The nearest motorway is south of Perth!

Fine fine, ill try that again, would Highland Council like to build a retail park on a Prime waterfront location close to a Dual Carriageway?

CaleyD, I thought The club owned the stadium just not the car park?

  2. Im thankful we didnt lose but really if we are drawing to Ayr and Alloa at home I can see this being a very long painful season.

We can try and paint this as an unbeaten start but really we are setting ourselves up for hard work at the end or a mid table finish and the usual "maybe next year."

    Atleast County lost though...

Here is the boring planning bit for any interested boffins (like me!):

The application was for a Screening Opinion from the Council (as Planning Authority) and environmental agencies such as SNH, SEPA and Marine Scotland. This was  required to determine if a full Environmental Impact Assessment is required to accompany a future planning application for the proposed development. The decision made on 17 July is that an EIA is not required but does not guarantee that there will not be environmental impacts or that the proposals will get planning permission.

The land is currently zoned for potential waste management facilities and it is already licensed for this purpose. It is understood that the proposals are for further processing of waste already sorted that would normally sent straight to landfill (south of Perth near Glencarse I think).

On the potential future location of a new stadium, there is still a lot of land adjacent to the UHI Campus and the future prison site (?) which could be used. It is also next to the railway where a rail halt could be provided and will be almost directly connected to the new East Link Road (A9-A96 Inshes to Smithton), which will be a possible future bus route with a separate dedicated cycle lane.

Do you mean Glenfarg? Near to that is Binn Farm which is landfill and I still see the odd Highland waste lorry pass by when Im visiting my parents.

Your location for a potential new stadium would be pretty good. It would probs never happen since the club fairly recently spent cash on getting rid of the shipping container and doing up a shop inside the main stand. What if we had thousands of signatures for a new home?

Apologies for my ignorance- I haven’t been paying attention as I’m more interested in old stadiums than new ones ? , also never been all that familiar with Aberdeen, but I had been assuming they were going to Loirston Loch all this time ?

I did go to Cove’s new place the other week and it’s just such a godforsaken area (but the balmoral pies are good). Like us it was built next door to a travellers site, though good luck to anybody trying to get to the stadium from there, as you have to go north round Ikea, then round the Post Office depot and a dozen other businesses. Imagine Caley Stadium being right in the middle of the Longman and you’ve just about got it.

Just on Falkirk, they do have an actual huge landfill just south of Grangemouth and it stinks for about half a mile if you’re coming north on the M9. Bad news for the ICT Lothian & Borders contingent.

Colleague and I drove by the site in the industrial park near Kingswells, near to the new AWPR and a park and ride, haud on,

    Away from town...

    Near a major road...

    Next to an industrial park...

Sounds like Caley Stadium. trust Aberdeen to go copying us eh. ?

  5. Alloa? Alloa?? Alloa that beat us 1 - 0 and put us out of the League Cup despite us having 15 shots at goal, THAT Alloa???

Hopefully Alan Simpson is right and there's not a sting in the tail! (get it... 'cos theyre wasps)

Given the club (apparently) didn't notify fans of the game against Lossie the other night but found time to talk up some company who cleaned gutters or something I don't think communicating with fans is ranking highly on their agenda right now.

Funny you mentioned that as I was thinking that the other day. I seem to remember Graeme Rae saying they were going to keep in touch with fans more and yet sometimes the official page just doesnt post anything.

Isn't our stadium actually built on a tip that was closed a few years before ICT existed, then they moved it further into the Longman?

If it gets to the stage where the dump actually does affect the stadium, the question arises of where do we move the stadium to? Highly anticipate that if "Move the stadium to Bught Park" comes up, it'll be rejected by many. But where is there that's easily accessible to all fans? Slightly further down the A9? But if I'm correct, the opposite side of the A9 to where the Car Dealers are is protected land where nobody's allowed to build on. Somewhere up by Drakies/Inshes/Drumossie would seem logical, as it is right next to the A9, befitting Away fans, but it is also a hefty trek to get up there from the Bus/Train station for those who live in central Inverness or come into town via bus or train. There is nowhere it can go besides the A9 area, because of the inadequate road links, alongside the Bypass could be possible, but that road isn't directly linked to the A9 which means there'd be massive backlogs of traffic actually getting to the area.

