  1. Burough Briggs average gate about 400. 1400 come to Inverness for a day out. 1000 of those came in the hope of witnessing a giant killing. I spoke with a couple of guys on the train south on saturday night. Both Elgin supporters who live and work in Edinburgh. Niether gets to more than one or two games in a season but they seen this as being a good one to make the effort for because Elgin are doing so well this season.

Personally I think there were more in the stadium than the official figures show but thats the norm for cup games. My guestimate would have been closer to 3500 total.

Crowd of 2800,definitely more than 1400 Elgin, the away stand was near full, outnumbered at home in any competition is embarrassing,to be outnumbered by a team only 40miles away with a population of far less than us is disgraceful

There has been rivalry between Inverness teams and Elgin for years,it appears that people only come out for the "big" teams now though

?10 for adults ?5 for kids yet a home support of 1000,amazes me no end

  2. This game yesterday was being built up on here like it was going to be similar to some of the great football derbies on the planet!!!!!

What a complete and utter damp squib it turned out to be, there is seriously something wrong when the away fans outnumber and outsing the home support

To be fair to the Elgin fans they generated a good atmosphere and if it wasn't for them the game would have passed by like a training exercise

Only ?10 to get in yet ICT cannot muster 1500 fans WTF? Don't think sitting in the main stand that i have ever seen the North Stand so empty and so quiet

Spoke to some older Elgin fans in the pub after the game and they couldn't believe how poor an atmosphere there was and how there was so few ICT fans, i must admit i had to agree with them sadly

They sang at the game what a sh***y home support and SPL yer having a laugh and they were completely justified on yesterdays debacle

Things can only get better i suppose so onwards and upwards lets hope we get an away tie in the netx round

I've never said anything before but others have picked up on it. Why is every comment you make some sort of dig at the club, players or (supposedly fellow) fans? Im not sure whether your trying to get a rise out of people (for usually no real reason) or because you just dont really know all that much or maybe your just new to all this supporting thing.

We are not a huge club. We can't include some of the facilities larger clubs have. All SPL teams generally have poor turn outs against lower league opposition and are often outsung by the swollen, exuberant, diddy team lot. It is noticable when fans don't turn up especially for a smaller top flight team like ourselves. But these days people pick and choose games, especially addition cup games as watching football is pretty expensive nowadays.

So really why so negative? County fan?

Maybe he's a little pissed off that we get outnumbered at a home game by a 3rd division support!! Tha apathy for football in Inverness unreal

Sorry but since when does being a 3rd divison side mean the fans need to be worse than us?

Perhaps because 3rd division crowds are generally a lot lower even at cup games(look back on the history of this club you will see crowds in division 3 were usually about 1500,Although you are correct it doesn't matter what division they are in you should never get outnumbered by an away support and for anyone to try and defend this is laughable

  4. old codgers complaining about everything from the weather to the price of petrol.

Aye, I can just imagine what these Old Codgers were talking about too.

"See these young lads... they only come here so they can make a noise and a complete @rse of themselves on a Saturday afternoon. No interest in football at all. Well I suppose it keeps them off the streets. But the soooner they get away back to the North Stand the better. Tut, tut, tut. Pass the Werthers Originals."

Don't worry son. The day is approaching faster than you realise. You probably won't suddenly wake up one morning and simply realise that you have become an Old Codger. As sure as night follows day though, it's a status which is certainly coming your way. But enjoy the intolerance of youth for the moment, because it won't be available to you for all that much longer.

Just beacause you are old doesn't instantly turn you in to a moaning old b%^$??D SURELY??

  5. blink

After that performance yesterday it was maybe a blessing that the BBC never showed too much of the low lights

To scrape through literally against a mediocre third division/highland league outfit is highly embarrassing

Its time Butcher & Malpas started to address the pathetic home form situation or home fans will stay away just like they chose to do yesterday

    dougal

Yer back! Highly embarrasing? I wonder if Hibs, St Mirren or United fans would agree with you? TM4TJ is right - we just wore them down. I'm sure also that the 2 or 3 thousand home fans yesterday would agree on a day of fresh snow etc. etc. The BBC coverage was the goals and that was that really. On conclusion of the clip they then ignored the match completely and talked to auld man Weir about OF stuff. That's just disrespectful. Nevin redeemed it slightly after that but, as coverage goes it was pish, as the OP implied. See ya in a couple of weeks when you surface again pal.

2 - 3000 home fans from a crowd of 2800?? probably nearer 1200 home fans

  6. Elgin fans showed us up,came in numbers, outsang us whole game, pathetic support

Jealous of their support reminded me of a good old scottish cup game from back in the Highland League days, sadly our support doesnt provide days like that anymore

Dont forget, this was elgins big day out, so they turned up in numbers. go to one of their home games, they have about 1/3 of the support they had yesterday, and by all accounts....its a pretty drab atmosphere.

I agree it was their big day out, don't forget though in the Highland league they were probably the main rivals of Inverness teams, would their have been such a low home support if it had been County who haven't exactly been in the same league as us a lot over the years.

More of an effort should have been made,no SPL team should be getting outnumbered by lower league opposition fans, there maybe apathy for the cup throughout all the other SPL teams but i bet none were outnumbered by away fans at their home ground

  8. - and calling for a club employee to be informed to sort it out - that is Kindergarten

Couldnt agree more mate but just shows what many in the support are like, people complaining about nonsense like this clearly never went football before 1994!!

  9. Too many people within the support always bitching about other supporters and what they are up to,ok the guy doesn't rate Foran he is entitled to his opinion some people like players in different ways

he pays his money for his season ticket or ticket on the day then he is entitled to shout his support or frustrations all he wants.

Some people in the ICT support would be better getting on with watching the game instead of their fellow supporters

Outrageous behaviour calling someone a Donught where will it all end,if it ever gets to people calling players eclairs i'd call the polis!!!

  10. Right I picked Villa ?2.50 e/w @ 9/1 odds and received ?9.38 winnings .... i.e p!sh

He is still technically top scorer so I am struggling to see how it's worked out with such a small pay out

tbh it's probably a very simple calculation but I'm struggling .. any help would be appreciated

    cheers

Thomas Mueller was top scorer, you have been given a percentage of your winnings for e/w i.e third or fourth

  11. Hope everybodies enjoying their summer holidays, especially all those people I beat in last years competition, I wouldnt be enjoying my summer quite as much without you

That was all last year though and we're all going to be back on a level pegging in a months time.

I seem to recall last years comps starting up last minute, so I thought we should get things sorted properly this time as if CanadaBob puts up a prize again then itd be disrespectful to him not take it seriously, certainly from an administration stand point (though you cant help but laugh when Forfar score twice in the last minutes to reverse your nearest rivals bet your way!).

    So what are we discussing?

    1) Number of runners

    2) Dealing with Cup and International weekends

    3) Having a consistent source of odds

    4) Reef auditing the sums every week? I think this could be a very annoying task next year with an increased number of players.

I think most of the rules that were added or modified last year can be rubber stamped now, so everybody that wants to join in knows where they stand before the big kick off.

Anything else people were pissed off at last year they want changed?

One thing that was a big improvement in last seaosns comp was having prizes for the top 3 spots, rather than just for the winner, maybe we could dilute the prize pool down to 5 places to keep interest up for even more people? If we have 40 runners then 5 places isnt unreasonable... loads of bookies do that with the Grand National every year!

I wouldn't get out of bed for the sum on offer here

  12. Why shouldn't Ian Black sign a Pre Contract at the earliest opportunity he had,he was working for a manager who didn't have a clue,a board who didnt offer him a contract till a very short time before he could sign the pre contract,he was being run in to the ground by "the ego's" fitness regime ffs and he's probably increased his wages by a fair bit and he has signed for a club a lot bigger than ICT

I really don't see how anyone can slag black for this

  13. He knows the league and he knows the players and what they are capable of. We could certainly do worse.

And we could certainly do a whole lot better. What has John Robertson done since leaving ICT? Get sacked a few times for not getting results.

Steven Pressley would bring some passion to the team as well as being an excellent manager. With Barry Wilson as deputy.

Yeah because Steven Pressley sounds so passionate in his interviews..NOT

Sounds more of a thick fecker than Brewster the Bulb
