  1. CaleyD, as the Lynne Truss of our forum I need some guidance. The following is from a contributor who is a serial offender of the erroneous their/there, please help me correct it:

"Seems like someone somewhere has really screwed up on this and instead of repeating names on the back the whole top portion could have been left clear and names printed on the lower portion so as everyone was just on their once and not obscured by names and numbers."

It's a big glass house we inhabit, chuck a stone at your peril...  :023:

  2. Anyone remember Basil groping for a lightswitch in the company of a shapely Australian girl?   :001:

    :rotflmao:

Something we agree on finally JB  :003:

I remember watching that scene as a kid in the company of my parents. Frantically trying to suppress laughter I noticed my father was in a similar state. Outstanding mammaries memories!

  3. Blimey, don't get me started.

Deep fried scorpions: wonderful; fried larvae; locusts; you'll need to ask Naelifts about the silkworm on a stick, it was just a tad overdone looking for my taste; horse was ok; sea slugs were gag inducing (have a large glass of beer very close by) but actually I quite like them now; fish head for the VIP (dammit!); braised turtle of course (couldn't help thinking of the Blue Peter tortoise as I ripped the shell off!).

Bugs, slugs, beetles, dogs, cats...you name it, they'll cook it. I sometimes wonder if the Chinese serve up some of this stuff just as a joke for the foreigner.

The only thing I still cannot touch is a conch-like shell creature. You dig around with your chopsticks to get a purchase on the poor tennis ball sized beast and then it squelches out trailing various green muccus. Apparently it tastes of chicken but I never got that far!

Pig's ear; spicy chickens' feet; both good...the 1000 year old eggs are outstanding! Freaky colour but taste great!

Now, if you think the above is bad, how many of you have had a sausage in UK recently? I think the assorted anus, nostril and toe clippings that constitute the content of your average sausage is infinitely less edible than anything you'll find in China.

(FAO British Sausage Federation: For legal purposes we should make it clear that this website does not endorse the above malicious slur on the great british sausage. We understand they are nutritious, non-fattening and contain only the most prime of meat ingredients. If you would like to send us any samples please contact admin@caleythistleonline.com)

  4. A medical professor was lecturing his 1st year students about involuntary muscle contractions . To liven up the lesson he asked one of the female students: "As an example do you know what your ******** does while you are having an orgasm ?" She replies:

"He's probably at Ibrox watching  Rangers"

    Beat that Gringo! :016:

  5. Dean is a big boy and I'm sure he's heard worse. Every club has its morons, I've heard equally embarrassing chants from Hibs fans and at the same time every messageboard has its resident clown, like [NAME REMOVED]. If you go onto Hibs.net you'll find a few carbon copies trying to push the limits of common decency, hinting at what their corrupt minds really thing but lacking the kahoonas to come out and clearly say what they can only imply. banana references? Stick them up your bigotted rearend!

    Yep, fair 'nuff! Good post.

[modbreak=Admin Comment]removed portion of previous post that had been quoted.[/modbreak]

  6. Excellent game! Many positives and well worth travelling around the world for :011:

Outstanding work rate from the whole team (nae worry IHE, I'm getting help with my Marius Complex) and it's hard to imagine that Brew will improve these fitness levels. If anything it was the gaffer himself who looked the first to tire.

Defensive line looked as dependable as at any time I've seen them. Roscoe clunky as ever but rarely fails to position himself in the right place. Munro looked comfortable as captain and even though he bawled out Caff on at least one occasion the pair seemed to have a good understanding.

In a crowded midfield (Collins was constantly trying to get his wide players out to the touchline) I thought Black was the class act. Made himself available and I only remember one howler in a difficult area of the park. Just shows you really need to get to the games and make your own mind up about the team.

There was one good passing side on view yesterday and one counter-attacking team. We just didn't allow Hibs to play for long periods. If ICT can maintain this standard then we'll climb the league table.

    Well done to the team!

  7. Always took you as a fairly intelligent person

    Ouch Don, that hurt! :004:

Not to self - make sure site ends up blocked by the Great Firewall of China  :moon02:

OK OK...I'll buy you a pie at Easter Rd.  :rolleyes02:

Don't deprive me of this entertainment please...Chinese TV ain't that good!

  8. Denial - Anger - Bargaining - Depression - Acceptance

Just tick off the boxes as you go along folks  :004:

CaleyD, like most of the nay-sayers on the topic of Brew's return you are positioning yourself so you can say "I told you so" if/when he doesn't give us the return we want come the turn of the year.

One or two of you have said, "I'll delightedly eat humble pie if we are mid-table by the time Santa visits", no you won't, you'll be quietly moderating on the topics (Cup, Transfers, League etc)...with no mention of this disgusting personal abuse of Craig Brewster.

