  1. The only people with just cause for complaint about Ross and Brand are Sachs and his Granddaughter....everyone else who heard it and were offended should be complaining to the Producers who gave the show the green light because they are the ones that brought it in to the public domain.

Had the show never been aired and the public outcry kicked off, then I'm not sure Sachs would have been too bothered by it himself. Let's not forget that this is a man who played a character in a show which sailed pretty close to the edge in terms of causing racial offence to many people...not only in the stereotypical manner that Manuel was played, but in jokes such as "Don't mention the war" in relation to Germans etc.

Offbeat comedy in the eyes of one person can easily be seen as offensive to another....it happens on TV and Radio every day. If Sachs can partake in the kind of humour which pushes the envelope, then I'm guessing he's not so PC as to be overly offended by the calls from Ross/Brand, even if he never found it funny. TO do so would be a tad hypocritical.

What also gets me is that we've been told that the BBC have received over 20,000 complaints in relation to this. Just how many of those are people complaining about Ross/Brand, and how many are complaints about the reaction to the treatment of Ross/Brand....are those complaints included, are they a separate figure which we've not been told about?

How many of the complaints came about from people who listened to the original show and felt the need to call in.....TWO. Which means that 20,000+ people only felt the need to contact the BBC after it appeared in the papers and their attention was brought to it. Indeed, how many of those people sought out the show to listen to it after they had heard their were complaints and then had the nerve to complain because they didn't like listening to something they knew might offend them? That's like someone telling you that a movie is full of violence and you then going to watch it and complaining because it's full of...eh...violence!!!

Whether you find Ross & Brand funny/entertaining or not...this whole thing is just PC BS gone mad, and then topped off with a fair serving of public and political hysteria.

    :thumb04: :018: :rotflmao: Well said

  2. To do what they did to a 78 year old man is not very funny. I hear Brand has resigned anyway.

No it wasnt nice i agree , but Jonathon Ross has apologised & sent flowers , he knows it was wrong

does it really merit being on the news every day this week & MP's getting involved !

Anyone heard how Andy Murrays getting on ?

  3. I can't stand Russell Brand and I don't understand how he managed to get a career in the media in the first place given that he can barely string a coherent sentence together half the time. I'm glad he's got his comeuppance. Jonathan Ross is grossly overpaid and I don't find him funny at all. It's been calculated that every licence fee payer has contributed ?1 toward his huge salary. If he goes as well, then good riddance.

I think its each & everyones own personal opinion as to who's funny & who's not

As for being over paid , yes i totally agree , but then arent all celebs on ridiculous money

People who dont like certain celebs know where the OFF button is !

It was only a few years ago when a certain Mr Connolly made a highly offensive remark about one of the hostages in Iraq , now to me that was a whole lot more upsetting & serious .

Was he banished from TV ? NO

Judging by the papers & tv Andrew Sachs Grandaughters career looks like its about to soar & she's milking it for all its worth

So i say get over it , theres worse happened at sea

  4. Bonfire night was another one of those community gatherings which are desperately missed these days.

Halloween is a bit the same, it's apparently no longer "safe" for kids to go out guising for one reason or another. Kids don't make their own costumes and parents won't spend the time doing it with them so the few guisers you do see roaming about are teenagers who've thrown on a balaclava and gone out as a mugger...and then they wonder why nobody opens the door to them and they react by kicking and booting it, rattling on windows and having the police called on them as a result.

Halloween has all got a bit "sanitised" and somewhat PC. When I was growing up you made a costume from what you had available. That meant that witches, cats, burglars or whatever all had their face blackened with soot from the fireplace....and on the PC front, a popular costume coming out of our house was often a "Black Minister" as it was easy to do - School shirt on back to front, blazer, face blackened with soot and a bible....sorted. If you did that now you'd be hounded for being a racist!!! Dressing young girls up as St Trinians girls would be considered degrading, and any lads going out dressed as a woman would be called gay, or parents chastised for it being inappropriate.

    Aye those were the days

Theres no the same atmosphere or community spirit & being gay meant you were happy !

  5. I couldnt believe Jonathan Ross & Russel Brands antics actually made the first item on the news !

Ok so maybe it was offensive but was the reaction no a bit OTT

There's more important stuff going on in the world

As for entertainment value , i really like Jonathan ross ,

I would miss his show if it came off the air.

    Russel brand Hmmm

  6. As i said on another thread elsewhere. Brewster came to us with NO management experience at all. There must be a hundred and one potential managers out there who would want our job who have no experience.

I honestly believe that NO ONE could do a worse job than Brewster is.

We have 6 games in November, 2 against the old firm and 2 against the edinburgh teams. I fear that come the 1st of Decemember our season will be over.

With both OF games away it'll be a tough call but never say never !

