  1. Whats the point of this thread.  The heading says the manager is under scrutiny.  From who?  A bunch of guys on a football forum who always think they know better?  This is just another opportunity for the anti-Brew brigade to stick the knife in further.

Well said, what many of the regulars on this forum have to realise is that they are a very small group of people whose views to not represent the views of the ICT Support in general. Very far from it in my opinion.

Brewster is doing a good job, he has made some good signings with room for more before the season begins - particularly with the money raised through the sale of Niculae.

He deserves our full support for the first full season of his second spell in charge.

He deserves the recognition that it is not an easy job sourcing and attracting quality players to Inverness, given our geography and financial limitations.

This should be a supporters forum and would maybe attract a wider membership if it was - it has become a forum on which a small bunch of individuals who believe they have the managerial ability of Alex ferguson constantly deride the club.

Let's give Brewster and the club the support they deserve.

Perhaps it is an element of the "support" who should be put under scrutiny.

Since 2003 87.6% of the posts on this website have followed a fairly predictable format:

Phase 1: One of the usual suspects starts a pointless thread along the lines of "Who should we sack first? Brewster or Niculae?" (If they can work out how to do a poll we get that as an added treat.)

Phase 2: The linguistically-challenged see an opportunity to add to their post count with a one word reply and...well...don't disappoint. Note: statistically 75% are guaranteed to spell that one word wrong.

Phase 3: One of the 'holier than thou' pitch in with a variation on "Well, these guys have families...this is all a bit unseemly."

Phase 4: follows on fairly swiftly with a mix of mods and 'the serious' defending folks' right to free speech (Caley D normally uses this moment to warn that there is a drawn line at which warnings will be handed out.)

Phase 5: Some serious-minded punter suggests 'we get back to the topic' (and the rest of us sigh with relief!)

Phase 6: Party Time! This is the moment the nutcases decide to get busy because we all know the thread is doomed to get locked pretty soon.

Phase 7: is the earnest Mod v Habitual Offender 'conversation'...(there must be a way of doing these exchanges without scaring the horses!)

Phase 8: sensible people avoid the thread, others go to the pub...meantime a half-dozen try to type 'useless' and 'season ticket' without the benefit of opposable thumbs.

Which phase do you pack in your reading?

  2. The whole moving to the Highlands thing is a load of ollocks!  Look at how many players from the central belt County have signed and they all live in sneck.  It is always down to our wage structure plain and simple.

Agreed GJ but the fact is the vast majority of youngsters in UK get nosebleeds if they move 10 miles from their mammy's steak n chips.

Contract with Real Madrid? Nah I'd rather hang out with my mates at some dodgy provincial 'nightclub' week after week.

Stevie Crawford on the other hand would probably miss his local bowls club.

  3. I may be on holiday from teaching, but I still tutted at some of the grammar  :rolleyes02:

...you've obviously led a very sheltered life if you think that's worthy of a tut or two.

    Excellent effort Dougie!!!  :clapping03:

  4. Can't decide if it's a committee's second choice, i.e. the strip of several choices that most didn't like least, or the choice of a madman...

We have Barcelona style stripes to play around with and they go for this crap.

  5. Inverness Thistle Football Club Limited was once again registered (as a PLC) on 14th June 2007 and has a registered address of - FLAT 1, 20 DALKEITH ROAD, DUNDEE, TAYSIDE, DD4 6JU  (Information courtesy of Companies House)

consigned to the anals of history.

...truly the darkest of dark holes.  :014:

  6. When the Royal Bank of Scotland needed more money recently, rather than go through a massive rights issue why didn't they just print more notes for themselves?  :tic01:

Nah, they quickly added up all the bank charges I was paying and realised they were home and hosed... barstewards!

  7. True and hopefully it is the case. Bad choice of words there then. Basically I would like to have been part of Barrys Big Game (how tripe does that sound?) but sadly it will now be unlikely.

I reckon he will be crying himself to sleep at that news!

It's about time RiG became WiG anyway...this could be your own personal testimonial.  :021:

  8. In fairness tho Scotty.....these dishes served over here are catering for European tastes etc and most are not authentic Chinese dishes. Same with Indian food! I bet if a traditional Chinese restraunt was set up here...it be a million miles from the takeaway grub we have become accustomed to. Your also living in a major city remember!

    Fair point.

