Defensive duo sign new contracts

  • Teaser Paragraph:

R HASTINGSStuart McCaffrey and Richard Hastings have signed new contracts that will extend their stay at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium for two and three years respectively.

S MacAFFREY With Darren Dods leaving for Dundee United at the end of the season, it is excellent news for the fans that both players have committed their future to the club. Hastings has been excellent in the left back slot and although McCaffrey hasnt seen a lot of action in the last couple of years because of injury and the level of performance shown by the other defenders he is the natural choice to replace Dods in defence next season.

Richard, who was recently recalled to the Canadian international side has made 296 appearances for the club and barring injury or a suspension should play his 300th game for the club on the last day of the season. He has put pen to paper on a three year deal which should hopefully take him well beyond the 400 game mark in the coming seasons.

{styleboxop}I'm delighted both have chosen to stay - Charlie Christie{/styleboxop}Stuart, back in the side recently because of injuries and suspensions has played 185 games for the club and has agreed a two year contract.

According to the BBC, Charlie Christie is quoted as saying  "I'm delighted both have chosen to stay rather than quit this summer. Richard has had his best SPL season, winning his place back in the Canada team, and has been a stalwart of a strong defence. Stuart was a regular when we joined the SPL then fell out of the side but showed his quality at Ibrox three weeks ago when we were down to 10 men."
