  1. The posts in this thread have reminded me of a lecturer I had at Aberdeen called Byron Criddle. He always used to say that a young person who wasn't a socialist doesn't have a heart while a person out of their teens and a socialist doesn't have a head. I googled this tonight and I am guessing he was quoting David Lloyd George. Either way I think it's great young people are discussing politics.

On a more cynical point, have a think about this quote below in relation to the way in which bankers are being vilified in the media at the moment.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

    Winston Churchill

  2. I'll try the team issues.

I actually believe our team now is better than it was when we won promotion the last time. Better in attack excellent goalkeeper promising midfielders and in Hayes one of the most exciting players to have played for ICT. It is only our back four that are costing us numerous points.

If we can sign a decent centre half it would make a huge difference. I think that losing Dods was a huge blow.

  3. If you've been to any of the clubs below then you'll already have paid those prices.

Catering at Celtic, both Dundee's, St Johnstone, Livi, Motherwell and Hibs is run by this company.

The catering at those clubs is dire .

Hmmmm the peh I had at the 'well was good.

  4. I would say a fans buyout would be extremely difficult to achieve. David Sutherland is not going to give up his interest for nothing, nor are the other shareholders, so the first five million or so raised would not go to the club but would instead go into the pockets of the shareholders. Another five million on top of that to see the club through the first couple of seasons and to ensure a steady footing for the future. Around 3000 fans would need to find about ?3.5k each for a successful buyout.

    I'm in.

On a more serious note though, If you've haven't done so, you can play the centenary club lottery - I'm pretty sure I'm only 6.50 a month direct debit. And if you've got kids (or for yourself), how about opening a Caley Thistle saver account with the Scottish Building Society. I've still got one and the staff in there are brilliant.

  5. @ Caleyd, I thought we had the same pies as Clach, and they were recently voted as the best in Scottish football, taking over from Kilmarnock. They were good.

Nope.....certainly not available from the kiosks, although they have been available in the Kingsmills Club, who are still using the MacDougall and Hastie pies, of which the Steak and Gravy Pie was voted best in the UK.

Why didn't they sell them all round the ground?

Because the catering contracts for the Kingsmills Club and Kiosks were (and still are) separate and done by different companies.

Why? Because the demands and requirements for each are different.

Ah. So regular punters no likey good peeeehs...

  6. I think Renegade is perfectly entitled - and correct - to compare Fidel Castro to any other dictator. I find it amusing that such oligarchical power structures exist where people claim to be working toward a socialist utopia.

Surely if Castro had been so successful his state aparatus would no longer be needed? Kim Jong Il - passing the reigns to his son through ill health, Saddam used his sons against the Iraqi people to brutal effect and, oh, Castro is passing the reigns over to his brother... There's no pattern there at all?

You also need to address the issue of human emacipation DornochCaley. How is this to be achieved within a 'communist' Cuba?

  7. For a start, it has nothing to do with any "Class Divide" or anyone thinking they are any better than anyone else. You ramble on about pies and hospitality as if they actually matter in the grand scheme of things....and the fact that the club have had little by way of hospitality running this season, having moved to the Kingsmills Club setup instead would blow that argument right out of the water from the get go. Not to mention that the club would argue, quite validly, that they have acted to improve the catering and that it cannot be judged on a single week and that they moved to do this due to the fact the listened to the fans. Aside from anything else, the club would not be where it is, or have lasted as long as it has without the corporate side of things.

Really, when you get right down to it, ICT is well and truly in the doodoo and I'm pretty much of the opinion that it's gone so far the wrong way that it's going to take a major disaster before we get to a point where we can start building again....only one man has the power to stop that happening and I don't hold out much hope of him doing what's necessary.

ICT will be in administration within 12 months....18 at most, and there's not a single thing any of us can do to prevent it. The bank balance has disappeared, debts will be mounting and expenditure is outstripping income on just about every front.

