Them and Falkirk will go on a run both bought wisely in January ! McDonald's a great signing for them get balls in to the box and he'll put it away! He's what wev been needing for 2 seasons!

He was only ever going to join a central belt side due to his location, am surprised Hamilton, Killie or Livi didn't approach him because he said he believed he could play at a higher level than the championship and was probably the fittest he's ever been but no one came in for him other the PT.

  2. I think anyone would take promotion even if it meant relegation the following season just for the cash injection it would bring. Don't think there is any chance of the youngsters being risked for as long as the playoffs remain a possibility. The club were able to introduce Christie at an early age not just because of his ability but because the team was full of good professionals who could cover for him if things didn't go well. He was also playing in a position where a mistake was not going to be disastrous. This league doesn't tend to be won by a team full of youngsters which is why Ayr's performance has been  excellent although, they have had a couple of years of playing together and an outstanding centre forward.

Part of our problem is attracting players of the right quality, we need a scouting system similar to what Butcher had finding young rough diamonds in the lower reaches of the English leagues who are prepared to come to Inverness and work for a pittance in the hope it will further their football careers.

Not crazy by any means Alan, bit of a coup getting McDonald on the books I think any championship side would be glad to have him, assuming he stays healthy of course.

On the Angus Beith question , Im up tomorrow and will ask Robbo what the outcome is but from what I ve been told in the past is that there was a recurring injury which was expected to clear up but just hasnt up to now so it doesnt look good for the lad.

I ll ask John to clarify the situation when I see him.

The other question that was asked was George Oakley. The club was between a rock and a hell of a hard place.  We did not want to lose him but contract up in the summer and he wanted to play SPL football for Hamilton and it was one of his old gaffers that he knew he was going to......we were buggered ! Sad , cos I really liked him.  He gave 100%, when he was on the pitch.

You've just clarified two questions members on the forum have been asking how hard was it? All supporters want is to know what is happening at their club.

I have a question also, why wont the club open the west as a standing area again.

some prefer to stand especially those with dodgy joints rather than being shoehorned into a seat next to someone you don't know

For those who do not get to enough games to justify a season ticket much simpler to turn up and pay at the gate.

Camaraderie is built up in standing areas where you can share views with like minded supporters whom you see every week.

Generates a better atmosphere to have supporters on three sides (am ignoring the away end)

    Don't need sunglasses in winter

Give away free west vouchers with club merchandise purchased, we don't lack space

Make it free for u16's with a guardian could be an adult ticket you wouldn't otherwise get. I seem to recall when we were last in the ist Div that kids under a certain age did get in for free though I may be mistaken about that.

I may be recalling the past through rose tinted specs but I seem to recall the atmosphere at the stadium was far better when it was all standing, the quiet part of the ground was the main stand.

I was 'havering' about the league , you plank. You obviously can't read that well. Cup successes irrelevant in this case.

The rest of the league could quite reasonably expect to aim high with three big clubs missing.

Luck played it part in the cup runs (and meekings hand), with a lower league team giving us a bit of a scare in the final - the rest is history.

Don't read too much into budgets and where that should place you in the league, our problems began when we had a bigger budget that was squandered on some terrible 'professional's.

Fortunately,  for john, his team was already well established when he arrived..

"Don't read too much into budgets" you are clearly the "plank" is it just coincidence that the most successful teams in almost all leagues have the highest budgets?

It's amazing how aspirations are affected when there are no teams from Edinburgh or no sevco in the top flight.

Without them everyone could aim for 3rd or 4th place, irrespective of budgets.

What are you havering about? we beat Sevco 3-0 on their own midden in the league cup and hearts, you can only beat what is in front of you we finished 3rd only Celtic and Aberdeen were more consistent, clubs with massively greater budgets so don't rubbish the club's achievements. Oh I nearly forgot,we also won a cup that year beating the top team on the way.

Hughes was on a downward spiral which has continued since he left. The mistake was not to sack Hughes who had lost the confidence of just about everybody.

So our current predicament is Hughes fault according to your logic, not Foran's or the board's, now that is revisionism. Where is the proof that Hughes had lost anyone's confidence? As far as I can see Hughes got results we had no right to get during our injury crisis which was serious and after losing our best players. We would not have been relegated under Hughes even with our depleted resources and I had no problem with him trying to get additional funds for the team which was after all his job and with which I agreed. The board displayed a petulance and small mindedness in sacking him. You may not like your employees moaning or whining but if they are central to your company/club you roll with it without necessarily giving ground.