This is a pathetic episode for Caley Thistle Fans.

  9. But getting pack to the title of the thread, could the cynics please tell me when ourboard have ever let us down - from taking risks on Paterson, Robertson, brewster and Christie, to groundsharing at Pittodrie, getting the stands built, making a profit 3 years in a row.....

Well said Yngwie.  I join you as one of the few who don't think the Board has done a bad job.  Even though Brew was not my own choice, I don't think they had a lot of choice.  Warnock (as I've said on other threads) was never a realistic possibility (and certainly not my choice ) leaving Owen Coyle (largely untried and surely a bigger risk than Brew).  So Brew virtually picked himself in my view, unless the board were prepared to take longer over the appointment and widen the shortlist

Yep! But not 'the few'... :025:

  10. I'm just a little bit dismayed at the incredibly negative comment on this forum about the return of Craig Brewster and I believe that at least some of it may be the result of misunderstanding and misinformation.

I believe that there's a lot of (unjust) anti Brewster feeling because the nature of his departure in January 2006 has not been fully understood. Weeks before he left, he was unfortunately "ambushed" into indicating that he was at ICT to stay. Then a very persuasive Eddie Thomson came in with an offer he couldn't refuse. I was there when Brewster made that first statement - which was solicited rather than volunteered -  and he really couldn't have said anything else, nor could he have read the future. Then when he did leave, it was only after a great deal of persuasion, a great deal of thought, yes, a very good financial offer but who wouldn't be influenced by that? Then most of importantly of all, he refused to leave unless Caley Thistle got very generous compensation. This last fact is not very well known and the cash concerned created that year's profit.

There are also complaints about his record and his style of play. His results at Inverness were pretty good and you cannot take into account his poor statistics at Tannadice. He did not suddenly become a bad manager overnight, but he did move into a much less positive football environment overnight. I don't believe many of his United players (despite their hefty pay cheques) were prepared to put in the work he demanded and I think that when he went there, working under Eddie Thomson was not quite what he expected.... as many other managers have found. On the other hand the Brewster - ICT combination has already been proved to work.

If there is concern about his style of play, don't panic. You may very well find a positively different and more experienced Craig Brewster from the one which left 19 months ago. But he will certainly not have changed in his desire to produce a fit team.

I also think that some of the anti Brewster sentiment has been generated by the fact that the new man will NOT be Neil Warnock. For some reason a lot of fans seemed to be drawn into a storm of pro Warnock hysteria... but on the basis of what? A statement from Warnock which smacked seriously of the shop window? Did the directors ever really rate him as a realistic option? Would his financial requirements have been realsitic? How big a risk would there have been of him being away in months to the Premiership or the Championship? Does he really know much about Scotland outside the Old Firm?

If fans feel deprived of their high profile manager, think back to Jim Leishman and Sergei Baltacha. These were both high profile managers taken in by Thistle and Caley in the early 90s and both proved to be failures. Apart from the refusal of both to relocate to Inverness, neither understood football at the level at which they were managing and this was the main reason for their failure to produce. I believe Neil Warnock may well have fallen into the same trap and then we might well have got a lot more of the dressing room dramatics which someone at Wednesday night's meeting said they witnessed on U Tube.

Craig Brewster is here... or at least he will be on Monday. I don't really see much reason for Caley Thistle fans not to get solidly behind him and the team who really do need to feel a positive message from their supporters and not carping about the new manager.

Mr Bannerman, not that you were ever 'down' in my estimation...but you are definitely 'up' after that post.

    Well done sir  :022:

  11. am not so sure I can go through with it.

As the Lord Kitchener of the Boycott Brew movement you're going to have to get your disciples in a line behind you on this one.

Good luck, but take a moment and look back through your posts in the last few days...quite a collection!

  12. I don't think that either Pele or Robbo are on the short list.

Robbo must be on somebody's short list?  :023:

If he is to be forgiven for his previous departure then results need to come and come quickly, humble pie needs to be eaten and the appearance of contrition has to be there. Anything else would be unacceptable.

Interesting one Scotty. Results, yes of course, but how to perform the contrition? On bended knees before the main stand? It all seems a bit 'holier than thou'.

  13. With all you people who know and love ICT, how much would it cost(ball park figure)to take over the Directors interest.

As you know I live away, but am pissed off the way the club is going, and have many connections over here, and my wife loves Inverness, so perhaps might dig into the sweetie jar, and it is a big jar.

    Serious

    :clapping03:

Bit early to be on the Rigas Balsam though isn't it Latviaman...? :004:
