Tattooing has come on a long way since you were a lad! The ink and needles are far more refined now. The first tattoo I got done still looks as good as new. GET YOUSELF INKED - it's in our ancerstory as northerners!!!
  5. Is it?... Is it?..... http://www.thatvideosite.com/video/4695 ...it is, a bloody woman! End of argument!! :001:
  6. Rosehearty in Buchan is about the most miserable place I've been in Scotland. The name is a completely misleading! Grey place with grey people and (usually) grey weather.

I've spent a lot of time under the needle and every time I book an appointment for something new I get excited. There's something very primal about getting tattoo'd. It must be the Pict in us!

There seems to be different attitudes to getting a tattoo these days. It usually begins with the 'I want a tattoo' attitude which is often driven by trends (i.e., these days girls with tribal-type design at the bottom of their back, guys with tribal designs on upper arm). This is how I began. But for a small proportion of people this develops into a bigger commitment to 'body art' (for want of a better expression) and the tattoos begin to take on a far more personal meaning to the wearer. I now fall firmly into the latter camp I would say!

If you were genuinely crazy when younger then you'd have just got a tattoo! But to my point... My recent tattoos are all of pagan (i.e. pre-Christian) origin and they very much mean something to me, whose family is entirely from the north of Scotland. We should never forget our tribal origins in my opinion. What separates the north of Scotland from the rest of Britain culturally is that we were never 'Romanised' - the Romans were up here but didn't (or perhaps didn't want to) conquer. Our native tribal customs persevered and were intertwined with later Christianity. The little that's known of our native culture shows it to be, in my opinion, very 'beautiful' (for want of a better term!). It was intrinsically linked with nature in such a way that significant environmental damage was avoided. Romanised culture with the view of 'man controlling nature' has fu*ked up so many things around the world. OK, off-topic rant over :001:

I have one or two :001: I would thoroughly recommend Stix (or Kev for that matter) at Draconian Tattoo in Aberdeen. I've actually got a session tomorrow to continue work on my latest piece, although it'll still require a few sittings yet before it's finished!
  11. Wobbly tables People driving at 40mph on a perfectly decent bit of road People ordering overly elaborate drinks at coffee shops that take ages to make and cause really long queues Dribbly, low flow strength showers Toothpaste being squeezed from middle of tube Being dragged around female clothes shops and asked my opinion on millions of outfits (which is then totally ignored!) Excessive 'pampering paraphernalia' cluttering up my bathroom ...and that's just the start of it!
  12. I quite like Edam cheese, banjo music and long walks on the beach... :014:

    9th?

A win today and we're probably into 9th place... assuming Aberdeen draw or home win with St Mirren, Hearts home win with Falkirk and Celtic away win with Gretna. All eminently possible but, given the vagaries of football, likely nonsense!
  14. Not sure what you're getting at in relation to the names mentioned previously...
  15. To be fair to RG, it must be very hard to ad-lib for 5 minutes in front of a crowd of 50,000 with God knows how many more watching on live TV. And all because some old fat poof took a strop...
  16. Eh can just see it now ,Mee an Hamish snuggling doon wi a large bag oh Doritos and dips and the whole Office collection (and Runrig playing in the background) :love11:
  17. As strange as this may appear, I'm 100% with Mee on this! :001:
  18. Cheers Eliza..!! Totally agree with all of that.... :022: I find it interesting to note that there are so many comedians/entertainers who are either loved or loathed - For many of these there is just no in-between.... 'tis an interesting subject.... Maybe someday, some gifted person like Hamish will explain to us all why this should be the case.... :024: Come on Johnboy, I'm sure you could take a puff of your mind-altering pipe and come up with a theory on this :001:
  19. So pleased you think so.... I would be interested to note how you rate entertainer Jonathan Ross...?? Funny or not funny...?? He has his moments but far from Ricky's league in my opinion...
  20. This appears to add some empirical evidence to back my hypothesis!
  21. I think he's very good and a bit of a ground-breaker too. There's so much comedy now that lends very heavily from The Office style. And if you watch his stand-up shows you'd realise that he's not one dimensional. I'd guess that a lot of people who don't find him funny find Bernard Manning or Chubby Brown (not Gordon!) funny :001: And I think he makes a lot of good social comments in some of his work too, possibly a bit subtle for some though...
  22. The Smiths played Inverness around 1985...
