I just drove past the stadium about 15 mins ago and there was a gathering of journalists and tv crews there.I wonder if an official club statement is imminent?

I wouldn't hold your breath - not meant as a criticism but just an observation of announcements in general that emanate from TCS

  2. Interesting times. I assume if this fiasco comes to fruition then it will be the first time a manager has decided to walk out of our club in such a manner.

Irrespective of the outcome I think it is probably time a full top to bottom assessment of how the club is run needs to be performed and the lessons learned taken on board as what is currently playing out is not showing the club in a positive light. The internal bickering and displays of egotism does not promote a happy environment and all those involved need to remember we are no longer a highland league club where this type of thing was a lot more commonplace.

It will be interesting to hear the player's views on this as many of them appeared to be happy with the playing side of the club.

Anyway the quicker this is resolved the better and the club can move on and hopefully learn some important lessons from this debacle.

  3. Looks like it is a case of....

I suspect it may be a while until we have another double winning manager of the year

  4. I remember the wooden casing and the push buttons well. Like yourself I can still remember coming home from school the day the Black & White one was taken away to be replaced by a colour set....think ours may have been a Phillips though....

....also on the subject of TVs I remember having one of these when I was a student in the late 80s - the radio and tape were ok but you struggled to watch anything on it

  5. Shocker. Well that's worked out well then. That will mean even less money available for next season's player budget. Not looking like a sound football or business decision.

  6. I might be in the minority but I believe Hughes has improved the team. Ok we can be a very frustrating team to watch at times but we do look a far better footballing team under Hughes than we did under Butcher.

I don't think Hughes is the problem. His single mindedness with our style of play with what appears at times to be no plan B or C in place to break teams down can be annoying but I think the bigger problem lies within the management of the club and the behind the scenes decision making (or more the lack of). Personally I think Butcher ran the show during his tenure and Hughes is struggling with not being able to get the same response.

I for one would be sorry to see Hughes go as I believe if he can get the right type of player in I think he can take us forward. Unfortunately it looks at present like there will be too many pieces of the jigsaw missing and he might indeed walk if he does not get more support within the club with what he wants to achieve.

  7. A number of the provisional squads have now been announced and are listed at:

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/euro-2016-squads-confirmed-provisional-7986775

The Irish 35-man provisional squad includes Jonny Hayes. The scarcity of SPFL names in the squads unfortunately gives an accurate reflection on the standard of foreign players in our top flight at the moment although there are a few below in the Irish squad who have played in Scotland. I think after OWF (Wales) Mikael Lustig of Celtic who has been listed in the 22-man Swedish squad is the only other player from the SPFL listed in a squad to date. Maybe one or two more might appear when the NI squad is announced but not expecting many more from the other European squads.

Goalkeepers: Shay Given (Stoke), Darren Randolph (West Ham), David Forde (Millwall), Keiren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday).

Defenders: Seamus Coleman (Everton), Cyrus Christie (Derby), Paul McShane (Reading), Ciaran Clark (Aston Villa), Richard Keogh (Derby), John O'Shea (Sunderland), Alex Pearce (Bristol City), Shane Duffy (Blackburn), Marc Wilson (Stoke), Stephen Ward (Burnley).

Midfielders: Aiden McGeady (Everton), James McClean (West Brom), Glenn Whelan (Stoke), James McCarthy (Everton), Jeff Hendrick (Derby), David Meyler (Hull), Stephen Quinn (Reading), Darron Gibson (Everton), Harry Arter (Bournemouth), Wes Hoolahan (Norwich), Eunan O'Kane (Bournemouth), Anthony Pilkington (Cardiff), Robbie Brady (Norwich), Jonathan Walters (Stoke), Jonathan Hayes (Aberdeen), Callum O'Dowda (Oxford).

Forwards: Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy), Shane Long (Southampton), David McGoldrick (Ipswich), Kevin Doyle (Colorado Rapids), Daryl Murphy (Ipswich).

Disappointed, but not surprised by Storey's move to Aberdeen - particularly if the rumour about development fee to Swindon is correct.

Doran is potentially an excellent signing, but we don;'t know how he'll shape up following that injury - some players are never quite the same.

Horner was occasionally appalling and sometimes OK - I'd have him as back-up for right back or midfield - nothing more. However, Yogi seems to like him, so i'd not be surprised if he were first team. Never saw Fidher play, so hope he's got something.

How long are the contracts? All 1 year?

    From the ICT statement:

As promised, we bring you up to date on where we are with player recruitment for the coming season.  We had hoped to have at least some of these in place sooner so we could have included a word from the players, but we'll do that as soon as they are back from their summer break.

We are pleased to confirm that deals are now complete with Aaron Doran (2 years + 1 year option for the club), Lewis Horner (1 year) and Alex Fisher (6 months with 1 year option for the club).

  10. Here we go - back to the old days of squad catch-up. Even if we ignored the Storey situation there is something that appears to be not quite right when it comes to the club's recruitment. Personally I don't rate Lewis Horner as a defensive unit and wouldn't have said he was the type of player that Hughes was stating we need to improve the club. Then again maybe he will prove me wrong.

  11. I wouldn't go as far as 'conspiracy' - I reckon it is probably just more akin in nature to a few other things that have gone on in the last few years

Just as well the club is not a business....

  12. Well that's the season over so we are onto the usual post season items - waiting to hear about new signings and how long it will take for any new kits to be launched.

2014/15 saw the last of the Errea kits and 2015/16 saw the first Carbrini kit. Over the last couple of days a number of the SPFL teams have already launched their new versions and I am not sure about either of the Aberdeen or County creations.

    http://www.footballkitnews.com/category/scottish-premier-league/

Is there going to be a new ICT kit for 2016/17 or just a sponsor and training kit changes?
