  1. It's nonsense to tip any player as a star of the future, you can never tell how they will develop.

Wasn't so long ago ICT fans were talking up Scott McLean as a future international. More recently Blackie was being hyped up as a premiership superstar in the making lol. How about Brian McLoughlin at celtic, Sandy Robertson at Rangers, or Burke and Bagan at Killie? :rotflmao:

Good young players don't necessarily go on to become great players. Some never really get any better, some go backwards (Jason Young one time Livi's star player, now in the juniour leagues)

On the other side of the coin you have late developers, solid players who don't particularly stand out in their early years but keep improving; Craig Brewster didn't become a professional footballer until his mid twenties, Billy Dodds earning a move to rangers late on in his career is another good example.

How a player develops probably has more to do with their work ethic and IQ than with their natural ability.

work ethic yes...IQ a BIG no. IQ does not come anywhere near football when it comes to playing the game. yes your correct in saying you can never tell but its certainly not nonsense to tip a player...i've seen iain vigurs play since he was 10 years old, i tipped him then...look where he is now. he isn't gonna stop here and now. why do people in scotland find it hard to praise young players.

its hard because theres been so many tipped younsters who have never made it

i went to school with a few boys who have gone onto play for spl clubs or scotland...stephen cosgrove (ex man u and motherwell) now playing juniors, stephen crainey who has had 5-6 appearances for scotland but nobody even mentions him now that hes at blackpool and charles mulgrew, was a good player back then and doing well now, even if he is aberdeen hope he does well but all they wanted to do was play football when they were younger and have put in the hard work...but usually they have somthing to fall back on incase they dont make it

but i could have said several more names who were on par or better than them, but just faded out as they got older or realised football is not a guaranteed future and then went on to uni etc...

  2. think the 31st ocotber is just a guess by a few shops with last years been released on october 19th...but i doubt it will be september, si havent even released any information about the game and there usual teaser screenshots

  3. The strips look good yes, But my only problem is that again we are trying to refer to our past teams, when we are suposed to be aiming forward with this one. I appreciate it was a good time for scotland. But we need the strips to be unique to us now, so that any of this teams success can be assosiated with the strip, just like from back then.

lost to see what a strip design has with us looking forward or suggesting we are trying to refer to past teams, not much you can do with a blue top? whatever the players wear doesnt make any difference

the strips a vneck but doesnt have a collar, white parts are actually sewed into the strip but gives the illision its a collar/polo shirt

  4. You dont normally get much coverage on BBC website, Monday night will be the one to watch for longer highlights.

same crap highlights on the site that will be played later tonight, exact same as was on setanta

  5. Haven't Sony stopped producing them? Including the software to run old PS games was costing too much.

yeh i forgot to say that, only console in production is the 80gb...sony say it is to keep the costs down, but more like they seen the ps2 was still selling here so decided to take the feture out the ps3, considering its still on the ntsc version

anyways i wouldnt bother with the ps3 and get a xbox360, then update the firmware :thumb04: :rotflmao:

  6. the 80gb wont come with backward compatibility, try and get your hands on a 60gb version, its the only one that has ps2 compatibility, although not all games work as the emulation is software based

  7. Fast Reply now enabled - depending on your settings you may also need to go to your profile (my controls) and edit your board settings to enable it.

aslong as you enable it in admin it will be there, options in user control panel just let it be displayed rather than pressing the fast reply button then its displayed...but that doesnt really matter, cheers for putting it on :rotflmao:

scarlet you will get used it it...by far best forum software imo

  8. well said alex

typical spl...yes it might look bad, a non spl team gettin into europe and they wont do anythin but neither would majority of spl teams

its money for teams and gettin to final of sc is a big bonus especially if team has already qualified...seem to remember ict being in a similar postion (if they won, year they played dunfermline i think??) and i doubt you would have complained

  9. another great video...i remember that week very well. I think we had Clyde on the Tue or Wed and Saints on Sat. Was it not the Clyde game that Partick Thistle fans turned up to support us. I always felt sorry for Partick...dont think they evenr believed ICT would be allowed into the SPL

    happy days...thanks for the post

nah clyde game was a saturday and yeh some partick supporters turned up thinking that if caley won the league they would stay up  :023: remember the game well, not only for the result but 30 odd clyde fans singing i was a w*nk  :015:

wilsons 30 yard volley against motherwell in the scottish cup was a cracker aswell, think it was 2004?

  10. Have to agree with him. My eldest attends Glenurquhart high school and this is a problem with some of the boys. They want to play for their school but if signed ICT players are not allowed. Does anyone know when this rule came about. I went to the High School in the late 70's and several players played for Caley, Clach and Thistle and the school team. Does it only apply to SPL teams?

yip it only applys to spl teams

Thats not strictly true. When I was at school (Left 2002) ICT and County put a lot pressure on boys not to play for the school. It only started around the time we got promoted to the 1st but basically it was along the lines of 'if you play for the school you can't play for us'. It was never a problem for Clach, even when I was in 5th/6th year.

yes it is true...when you were at school the teams could say to there players but it wasnt a rule plus it only applys to the spl, think it changed in bout 2002-2003