Although, to be honest ..... as much as I can praise Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai or other South Asian restaurants over here and understand that they are very authentic because they primarily cater to the large number of 1st or 2nd generation immigrants from their own community, I cant for the life of me explain why finding a good Indian restaurant is so much more difficult ... There are a lot of East Indians in Toronto and I have yet to find a decent restaurant .... or maybe it is me ... maybe I like authentic Chinese food but am more in tune with UK style Indian food .....

Ain't that the truth! In China there isn't really one food that is 'Chinese' - every province has its own style. The Yangtse River is the point at which the southern rice eaters change to the northern noodle eaters. Even now transportation of foodstuffs is limited, so people are really stuck to what the local climate can produce.

  9. It's all a conspiracy by florists and greetings card manufacturers.

Roses which were ?18 a dozen last week are suddenly ?4.50 a stem today.

A brief restbite and the same set of conspirators present us with mothers' day in two weeks time. Between the two of them I suspect that there wont be much change out of ?300. At least it's almost a full year until until Christmas !

Incidentally, does any other country have daft days like us or are we unique in this crap?

America has "War Day".   And I believe that last week was "For Pete's Sake Week", and this week is "Pie Week".

China has 'Sweeping the Graves Day' - something we should adopt on this site since English has apparently passed away...

  10. Action man....its ok........it comes to us all..............I know a good vet, one wee jab, and it could all yer suffering could be over :blah01:

It is a worry, but at least I can still write properly constructed sentences.  :blah01:

This is neither the time or the place however a comma and an adjacent conjunction is a misconstruction. Sorry.  :blah01: :blah01:

  11. Just heard from Barrys family that he will be going to St Johnstone on loan til end of season.  :029: :029:

He feels left out of things and at his age needs to play every week and will get straight into ther team. He hasent featured mutch under Brewster over the last 6/7 weeks and just wants a game.

He feels he hasent had a fair crack of the whip when the team have been underperforming and hes not even getting onto the bench.

    l

    What a grate post...!

  12. We all have our own views on the merits and performance of different ICT players.

At times we would all select a team different from the one Brewster puts out.

However, I thank god it's Brewster picking our team and

not the likes of Bronson, Highlandbadger, RiG and IHE!

...or Charlie Christie. We're on the edge of the top 6, ahead of so-called better sides, better points per game than any previous SPL season* and about due to give an unsuspecting opponent a right good gubbing...thank god it's Brewster!

    *+/- 10 points

  13. In my experience it?s difficult for locally based reporters to stray too far from the party line. Not a criticism, just realisation that a certain dynamic is at play.

lets just say that reporters or publications that have previously asked "uncomfortable" questions, or printed less than flattering articles have found themselves somewhat frozen out (for at least a little while) on game days or at press conferences.

Inverness may be a city in some respects, but in others it is still a very small town !!!

To be fair, a certain knighted gaffer from one of the world's top 2 earning teams from a large English city has been known to freeze out the world's so-called most 'respected' broadcasting corporation from time to time...so it's perhaps hardly a small town method of kneeing the media in the proverbials.

  14. Niculae wasted another opportunity when he got a McBain pass tangled between his legs with Rankin in space at the far post. Nobody seemed sure whether he was attempting to dummy it or control it. To be fair to Marius, I thought this was one of his better games and for the first time I thought he deserved all those Champions League players around him to read his intentions......

I thought you'd title this one "How Do You Solve The Problem of Marius?"  :023:

Without going over all the old arguments about his position, pace, class, control...you are right to mention those around him. There seems a good spirit about and you can see the players talking about where they want the ball played, but, something's starting to niggle in my head that the learning phase should be over by now.

  15. By the way, I'm no regular by any means but what a great atmosphere in the away stand yesterday. We were shoe-horned into those bloody awful Tynie seats but it didn't stop a remarkable number of away fans bossing the home support.

First half it was like we were the home team...on and off the pitch!

    :clapping03:

  16. Anything less than 12 points and Brewster should be sacked to give the new manager a chance to deal in the transfer window  :crazy07:

    :tic01:

Beware the four horsemen of a manager's demise:

Player Unrest: Rumours abound of dressing room disquiet.

Player Revolt: Chairman intervenes to quell a schism.

Relegation Flirtation: Setanta cash flies out of window.

    Vote of Confidence: 'Nuff said.

Perhaps Brew's efforts to get the lads off the Pringles and lager n limes may have unsettled a few of them but he's got a TEAM out there that are capable of taking 8 points nae probs.
