  1. Far too early to judge CC as he is still serving his apprenticeship - that's why DP is here!

We really do have to give him a chance and yes we will have some bad results.

The main thing is that he learns from mistakes and here's hoping he makes a success of the job.

However, if we are staring relegation in the face later in the season I feel we will see movement on the managerial front as the club cannot afford to drop to the 1st division.

I'm all for constructive criticism but let's give this local guy a fair chance as he is well aware of the implications of failure.

  2. What i would like to know is how does information like this get leaked out, as im sure the club staff wouldnt want stuff like this plastered over the page if their job was being discussed.

Maybe because L_G is never out of the place!

  3. As an aside to Scotty's comments regarding pre-season tours, etc to Poland, I noticed that the club are now advertising forthcoming fixtures in the Inverness Courier bi-lingually - in English & Polish!!

I know that the club have been criticised in the past for the commercial side of the business being slightly behind the footballing side in terms of progression, but I think this recent marketing ploy is to be commended.  Infact, apart from this bi-lingual advertising, there seems to be a number of positive steps being taken by the club recently regarding commercial activity.  Long may it continue!

  4. Hey you lot - how about getting off Bonzo's back - he is entitled to his opinion!

Why should this site only be for people who want to patronise Directors, Managers and Players?

eh....the majority of users on this site are supportive of the directors, managers and players.  theres only a small minority like bonzo who have their heads up their erse

    :popular02:

  5. Why not try Charles Bannerman's book Against All Odds which gives a very good account of how the club was formed. Ian Broadfoot also wrote a book of statistics abot the first 10 years of the club but I can't remember the title.

  6. Black's mind certainly seemed to be wandering when I saw him today - pressed the button for the Pelican Crossing, sat in a wee world of his own as the wee green man came and went then decided to cross the road.  :015:

Ach, just amnother late "tackle"  :sleep01:

  7. Just because you play the game doesn't mean you will be a good coach. If he wants to be a coach, has he taken the time to sit his coaching qualifications during the close season? The club would then need to take opinion from his assessors as to his ability as a coach before they commit to such a contract.

  8. IMO there is absolutely no need for an SPL2 as this has the potential to decimate the SFL.

Maybe a debate on extending the SPL to 16 teams would be more advantageous to everyone. SFL "Championship" with 16 teams (all full-time). Two Regional SFL leagues with up to 16 part-time teams in each. Highland League and East/South of Scotland League again with up to 16 teams in each.

    Promotion/Relegation

2 down from SPL to SFL

2 up from SFL Championship to SPL

1 up from winners of Regional SFL Play Off

1 down from each Regional SFL to HFL and E/SoSL

    ! up from both HFL & E/SoSL

    ??

  9. This really is dragging on.

Why do we want to keep a player who has requested a transfer?  :024:

Why would we play a player who has requestd a transfer when we have a capable alternative on the bench?  :024:

Why would a player who has requested a transfer retain the captaincy?  :024:

Come on let's cash him in now whilst he is worth something. If we can get £35k for a reserve, Dods must be worth £50k - £75k.  :021:

  10. From BBC Sport site

"Graeme Bennett's latest sneer regarding Utd's bids for your players should send you crofters up to the ground to complain.

This man is 100% useless, acting like a sulking child and, by rejecting a transfer request from Dods is depriving your club of whatever fee we'd pay for him now (£50k?) as opposed to the £0 we'll get him for in January.

Add to that Bennett's unprofessional ineptitude and general lack of courtesy in choosing not to respond to our bid for Proctor (who ICT are happy to see leave), thus delaying another £40k to your club, and ICT have employed the most incompetent, immature and worthless 'Director of Football' in the UK.

Dods and Proctor both want to come to Tannadice, they will end up at Tannadice either this season or the next, so why would you turn down between £75k - £100k for the players when they will quite clearly leave for nothing in a matter of months?

This guy is an embarrassment to football and to ICT and is doing your club a huge disservice with his primary school behaviour.

Thoughts? Or are you lot all cut from the same cloth?"

Come on Grassa they are now starting to take the fish - do the deal and move on  :sleep01:

  11. Sooner this is settled the better, to give us time to enhance the squad if necessary before the window closes.  Dods has done more for ICT than any of us ever expected, and history will look on his time as the high water mark in his career.

It seems unthinkable that he can play for ICT while he wants away.  Caff will be relishing the prospect of a run in the team.

You are spot on DJS. He has done extremely well for ONE season and I'm sure he has been very well paid for it. He hasn't been here anywhere near long enough to earn the legend tag and has started the season relatively poorly. He has known for some time that Brewster wants him in the City of Discovery and this has obviously unsettled him. We have done his career no harm at all, infact we have probably enabled him to re-launch it.

Thanks Dodsy, time to move on and good luck in Dundee.  :clapping04:

Thanks Grocer, we have had the best of him and your cheque will be spent wisely.  :011:

  12. The player has asked for a transfer so he must NOT play at ANY level for this club. He wants to go to DU so we should take what we can get because he will be worth £0 come January.

Dods had a great season 05/06 but let's not forget that he has been very much a journeyman pro for many years and I really do not see his performances this season getting anywhere near last years standards.

Grassa and Sutherland will have to eat humble pie and do the business before we lose out completely.

CASH DODS AND PROCTOR IN NOW!

  13. Yeah - I'd have spelt it "heels".

There is also, I think, the option of offloading him in January.

I think Dods has been great for us and will be sorry to see him go. If he wants to see out his contract then hang on to him - make him captain, a role he performed brilliantly last season, and give him the opportunity to put himself in the shop window.

Then at the January transfer window, consider the options and hope to **** a club other than Dundee Utd. make a decent offer for him. Otherwise release him on completion of his contract.

There is no way our captain should be someone who has said he is going at the end of the season. Grant Munro is the obvious choice.