The revisionist versions of how Hughes left the club are astounding.

There is nothing revisionist about it, its a hard fact to accept I Know, but If that belief consoled you through our relegation and slump into mediocrity then I'm happy for you. Hughes knew another striker was a must he lost two in 6 months the board chose to appoint an inexperienced yes man in his place and paid the price, the error was confirmed by the resignation of our Chairman, what is revisionist about that?

Most successful teams have a way of playing, be it a settled team, formation or tactics. For the last few seasons, it's hard to know which way we are going to play from game to game, is it going to be long ball, play narrow through the middle or stretch the opposition back line by playing wide.

We had that remember? the fans didn't like it, we sacked a proper football manager (which many on here called for) and appointed a rookie in his place, we got what our actions deserved now we are a skint championship mediocre club, get used to it we have been a lot lower than this.

It's another poor show by the SFA but a boycott will achieve nothing other than depriving the club of revenue and the fans of watching what could be a highly entertaining match.

Then don't complain when asked to turn up at stupid o'clock in Glasgow or Edinburgh for an important match like the league cup final or the SC semi. The fans are being taken for mugs by the SFA and TV execs. A boycott might actually wake up other supporters and may even get the club's backing if the grievance is aired correctly. These two matches were scheduled for a kick off before any train from Inverness could arrive in Glasgow on the day. The Sun newspaper actually subsidised the buses for the league cup final because Sky were panicking over no ICT support turning up and ruining the  TV spectacle. The supporters have more power than they think. A televised banner in an empty away end telling the SFA what we think of them would have quite an impact I think, not to mention the newspaper coverage, football podcasts etc.

The club will be deprived of my revenue because I will not be making the 9hr round trip on a Monday evening.

The main issue is why it's Monday at all...ties were supposed  to be on the weekend of the 9th/10th.

Monday 11th ticks neither of those boxes.

    I predict a riot.

I would love to predict a no show, make it a visual disaster by having no away support and make it known why. I have made this point many times before, until the SFA and TV companies are told in no uncertain terms that we will not be treated like milk cows, nothing will change. This applies to all supporters of the Scottish game and I would love to see a coordinated push back against these leeches, that the Scottish supporter will not be taken for granted and fall in line with the whims of the TV executives. ....and I'd play it ahead of him to inject a bit of movement up front.

Remember that not all good strikers are fleet of foot Boyd, Harston, Muller, these guys could go missing for 85mins of a game. I want my main striker around the penalty spot/6yd box not moving outside the box.

This point was made to Gary Lineker when he went to Barcelona, when he made wide runs for his own midfield or closed down full backs as he did in England the coaches asked him what he was playing at, they wanted him in the 6 yard box and fresh for when the chance came along, different philosophy.

  13. Other than the great day in Glasgow, knocking Celtic out of the SC 1-0 after they had beaten Liverpool at Anfield on the road to Seville. Don't think I've ever seen the stadium so packed, must have been THE record crowd whatever the "official" stats may show. A great moment from that night was when Charlie Nic and Jim White were walking across to the commentary box on the west side a well kenned face shouted Charlie Charlie what will the score be to which Charlie replied 5-0, the well kenned face replied Aye, but who to Charlie. A brilliant result often forgotten and overshadowed by the Parkhead match.

Pele is irrelevant to the progress and next season. Why are so many fans wanting to look in the past.

If you have no past how do you gauge the present or future. Pele may be irrelevant as regards the future but he set a benchmark for open attacking football and he is large part of our history. His teams should be a standard to which all ICT teams aspire in terms of entertainment.

Valid points all and whilst I agree, what impact do we think this “acceptance” of our position will have on attendances?   As we all know, reduced attendance is lower revenue and it goes from there.  Or would improved product, in terms of football,/ entertainment and excitement perhaps bring the crowds back or at least sustain numbers where they are I wonder? ?

Good points, I loved watching Pele's teams for attacking football though he never achieved promotion to the prem I would settle for having those teams back again, very entertaining, with good players and the odd cup shock thrown in, don't know what the average attendance was during his tenure but it was great entertainment which is what football is about..

imo all ict teams should play the same system and i would be surprised if this is not the case. familiarity amd understanding is essential for youth players to break in

We had that under JH but the fans didn't like the system, apparently. I agree with your statement.
