I'd agree it certainly isn't as easy as Israel being the only aggressor. Hezbollah are not blameless in all this...

More iPod randomness: 'Snooker Loopy' - The Matchroom Mob feat. Chas'N'Dave! How'd that get on there...

IPod randomness: 'Little Sister' - Dwight Yoakam

You're posts really do bore the living **** out of me! Do you talk about anything else?! Don't read them then young lad... :015:

Sounds like a pretty cool event. Unfortunately, I won't be back from the US before then. Bummer. Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons though, at least there is some ROCK on the bill, unlike at 'Rock'ness. I'm going to organise a 'Danceness' event. The bill will include SOAD, Tool, Slayer, AC/DC.... :001: :001: :001:

That link's very interesting. But surely we can have an intelligent, constructive debate on such issues without getting worked up into a frenzy? :001:

I was chatting with a pal today who has a theory that Israel's over-reaction to it's 2 soldiers being held by Hezbollah is deliberately designed to cause a much larger conflict, drawing Iran into a fight. I'm not sure if I agree or not but I can follow his line of argument. 'Best getting Iran sorted before they have nukes' I think were his words. And this way is less controversial than just invading or bombing Iran. Israel has already stated that Iran is supporting these 'militant' Palestinian groups. An old Chinese curse is 'May you live in interesting times' (although maybe something's lost in translation :001:)

Is it any wonder Mee lives in the hills on her own like a hermit? :001: And, I didn't actually read her last post since the 'ignore' function has been activated but I'm quite sure it is 99.9999% balls! :015:
-
Just heard of some good rock tribute bands (is it safe to say that here? :001:). Motorheid and MacSabbath :015:
-
Does Mee have an ignore button? I mean in real life... Would be handy. :001: (Note smiley)

You're clutching at straws now! That's hardly in the same league as calling someone an 'ersehole', 'tw@t' or '****'! Everything I said was in good nature (and that statement was especially tongue in cheek, given I've no idea how old you are!), you just come back with down right insults! Next...

Well, if Alex looked at the last few posts he'd realise that after I'd written 'My last word on the matter' it was you who made the effort to keep it going with more childish insults. Is Alex OBJECTIVE (I think that's the right word)? I'm not sure. Maybe you know each other, I don't know... And explain to me how I started the argument aggressively? I made some off the cuff remark about live music in the Highlands which you got your knickers in a twist about! I was not the one who resorted to insults. I fail to see how you can argue against that but I know you will :001:

I have repeatedly expressed OPINIONS (I guess they're only 'constructive' if you agree with them) that provide an opening for DISCUSSION or REASONED ARGUMENT and all you've done is come back with aggressive responses reading some paranoid nonsense into what I've written! And I'm not the first person to get on the wrong end of your temper, am I? As soon as I SUGGEST something you instantly return (apparently without properly reading or, at least, understanding what I've written) with some aggressive vitriol or down-right insults! I think an objective reader of these posts would see who is being the more forceful here.
-
By positive contributions you really mean opinions that don't conflict with yours Mee. Am I not allowed to have an opinion in the world of Mee? It might be better if you just leave this be...

I think you'll find I did post quite a lot in the football section of the old site. Admittedly, not as much as some but posting on this site is not the most important thing in my life right now...

I didn't mean to suggest that Kaiser specifically was a 'dance monkey' but I can see where the confusion arose from. Music is very much in the eye of the beholder and I would certainly agree that if we all liked the same stuff it would be very boring. I think I inferred as much when I said that, by definition, alternative music is a bit different to the mainstream tastes. The main thing that got me was 'Rockness' not having any rock music! And then lil' ole Mee got on my case and all **** broke loose! :015: Hopefully she's not run out of valium and can calm down a bit! :001:
-
It's good to know that you're hanging on my every word! :001: I'll post about football when the season starts and not before. It's interesting to know that you've gone to the trouble to check that I've not posted on the other forums though. Some folk have too much spare time on their hands! Idle hands make light work for the Devil!

Or never trust someone whos is, by nature, untrustworthy :001:

Au contraire! I would propose that you are showing all the signs of pent-up frustration! My posts have either been tongue-in-cheek or well-reasoned and level-headed responses to your aggressive and highly subjective vitriol! As I KEEP having to repeat, I do not think or have intended for it to appear that I'm 'better than everyone else'. If you think that I am, either you're very paranoid or not getting the sarcasm in a lot of my posts. But when you started making personal comments about me then this whole argument became sport for me. I just liked winding you up but now that I realise that it's like shooting fish in a barrel it's getting boring. My last word on the matter.
-
Ha-ha! That was the other 'joke' that I was ABSOLUTELY sure you would come up with at some point! Mee, you're nothing if not predictable! :015: P.S. You don't need to reply with "you're/ you're taste in music/ SOAD (delete as appropriate) are the only joke here" as I'm sure that's what you would have written! :001:
-
Mee, I don't want to imply your 'jokes' are predictable but there are as yet undiscovered tribes in the Amazon that knew you were going to reply with that! You're just pissed off that you don't have the cerebral capacity to come back with a witty retort! :001:
-
I sense some considerable vitriol in that post! It was the 'old biddy' line that did it, wasn't it? :001: I apologise...
-
1. I worked in many clubs in Aberdeen. 2. I'm not lecturing anyone. I was slagged off for not having any musical knowledge so I thought I needed to provide some validation for my comments. Do you have ANY musical training? 3. How does that comment make you come to the conclusion that I think I'm better than everyone else? I'm not calling anyone 'the lowest common denominator of music listener'! You're not following the argument; my theory is that bland music that doesn't offend appeals to the most number of people. Is that too difficult a concept for an old biddy to grasp ? :001: Again you've twisting what I've written into something you can get angry about! Chill...
-
There's no point in arguing with dance monkeys who have little knowledge of music :001: A singer (and they have 2 singers!) who doesn't hit any notes? :015: After seeing them live I can say with some authority that I've never seen a band that were so pitch perfect (and without the need for electronic effects to force this!). But I like the fact that not everyone like's SOAD (or, indeed, most of the music I listen to). Truth is, that is the definition of it being alternative and a bit 'on the edge'. Bands that are super-polular are, by definition, bland. They haven't the luxury of offending anyone and need to produce bland music (which, ironically, I find offensive) that appeals to the lowest common denominator of music listener. Coldplay spring to mind... I'd agree with the first point, but I do hope you have enough sense to read my posts and see that I'm not a dance monkey ( whatever that is?? ) , although I wouldn't be so full of myself to say i had a great knowledge of music , the stuff I do know comes from listening to some styles I'm maybe not keen on and being open to new sounds - and then making decisions on that basis . If truth be told I would rate Tool higher than SOAD - they seem to have more ideas, more fluency in their music...then it get lets down with the vocals...as does (IMNVHO) a lot of that style of music. I wouldn't agree about the alternative descriptor 100% as the musical spectrum is so eclectic these days that to be truly alternative you would have to do gigs underwater or something very far 'out there' . As for ' on the edge' - theres a sharper edge on a Sgian Dubh these days. Are the Rolling Stones bland? Yes, I would say that, these days at least, the Rolling Stones are bland. Also, you can't really compare Tool and SOAD as they have very different styles.