Hibs are beatable & so are Hearts

    So lets stop being Negative

  7. I went to bed last night on a downer but now ive slept on it i feel better

Ok we're out of the CIS cup & we've got a couple of tough away games

We're going through a bad run but come on folks lets stop talking relegation

The tables still very tight & there's a long way to go yet ,

Maybe we wont get any points at Ibrox , possibly grab 3 at Easter road but would be happy to take 1

Then our Next home game Falkirk , no reason why we shouldnt beat them & make that the start of another great run

    Mon the Caley :rotflmao:

  8. FROM TEAMTALK.COM

    Brewster happy to go distance

Craig Brewster does not care if it takes extra-time and penalties for Inverness to win their Co-op Insurance Cup tie against Falkirk

The Highlanders only progressed into the quarter-finals after two tense victories.

Brewster's side squeezed past Arbroath on penalties in the second round and endured an equally nail-biting encounter with Morton in the following round, eventually winning 2-1 after extra-time.

But Brewster is quite prepared to go through the dreaded lottery of penalty kicks again if it means his side make it into their first ever league cup semi-final.

He said: "It doesn't matter how we get through. The main thing is getting in that draw for the final four.

"If the match goes to extra-time or penalties then we will be ready for it."

Inverness have been defeated three times at the quarter-final stage of the competition in the past, most recently against Aberdeen last season in a 4-1 loss.

However Brewster is hopeful that his side can finally earn a place in the last four of the cup.

"It would be nice to get into the semi-final, especially as we don't have a great cup tradition," he said.

"We hope we can change that against Falkirk."

The Highlanders already know what it feels like to defeat John Hughes' side at the Falkirk Stadium. Dougie Imrie's late-strike gave them a 2-1 victory there back in August.

Brewster, whose only absentee for the match is the injured Phil McGuire, is hoping for more of the same tomorrow evening.

He added: "It was a great performance that day and we need another one tomorrow night to get us into the semi-final. We have got to take confidence from the way we played against them last time."

Inverness will still be smarting after throwing away a one-goal lead against Motherwell in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League at the weekend.

However they will have been boosted by the news that Falkirk forward Steve Lovell will miss the match through suspension, after being sent-off against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Nonetheless, Brewster is expecting a tough match against a Falkirk side that will be just as desperate as Caley to get themselves into the last four of the competition.

He said: "We know that they'll be determined to win the match and we just have to be ready for it."

    :rotflmao: :thumb04: Yes READY WILLING & ABLE :018: ;)

  9. Ive been taking my kids to the fireworks display at the bught every year since they were little

I know its all about safety , but does anyone else agree that its a bit boring , same thing year in year out

When i was a bairn the lead up to Halloween & Bonfire night was so exciting

Nowadays people are frightened to let their kids out or frightened to answer their doors

A sad sign of the times :rotflmao:

  10. You lot are all SO young! I am still young enough to not qualify for concession at Hearts games (and several other meanies of SPL teams who demand concessions for over 65s only) but I can remember as a primary school child being taken for the day out into town and going to a Meal Store in Eastgate! Bags of flour etc., even dog biscuits, for sale in cloth sacks.

Who remembers that? Or am I havering?

Wow shops like that went out with the ark , but one thing i do remember as a bairn is getting Broken biscuits in Woolies

  11. was thinking of taking young Cairn to the rangers game at IPOX, where are the buses leaving from for this game?, do you stop at a club for a meal and a drink and are kids allowed in? We could drive down as we do a lot for games but now its time for him to experience the supporters buses and get to know more fans , as one day he will want to go on his own with his pals.

Now i hope there is no swearing or drinking on these buses :rotflmao:

If you require any information regarding the Supporters Buses please contact me (Kath 07715 833250 )as I organise the buses to away games and some of the information being given out by others is not accurate.

OOooOOO Sorry for getting there before you & stepping on your important toes !

I only thought i was being helpful & just for the record was any of the information i gave incorrect ?

No hassle bus's are well supervised

  13. Strachan's after match comments .......

"It was a poor game. The first half wasn't very good. The second half improved to average.

"But when did you see a real good Celtic-Inverness game here? I've not seen one yet. I've seen exciting finishes, strange goals, silly tackles, sendings off, near sendings off. I've seen everything but good football.

"Why? There's some mysteries in this world that can't be solved. We've just got to deal with them.

"The reason we started with one up front is obvious - we've lost three terrific strikers. The guy we've got playing up front (Scott McDonald) got off a plane last night, so it's not easy to travel round the world and then play right away. He wouldn't have played if we had our other strikers fit."

I believe this proves my theory that short gingers are particularly susceptible to mental health problems.

What an ungracious little **** - even when his team wins.

Did Brew bemoan Hastings' international travels during the week?

No wonder even the Celtic faithful find this "man" a complete embarassment.

Aye & did you no hear him moaning about the wind , he got his 3 points what more does he want BLOOD !!!!

  14. Where was the flag put up?

It was originally put up infront of the Renualt Motors sign at the back of secxtion G but was later moved to the back of section H due to there being no advertisement boards there.

If the flag wasn't blocking any advertising boards then I don't see the reason for it being removed? Especially seeing as there were at least 3 away flags hung in the back of the south stand?

Aye its the usual though , different rules for each end of the park !! :rotflmao:
