  1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aston_villa/8898993.stm Well done to Kevin MacDonald ex caley, the job will probably go to an overpaid foreigner but its one for the history books none the less.
  2. If Esson continues last years form but in the SPL it is only a matter of time before a bigger team comes in and makes a bid for him. I think he was probably expecting a bid at the end of last season.
  3. I am really puzzled as to why he didn't choose a goalkeeper till 2 hours before. A goalkeeper needs to have good communication with the defenders and the defenders need to have faith in their keeper. Personally I would let Michael Fraser in Goal before putting James anywhere near. Joe Hart should have got the nod and a lot sooner than two hours before, but now he has made a commitment with green he should honour it. One game is not enough to go on, one goal let in is not that bad and he made amends with that save in the second half. why not give Rooney pelters for not even looking like he could score.
  4. I'm not sure where you are going with the "when there are no caravans, things don't disappear." Mannie, everybody would like to beleive that all theives and ******* are from different communities. Incidentally to all, if you cant carry on this discussion without calling each other erseholes then you are not doing yourself proud. On the subject of name calling I apologise for saying Mrs ICTFC was a bit snobby, it was toungue in cheek and I hope it was taken this way. Of course schools and playgrounds should not become settling points as they are too valuable to the community and I would imagine there are a lot of travellers who do not approve of that incident. There is incidentally an inverted snobbery amongst some travellers, but mostly the reason they seem standoffish at times is that on the whole their relationship with non travellers is not a happy one. Remember they might have felt exclusion and prejudice from primary school onwards. I cant think of any shiny good deeds a traveller has done lately but I cannot think of any good deeds anybody has done lately largely because good deeds tend to go unreported whereas a bad one will be reported and get blown out of propotion. Oh and Mannie, raping and pillaging might well have happened historically it also still happens in some african villages but I don't think, even when the vikings landed that they ever intended to make it traditional.
  5. Not really following the english bashing, not against it you understand just not following it. Incidentally hasn't pull my finger got a great rack.
  6. Quite a balanced argument this well done, I was expecting loads of comments along the lines of mrsictfc posts. incidentally she does not come accross as racist although a bit snobby and NIMBY. Longman is full has been for some time now, I have a friend who works there. Every society has their share of tax evaders, benefit fraudsters, theives and drunks or druggies. Equally every society has loving families, people who would never do ill by you and people who will toil from dawn to dusk. It is a big society and we should try to see past stereotypes, otherwise were all haggis munching teuchters who drink too much whisky and fornicate with farm animals. Lastly imagine how you would survive if you were suddenly forced to live out of a caravan (I'm not saying thats what happened) with no electricity, no water, no phone, no weekly rubbish collection. Some would survive well and not trouble another soul and some would be setting up on the outskirts of towns so that there families could use the services that that town offers.
  7. Interesting argument. Personally I wouldn't vote to put gaelic roadsigns ahead of childrens schools, libraries, community centres etc. But I wouldnt put the highland house expo, Eden court, Highland social work bosses, chief executives, anything HIE does, the feck up that is the town centre, inverness streetscape, the kessock bridge fire works, the outsider festival in Aviemore or councillors lunches ahead of these cuts either. Please put a reasoned argument and not an emotional one. Money is "wasted" by local goverment by the bucketload and the gaelic mafia is not the biggest feeder. I don't agree with the road signs as I said earlier but I also would like to see the "ancient and dying language" preserved because it is part of a highlanders heritage.
  8. "These incidents are an insult to our culture and heritage - and if we lose those - we might as well be one big England!" That is now my favourite saying, it is interesting re this debate that the pro gaelic supporters are not the ones making personal insults, nor are they the ones that pretend to speak for the nation. I dont agree with gaelic road signs anymore than I would support caithness or orkney getting nordic place names or aberdeenshire getting doric place names. I am however extremely wary of this knee jerk reaction to belittle the things that you do not like or understand. With gaelic would also go the kilt and the bagpipes as they too have no part in this modern "must be the same as everybody else" world. I enjoy wearing the kilt I can think of no better way to illustrate a highlanders individuality and the pipes when played outside can fair get your heart going, so if the gaels want to promote their heritage let them. Just because it is not your heritage doesn't meant its not important.
  9. Contentious issue I know but to me a season ticket is just that for one season and there should be no guarantee that you will get the same seat again anyway. It is not outragous treatment by the club they are doing there best to accomodate everybody. if the people involved don't want to move and the club forces them or just refuses to sell them a ticket then, maybe it would be unfair, but just asking people nicely should not bring forward a tirade of abuse or for that matter the need to involve the P&J.
  10. Got it yesterday thanks to all involved very professional production and very efficently parcelled and distributed.
  11. I was pleased that a 1st division team beat Celtic it furthers the cause for a bigger SPL. I am also pleased that both highland teams are doing well, just as I would be if any of the highland league clubs came into the 3rd division and were doing well. I cannot bring myself to want County to win the Scottish cup before us but it would be one hell of an acheivement. It has been good to be in the same league as them this season I have enjoyed the derby days again and I personally wish the Spl was made bigger as it would be a lot more exciting with ICT, County, Dundee and Queen of the south in it. To the usual suspects who were attacking the original posters point of view you are no better than the old firm bigots. Telford Street was a long long time ago I personally disliked Thistle much more than County but those days are gone now. This team is not caley or thistle both those teams are finished, ICT is a new team for anybody in Inverness and if the younger generation are going to hate county let them do it for there own reasons.
  12. http://www.youtube.com/user/ANDYNKAJ#p/u/4/fCdVSNvs33U If this is the same andyknaj on you tube then he is already a bloody god, and ICT should sign him up for a yearly dvd.
  13. I thought the filming was very high quality better than sportscene really, and the closing sequence was superb. Johnboy I think you would be better to ask bbc scotland to cover div 1 games rather than complain about bbc alba all the time it is after all doing what it is set up for which is gaelic programmes. I don't speak gaelic but I have no issue with those who do, I do think the dual road signs are a waste of time and especially insulting to those in Caithness or aberdeenshire, but I dont grudge them a telly channel.
  14. 200,000 Surely first division games could be covered by anybody who buys the rights, personally I am delighted that gaelic money is finally being put to some good use. I presume those that dislike the gaelic are free not to watch. You are in the highlands of scotland if folk want to talk odd languages, wear kilts, play bagpipes you are just going to have to take it.
  15. Compelling read and very honest, Interesting that his most successful and enjoyable work seems to be in social work. I look forward to his next book "How I knocked all the gambling and drinking crap on the head, to become the next scotland manager". Seriously his teams were good despite the out of control lifestyle, he should take a job with a lower english team build back up his reputation.
  16. Good advert for the game, after getting cut loose by Man U, he has had every opportunity to bad mouth them or ferguson, but never has that is why he got his ovation. Better role model than George Best or Gazza, never backs away from a challenge but don't remember him starting trouble much either. After returning to the MLS from Italy he was getting dogs abuse from the fans but he kept the head and won them over again. The mistakes he has made hes learnt from, how many other celebrity players can say that. For all those that don't rate him, imagine if he was scottish.
  17. Croylo

    Foran

After Rooney scored the third penalty, the QOS No 3 was trying to get the ball back of him and was taking mad swings at Rooney, very impressed by the way Foran innocently backed into him sending him sprawling into the net.
  18. Leave him be now, we all spit the dummy from time to time and sometimes we regret it. What is it they say, by all means write an angry letter but don't post it untill the morning. whats surprising me is how positive some of these posts have been about the team. Its like a different forum.
  19. Is ICT away record (where they don't boo) better than their home record (where they do)?. You are there to support the team, sing the songs and enjoy the atmosphere. If you dont like the performance go and watch someone else. Or go and watch a highland league game and watch supporters who believe in their team regardless.
  20. Leakey has done well, when you consider that some new bookshops don't make any money. I have never grudged him his prices and as the poster before said you are not obliged to shop there. I bought some decent copies of the inverness field club volumes for ?18 each and was happy to pay that as they are hard to come by. Also nice cafe great woodburning stove and I am happy to see a building used instead of falling down. Has Inverness changed or have you changed for example do you drive now instead of walking everywhere, do you now want a ciabatta with parma ham instead of a pie and beans. Did you used to enjoy a pint in the afternoon whereas you are too busy these days. In short the craic is much the same but you are not currently part of it, Find the people you used to hang with and go out its the same as it was, somtimes better. So the next time you are in the town find what you like, not what you don't, if there is no craic, then make some. If you dont then you are just another one of those depressed looking people wandering the street.
  21. Man goes into a bakers and asks "Is that a scone or a meringue?" the baker replies "No your right enough, its a scone"
  22. "To toe a company line". Some of the ideas here are a little bit archaic, most of all that an employee must agree with everything his employer does. Do all Tesco employees have to be happy that the company is driving down the price of produce to such a degree that farmers are unable to make a living. Or all Primark employees have to be happy that their product is flouting child labour laws. All employees whether paid or not have to constantly assess the facts and decide whether or not they want to work in this environment. Employers cannot decide that they dont wont someone to work with them because of their beliefs and or complaints. If Caley D was let go because he wasn't very good or because he was causing trouble at his work then fair enough. But as far as I gathered he wasn't abusing his position, and regardless of his personal opinion was putting his all in making sure that people enjoyed the footballing experience, Also he was going to enhance that with footage of the games which we have all missed. If his employers had judged him to have crossed a line then they should have told him what they expect and Caley D could have decided if he could live with this. To let him go in such a manner shows a lack of respect and a lack of professionalism, it has also made Darren look like a puppet with no real power. It would have been far better to sit him down after a game and have a quiet word.
  23. "I would doubt there was much Darren could do" - We are all free thinking individuals and he decided to fly with the crows, pretty poor after Caley D defended him over the Pie shop business.
  24. Fair play to you Caley D, for the time you put in at the club and for not coming on here ranting when you got dumped on. Shame to see Darren has become a puppet so fast, I think everybody wished him well not long ago. The oddest part of this is how scared these people are of one person repeating the facts as they happened. So keep it up, dont let the b'stards get you down and the club is all the poorer without you. I read these forums quite a lot, never comment cos of all the shouters, whingers and blowhards on the site but I have never been compelled to boycott a Caley game untill now. P.S. Can the blowhards not use this post to underline their on point as that's just tedious.
  25. Used to love Casa Italia what happened?, Oh and they had a signed caley top on the way up the stairs. If its posh food you want theirs also the classroom at nairn!