I know it is highly unlikely that we'd be forced to move because of a tip, but hell, you've got to think ahead when the possibilities come up.

EDIT: After having a look at RIG's post and attached link, that's the exact are I was meaning "protected land", as I thought it was for seabirds or something like that, and looks like even if it does get built, I don't see why it would affect the stadium, besides the traffic on matchdays potentially going up.

A new stadium would be good, although would probably never happen. I suppose having a stadium out of the way isnt as bad as I keep thinking as Falkirks stadium is sort of out of the way and Aberdeens new stadium is going to be nearer to Kingswells village than Aberdeen really.

  8. Thanks for sharing that RiG. After I read the story I pictured it bein closer to the stadium and then the folks sitting in the North stand would be looking out at a big industrial plant behind the South Stand. Somthing similar to what  East Fife used to have.

  9. Just read in the Courier that they are putting a Dump next to Caley Stadium, I believe it will be somewhere between the South Stand and the Roundabout and will operate until late 2021.

Gutted that it'll be so close and I hope the club objected strongly or are atleast getting some kind of sweety from the Council for having it nearby.

    Disappointing.

  10. If the money is right could be an OK signing. He's only scored once for County but was he not injured for a time?

He seemed to do alright at United even scoring against us, maybe he'll fit in better this side of the Bridge.

(He says fingers and toes crossed)

  11. Why are most of the comments here so negative? Im frustrated that we missed the penalty but thats business as usual for us like when Vigurs was taking them. We can look at it like throwing away two points or we can look at it like we kept a clean sheet and maintained unbeaten league run and got another point on the board only second game.

  12. Forgive me if you have read my previous posts and It sounds like I am covering old ground however I wanted to add my two cents to this thread.

Near my folks theres a small lowland league club called Kelty Hearts that have been able to create a community focused club with a really positive energy surrounding it, they post Regular messages on their Social media surrounding developments of their stadium and other parts of the club which I wonder if someone from Caley could visit and see of we could learn a few pointers to try and generate a bit of positive energy of our own.

Im also quite disappointed that the Inverness Caley Stadium Development facebook page only got about 300 likes and fairly recently just died off with no new updates, they posted some good ideas which I thought the club could have posted officially instead.

What happened to the buy a tile for the tunnel offer from years ago? If they never sold them all why not try again since its our 25th anniversary?

  13. Very disappointing to see this scoreline. Hearts knew they needed to win and would have been well up for this all we needed was a solid back 4 which sadly, if going by many comments, didnt turn up today. Im hoping if anything positive comes from today it has allowed Robbo to identify the weak links at the back and reorganise for the upcoming games and going out allows us to focus on the League.

Many happy faces in the Nations Capitol sadly the same cannot be said in the Highland Capitol. Dust ourselves off and look forward and try to ignore this sick feeling.

Compared with last year ? It is pre-season. Winning becomes a mentality FFS.

Well I hope its just me preparing for the worst before we have even started. Alarm bells were ringing for me I wonder what Robbo would be saying to it.

  15. Love the away top, I really think Black should be our away colour, however, I have given it time and I still cant get on board with this seasons home top. The red and Blue stripes should be our 'hing like Barca and Crystal Palace. Decent company to be with.

  16. I would love to see red and blue stripes for home and black with thin red stripes for away.

As much as I like my white away tops I do feel like its copying Clach.

  17. Everytime someone brings up the topic "How did we find ourselves in this situation I just think of The Specials song," Too Much Too Young".

I hope the announcement is just saying a tighter budget for next season as we fail to get our Rlreturn to top flight and btw heres a special edition jersey to mark 25 years. No Doom and gloom please.

  18. Booked a ticket for me and my brother, it may not be as big an occasion as the Scottish Cup Final by any means but after this horror show of a season I really hope for a good day, and the Caledonian Bar welcoming us is a kind gesture so glad my days off landed on Match day. Hope to see a great turnout of Highlanders to the Fair City.
