  1. Wee bit too much thinking going on. Reality is guy has only been in the job a few games and needs to be cut a wee bit slack. Our squad will always be thin if we want to have good players in it - he doesn't have a great deal of options to improve the team but what he does have is two youngsters for free who seem ready for the next step now.

There will be a time to judge him but that's not right now IMO. Needs an assistant pronto though and should be his own man.

  2. Lots of cash being tied up on long term deals and just hope that the board are careful they are only offering deals to players we would find hard to replace. We can look to replace 3 or 4 first teamers each year especially as we have Christie and polworth making the breakthrough this year. We need to continually improve and should be wary of being too generous to journeymen pros that should be able to be replaced fairly easily at the end of the season.

  3. Way too early to judge whether he is going to be a success or not but he has made decisions already eg continuing to play shinnie at rb and Williams starting the last few games as well as adopting a change of approach for the defence to play a bit more. To paint him as an almost casual observer is a bit condescending. He is also responsible for the half time turnaround against Aberdeen and hopefully our next win against motherwell. He is the manager now and he runs the team not terry butcher, the chairman, Ritchie foran or any of us on here.

I still think he can be a success and don't lose sleep when we have a sticky period, which we have had a fair few of in the past. I'm still behind him until he has been through a couple of transfer windows or we become atrocious.

  4. Good luck Yogi and welcome to the ~Highlands. Let's maybe judge the boy after he's been here a while eh even if he isn't most people's first choice (not mine I must admit). The Butcher thread prior to his appointment suggests the board have a better track record at choosing managers than us posters.

Who knows, it could all go tits up but it might, just might now, be a great appointment but we will only be able to see that when he has put his mark on the team. By all accounts he is a top bloke and deserves a chance.

  5. 9 points ahead of this stage last season and 10 goals less conceded. The facts are starting to speak for themselves and I no longer feel like I am tempting fate when I make predictions for Europe/top 2. It might not be pretty at times but good teams win ugly. I think the players also believe it now and we fear no-one. We have a bit more strength in depth too this year and leaders all over the park. Can't wait for the next game and building on our winning run.

  6. Are you stevie in disguise......................................................

Are you IHE? Can I ask Alex, why don't you like him? And if all of these contacts are Terry's why weren't they used in his previous jobs? Just annoys me that we can't let anyone go without slagging them off, shows no class. It's just a difference of opinion and mine just happens to be the right one.

Capital Caley - hashtag seething is something used on P&B by posters who have lost the argument (cue hashtag seeting from another genius).

  7. Try not to be affected by the rambling a of a co-dependent. Nobraininhead has evidently become part of the cult following. Marsella picked up some good and bad journeymen and knew the English lower league scene well - that will be missed unless we pick up somebody willing to travel to where the market is. That will be cheaper than Marsella who spent more on food than Grasser did on rounds in the Heathmount.

You are also correct in keeping comments by others - especially players and stadium staff - in confidence and do not allow a cyber bully to upset you.

NoBrainInHead, nice one. Google can't be working if that's the best you can come up with, doesn't compare well with your usual plagiarised babble. Cheap shot hiding behind imaginary sources to blacken someone's name when he left, especially someone who worked as hard as Steve. Butcher and Malpas are fair game but really what has the boy done wrong apart from attract some good players with eff all money. Would be nice if he could just leave on good terms and I would welcome him back anytime.

Loved your comment about his eating, now if he was chinese you could have used your full 1970s stand up routine. Disclaimer: no internet research/cut and paste was used in the creation of this post.

  8. From what I gather Marsella didn't 'find' the players.  He was sent down South to look at players that had been recommended by certain agents.  They were found for the club and Marsella was the man to go and watch them.  He'd then report back to the club.  Plenty of footballing people could do that job.   Not as big a loss as some people think.

I think that's a bit harsh on Steve. He has incredible contacts in the game built up over many years and Inverness have benefitted from those contacts. Let's not blacken the boy's name, he done a great job and pathetic comments about unpopularity amongst the players now he is gone is pretty low. It's not unthinkable that he would work up North again and I would rather it was in a place where he would feel welcome and this thread is starting to develop a nasty little feel to it.

To say he was unpopular without naming names to back it up is also a little cowardly as the boy can't speak up to defend himself. He worked like a dog for Inverness and really loved his job here. If he rattled a few cages on the way, so what it's not a popularity contest.

If anyone could do his job then why don't they? Come on Steve Marsella should be a hero here, he has done nothing wrong in my opinion.

  9. Never knew that Judas had family in Derby. I would actually have accepted this if it had been a team with potential and a rival in our own division, that it didn't happen in mid season when we are going along nicely, that it hadn't ended in such disgraceful circumstances. If it had been me I would have waited until the end of this season and looked for a bigger team with more potential. But I an not at the same level of narcissism and I don't have the future Sevco job in my sights.

    Ouch

Honestly , I thought TB should stayed , won a league Cup (very possible) and he would have become an iconic figure in ITCFC history.

Don't give in to this narcissist Dave, the most successful manager in ICT history and he is treated like he went OTB with the whole team. IHE likes to portray himself as a little deeper then the rest of us but then he makes unintelligent comment and throws words like judas around to describe a boy changing jobs - genius (hardly the same as giving up the Big Man was it IHE?).

Now everythings obviously fractured , opinions divided , reputation scarred to a degree and a bloody good job , well done , possibly forgotten ,

  10. A unique selling point of our club is to offer a springboard to attract better players to our club before possibly moving to financially bigger clubs. Terry and co ensured that almost all of our best players received (for us) relatively long contracts and most of these guys are still available into next season. Don't be naive to let others take the credit for this. He has left us in a great position whilst himself benefitting from this opportunity to move to a financially bigger club.

I remember when Grant Munro came back with County to play against us and people were boo-ing him - absolute disgrace. I have yet to see an ex ICT player get anything but a cold reception when they come back to play against us. Come on guys, this is football and those three who have just left deserve to use up all of their substantial credit on a more gracious farewell and less hand wringing and faux outrage. Let's be a big club who respect those who done good by us so good luck guys, as long as you finish below us and above County you are welcome back to MY Inverness anytime.

I changed jobs recently to a bigger organisation with more pay and didn't tell my boss until it was a done deal - why would I. Because I did a good job he wished me luck and told me I was welcome back any time. We have ALL done the same.

Anyway, Ross Jack as assistant manager and Robbo as manager for me.

  11. Just for accuracy that wasn't petrie it was his agent. Just saying like.

    Oh My!

"Oh, what a tangled web we weave others to deceive."

Terry could not  come back now after all this  mayhem even if he wanted to.

His credibility is now forever shattered. Just sitting in the stand alongside Mr Petrie before the ink is dry on  his new contract and, officially, all is not yet done and dusted is a major faux-pas IMHO.

He's crossed the Rubicon and I only hope the Board of our club sock it to Hibs  with a hefty transfer fee being demanded.

    .

What an altogether ,hasty, messy business this has proved to be.