All the nice pies, cheap tickets and pleasant exchange of questions and answers in the world isn't going to bring this club back into line.

So why do these things? Why waste our time pursuing points and changes that will make no difference to my predicted fate?...because we have to show what works, we have to be prepared for when the chit really does hit the fan so we know how best to rebuild.

I've resigned myself to the inevitable, but that doesn't mean I won't stop doing anything I can do to increase the support and to try and keep the support we have. God knows we're going to need every person and every penny we can muster in the not too distant future and fans need to start coming together now because we might be on the brink of losing a battle, but we can and will still win the war if all stick together.

That might all sound very dramatic and a bit theatrical...mock me if you will, but please remember to bookmark the post for future reference.

    So the club's doomed?

  8. @ Caleyd, I thought we had the same pies as Clach, and they were recently voted as the best in Scottish football, taking over from Kilmarnock. They were good.

  9. Wow. Well done ICT on giving Lindley Catering a five and a half year deal.

The pie was excellent while the piping hot bovril hit the spot.

I agree with you 100%. Absolutely shocking today. IMHO.

Thank God we're away to the pars next week - Stephens Bridies - bring it on!

I reckon from now on take a piece to caley park.

By the way is the burger van at the front now gone on a permanent basis? I went to get a Macaroni pie, as gordyfromsneck did, BEFORE the game and they were sold out!!

Settled for a bovril - which was lukewarm at best. The schoolkids serving weren't the most polite people I've dealt with all week... But hey ho folks - ICT in a nutshell these days. I hope they club make a lot of new money from this deal. If they do then that'll be a positive.

Seriously, what is happening with this club? This is a clear indication that the fans should have far more of a say, and be far more involved, in the decision making and running of ICT.

Take the first post with a very large dollop of sarcasm :D. You're just rubbing it in CaleyD getting good quality (free) peeehs up in hospitality!

  10. The crowd would have been significantly lower had it not been for the decent travelling support. Hats off to Raith for turning up in decent numbers.

Again, perhaps a case for u16s going free to some matches?

  11. Am I missing something here..................experienced a long wait for a coffee and steak pie BEFORE kick off......prices through the roof and service worse than ever. At half time missed the first ten minutes of the second half waiting for a fecking coffee!!

The staff on the stall were all young kids from Edinburgh !!!

Surely there must be a LOCAL business that can provide a professional service (both cost and quality) once a fortnight at a reasonable price??

Premier league prices should have went last season with our status...................poor bit of business in my humble opinion, ?2.30 for a Balti pie, a range of burgers stating at ?3.00.......get a grip :021: :lol:

Ach well, that's a fiver more left in my pocket every second week and a fiver less in ICT's coffers. At least we're only going to be subjected to this splendid cuisine for another five years, five months and three weeks!

Overpriced and woeful quality. I'm saying no more on this issue.

  12. I thought LDZ was great today! His fall/dive in the box was sheer class and pure entertainment.

He should definately start again next week. I'd also like to see Barrowman start again the Pars. They're going go be hard to beat.

  13. I too tried to get a macaroni pie at 2.30 to be told they had run out as they only had six to start with. Hopefully from all the people asking for them they'll realise they're a better seller and order more in for the next game. Was pretty annoyed as no other veggi option to warm me up.

Take yourself to Subway pre-match or make yourself a piece mun.

  14. This is a clear indication that the fans should have far more of a say, and be far more involved, in the decision making and running of ICT.

    :021:

    My sentiments also SMEE!!

Are they REALLY trying to grind this club in to the earth and dirt?

  15. Had a very good steak pie though it burnt the mouth off me. The prices have increased a lot which is not good!

    Welcome our new caterers!

Teas - 20p up, no improvement in quality.

All 5 macaroni pies sold out by 2.50 in the away pie stall. Prices up 20p.

    Staff brought up from Edinburgh.

    Hurrah for the new regime!

I agree with you 100%. Absolutely shocking today. IMHO.
