of the park. Against Falkirk recently good players like black and vigurs were made to look ordinary due to the tactics been deployed

i think blsck and vigurs should be played in the centre of the park so i agree they have to be in the correct position.

  7. i really think our best midfield pairing are vigurs and black. black is a holding player who can spray balls side to side and is great at going short and demanding the ball off our defence and vigurs has the ability and class to rip apart a team with one pass. these two really could become a class act if given the chance by brew. i think they compliment each other when they play together (hibs game the two of them strolled and controlled that game). i think if we play that duo every week then our passing and holding onto the ball would improve enormously.

  8. im not entirely convinced its the right thing to start barry, i think its time for him to move into a coaching role, i think he has a lot more to offer from the side of the pitch than on it. we need to concentrate on playing players that are going to be here playing for caley past the end of this season. starting barry over a younger player that needs more games to get experience and confidence is a little short sighted. i have full respect for barry wilson and i thought he was a good player but i think its time for him to pass on his wisdom as a coach.

  9. --------------Esson----------------

    Proctor---Duff---Munro---McBain

    Cowie---Black---Vigurs----Imrie

    --------Rooney--Barrowman-----

I'd watch Barrowman very closely if he starts as I have a funny feeling he's fast becoming a passenger in our team. The fact that we chased this useless waste of space for the whole summer makes a mockery of our team. Get Duff back in the team and drop Tokely. Drop Hastings, and drop Duncan.

completely agree with you with you about barrowman. can't believe we chased this guy. the problem is though we cant play wood and rooney together as they are too similar so i feel we're forced into playing barrowman if we want to play two up front.

  10. Playing a 4-5-1 at home is fine as long as you have enough attacking support from the midfield. Thats why i'd play Black Vigur and Cowie. Imrie on the left, Proctor right which allows Tokely to get forward and get crosses in whilst being covered by someone who can defend naturally. Cowie should be allowed to roam from wide right attacking mid to just behind the forward to compacting the middle when needs be.

Allow Black and Vigurs to pull the midfield strings and get Imrie up the left at any opportunity to support the striker.

Play McBain as Hastings is not impressing.

Play Rooney as he is a more potent threat than Wood.

    yeah i agree with that.

  11. i would like to see duff and munro, i think duff is potentially the best centre back we have and i think he deserves a spot in the starting line up. people i think aren't giving tokely enough credit, i wouldn't drop tokes. its hasting that should be dropped, his passing is very poor.

  12. At least it looks like Brew is at long last coming to terms with the player selection - Gutted about Black - was waiting to see him and Duncan pairing up again.

How did the midfield five line up and play thereafter ? How did Rosscoe and Hastings fare ?

they did clearly miss blackie, lost the control of the midfield for a the first 20 min of second half. McBain not in the game whatsoever, Cowie was ok, Imirie a shadow of himself from last week, Wilson was ok. Vigurs was probably the only one that still put in half desent performance, his passing was pretty good as usual always on the deck but we definitely missed black no doubt about it.

after black went off it was: cowie playing off barrowman.

    Imirie Vigurs McBain Wilson

    cowie

  13. well i've been to all our home and away games this season, i would keep our two most consistant players in and that would be black and vigurs, i see everyone above has left vigurs out, have you lot not been to both home and away games, its crazy you leave that young kid out.

sorry just remembered...black a doubt for celtic game due to shoulder injury and proctor getting a second opinion on his ankle so he also is going to miss a few more games and possibly duncan too.

so here's my team with and without these players:

team for celtic without the mentioned players:

    Fraser

    Tokely Munro Duff Hastings

    Cowie McBain Vigurs Imire

    Rooney Barrowman

team for celtic with all players available:

    Fraser

    Tokely Munro Duff Hastings

    Cowie Black Duncan Vigurs

    Imirie

    Rooney

  14. defenders shouldn't be launching in tackles the way they were so i agree with caleyp. i wouldn't expect our defenders to do the same as it's just wreckless play. wreckless play derserves to be punished.

  15. Lets face it - none of us have a clue !!

    Brew may plump fer:

He will then play Cowie and Imrie on the wrong wing, hook Rooney before Wood and play McBain in front of Black. I am afraid that playing two up front end up in the hoof tactic.

    Me:

    Fraser

    Maguire Duff Munro McBain

    Vigurs Cowie Black Duncan Imrie

    Rooney

That leaves us with loads of options to change it.

yeah i'd like to see that line up...thats possibly the best line up we could field with like you said plenty of options left.

  16. I was never a big Bayne fan but he would be better than Barrowman, Wood and Rooney put together. Apart from the goal the defence was OK, and so was the midfield up to a point, but **** knows where we're going to get any goals this season. Imrie looked a div 1 player as usual. Anybody thinks we can function without Russell Duncan can borrow my specs.

I haven't seen the table yet but I'm sure it won't make good reading.

7th, but i think only 3points above bottom...possibly 4 points. then again we're only couple of points off 3rd 4th. very close still. going to be a tight season i think.

imirie and barrowman aren't SPL quality...why cant brew see this.

  17. Wilson played the entire 90 minutes in the reserve match on Tuesday and was running up and down the wing just as effectively as he ever has. Prior to Tuesday I might have agreed with you, but I've revised my opinion and think he would be more than capable of 60 minutes, and more.

thats good news then...well hopefully he hasn't burnt himself out for sat due to the res game. :rotflmao:
