My mum has just thrown out a Toshiba TV set that was purchased in 1982 and that was still used regularly and still in perfect working order except that it would not turn off by the switch, only by the remote control.

In this day and age when things are not supposed to be built to last a 25 year old TV cant be bad.

Anyone else got any electrical appliances that have lasted as well?

My folks have got a 22 year old dishwasher (and before anyone asks it's not my girlfried/sister/mum/etc) - that's older than I am. I'm well impressed by the folks at hotpoint I must say.

I've stll got our first colour TV, a 13" Sony Trinitron portable, dating from 1970s.  Found it in the loft the other day and tried it just for fun, still working perfectly.
