  1. Both subs were the right ones, but should've been made earlier (Meekings was enforced).

I must add that's the first time I've seen Wedderburn.. Fk me, what a size on the guy!!! He was actually decent in the first half, but drifted out of the game completely in the 2nd.

One thing we will beat them on is number of away fans.I reckon they had about 30 there tonight?

  2. To be honest I thought we actually played pretty well. First 15 mins we were excellent. Their goal was certainly against the run of play. Can't decide whether it was a great free kick, or bad goalkeeping. There was certainly only one place the ball was going to go...and it did.

Second half we upped the tempo a bit. Doran was unlucky with a shot the keeper somehow managed to scoop up over the bar. And another he curled just past the post.

When we went more direct we got them a bit rattled. To many times in the first half we were content to just pass it meaninglessly between midfield and defence.

One thing that was very noticeable was that we were pretty toothless up front. Lopez started off ok, but faded badly. There waa to little support for him from midfield as well, and more often than not he was too isolated.

We're still in it though. We've certainly nothing to fear over there and if we can grab an early equaliser then..game on.

Astra looked neat and tidy on the ball, but were nowhere near as good a team as I was expecting.

Not too sure who I'd pick as Motm...certainly not Tansey, the sponsors choice. Christie, or maybe Warren.

  3. Now we've joined Europe's elite I'd have thought we'd be getting invites to take part in those prestigious pre-season tournaments featuring the likes of Arsenal, Monaco, and some unheard of Japanese team.

  4. Big IF..but if we can get Ross and Ofere signed up then we could start our European adventure with..

    Esson

    Tremarco Warren Meekings Raven

    Ross Draper Tansey Williams

    Christie

    Ofere

Not a bad team in my opinion!

That's not taking into account anyone coming in obviously.

  5. I rate Williams highly and reckon he could play most positions. I'd actually give him a go in Watkins role. He's got loads of pace, good technique and can take a player on.

That'd leave Tremarco at lb, which I don't have any worries about. He's a good player, but he is prone to the odd near decapitation of an opponent at least once in a game.

  6. To be fair to him, Watkins was never a striker in my opinion. Since he got pushed up front following Billy's departure he only managed a couple of goals before Saturday.

Great winger yes, but I don't think he'll ever make a striker..wherever he ends up.

  7. If he chooses to go to Aberdeen I'll wish him no future success in his career. We've got used to losing players over the years, to bigger clubs. While no one can deny Aberdeen are a bigger club, and can pay much higher wages, in footballing terms they're no better than us. So if he goes to them it shows a complete lack of wanting to progress his footballing career in my opinion.

Anyway, we've lost far better players (Bingham, both Shinnies, Rooney, Mckay) and we've always gone from strength to strength. And we have something very special at this club, something the likes of Aberdeen don't have. So I've no doubt we'll continue growing no matter who leaves.

  8. I suspect my wife is getting slightly annoyed now of me playing Vincent's goal over and over again. Oh, and the last minute before the final whistle. I've told her it's going to be a looooong time, if ever, that I get bored with watching it.

Been looking, but can't find anywhere...I'd love to see a video of our winner from the Falkirk end, just to see the mass eruption of fans, and their despair!!

  9. On the subject of Shinnie...did anyone see the BBC pre match build up bit with Foran and Warren giving a lowdown on the team??

When it got to Shinnie it was 'by far the biggest nose at the club. You have to feel sorry for his kid having to look up at that every day'!!

His brother Andy didn't look to amused in the studio.

  10. Much as I like Draper I thought he was awful on Sat. I lost count at the number of times he gave the ball away, and his 50 yd shot...well!!

Tansey just couldn't get into the game, nor could Ryan.

Agree That Watkins, Devine and Meekings were probably the pick of the bunch.

  11. Bit surprised the council hasn't been flying the club flag at Its offices or at the Castle today. Would've been a nice touch to show acknowledgement of the fantastic achievement by the club.

  12. My son(who couldn't be there for work reasons)texted me about 2.30 to say that Tremarco was playing. I jokingly texted him back saying find out the odds on him getting sent off.

He texted back 10 mins later saying he couldn't find the odds.

My not placing that bet on Sat was my only disappointment!

  13. My wife always asks what the best day of my life has been. She always expects the answer...marrying you, and the birth of our 2 children.

However, being Welsh, my reply is always Wales v England 1999 at Wembley, Scott Gibbs last minute try, followed by a night I have no recollection of.

I suspect tomorrow may well trump that...so sorry wife, kids, you're relegated to 3rd after tomorrow!

  14. Amongst all the Cup Final excitement, let's not forget this'll be Graeme's last appearance in an ICT shirt. Let's hope his last act will be to lift that cup.

What a fantastic player he's been for us, and while I hate the thought of him going to Aberdeen, I fully expect him to move onto bigger things from them. Easily good enough to play top end Championship/bottom end Premiership level.

All the best Graeme, now make sure you'll be lifting that cup for us all come Sat evening.
