  1. Its the Under 16s squad that is over in Denmark, as it is half the under 17s squad this year. The older ones, who are 16 now were ineligable to go, but were there last year. They got to the quarters, and went out to the winners 4-3, and were the only team to score against the winners in the whole tournament. They hit the post in the last minute as well so nearly got it to penalties

  2. Sorry to thik ahead here, but seems to be not overly popular new away kit. I would like us to celebrate our clubs history in full, and think that the blue/red home kit barca style has been the most popular and eyecatching kit we have had. So does anyone think a blue/black internazonale style stip would work. Not many teams would clash, and it would set a style for the team to raise to. I am overwhelmingly in favor of this and look forward to the club taking up the idea. Who likes or hates this idea

  3. Seems pretty clear then. Bobby Mann, as if he had Henrick Larssen in his back pocket, he must have been the best. Certainly hard to argue past the Swede, since he has graced the very highest level, and made great players look mere average. Certainly think he was wasted at Celtic, not in terms of his achievements there, but playing in the SPL i mean.Suprised no one else gave wee Russell a mention even in top 3 or so. Difference between Larson and Bellamy was the welshman told everyone he was great, whereas the swede let everyone see he was great without the talk

  4. So we have thought about the players we would like to see back at the TCS, but who are the best players we have watched at the TCS. League, cup, friendlies and testimonials or reserve outings to get fit? Russel Latapy always impressed me, but twisted sister has carried some big players up here, as have Sheffield Utd etc.

  5. Surely this will be the former players who went on to become bigger players, rather than some who came to us on the way down. Anyone gone on to play in the English premiership? Allan Smart - so was he the best we ever had. Not when he was here I dont think. However those who have sttod out were Robson, Brown, Wyness, Dodds, Cowie, Black. Should we look at internationals? Shearer, Marius, Midadjuks and unquestionably Richard Hastings. The old stagers would include Brew, Shearer, Wilson ( as he got better with age ), Cherry and Billy Urquhart. However as far as favorites and entertainers went - King Jimmy Calder, Stewarty, and Nipper Black for me.

  6. One of the better things aboot the SFL is we are back to the 2 home and 2 away games. None of that 3 away games against a team beside you cr*p. But I think it will be similar to the SPL in that 2 teams will run away from the rest, yule have yer mid table safe few, and there will be a relegation battle for maybe 3 - Ayr, Raith and Livi. Think it'll be us and dee at summit though. Think it will be same in SPheLL, tWISTEd sisters, mid table crew, and Both Saints, Bairns, and Killie to stuggle. Main thing to look foreward too is winning and scoring more often

  7. Maybe McGuires freed up wage could help improve our offer, by way of incentives? He is a class act, and would blow the 1st div away. Hope he doesnt just look at the short term, at ICT he would start when not injured, he is already a fans favorite, and he can concentrate on his footie without to many outside influences. Go on Filipe, you know it feels right with Butcher here.

  8. Foran getting 20+ isnt beyond reality, as fully fit he will be one of our best players, and may turn out to be one of the best we have had in our history. Eric Odihambo will be interesting in the SFL as with his speed as long as we play to the strikers strengths ( unlike last season ) then I can see him creating a lot and finishing a few too. 12+ may not be asking to much of him. Rooooney - top scorer last season and didnt start to often. Can see him getting more time on the park and getting into double figures easily, as you could see his ability and strength when he came on. Barrowman, well we obviously didnt see much of what Brewster thought he would give the team. Personally I think he isnt great at play outside the box, but given a bit of confidence, and the ball played into the box a bit more often, I think he could suprise a few folk. Hope so.

  9. Well with Richie Foran signed, and Odihambo also in place, I think we can go all the way back to SPhell. At the moment with all the teams taking shape, think it will be just betwwen us and dundee at the end. Livi will struggle if they even start the season. Cant see county, ayr, raith, morton pushing us to far, QOTS will maybe be top 5 or 4. Plastic whistle and Dumpfermline will try and keep in touch but doubt they will have the staying power this year. So ICT AND dundee. I actually think it will largely be down to hits the ground running in the first 10-15 games. Everyone knows that Caley Thistle might have a wee bit of a relegation hangover, and Dundee are unlikely to gel quickly. So heres to Terry's motivational skills to get our noses in front of the money grabbers. Any ideas as to how we can motivate the boys before a ball is kicked

  10. I told you all this yesterday. Charlie Christie said he had signed on Friday night. He said so at the youth meeting on Sunday. BRILLIANT NEWS. out that in yer pipe and smoke it dundee fc, most important signing of season

  11. Was also at the Falkirk cup game when it went ahead at the 27th attempt, got the belt from Baillie next day as was seen on the telly at the game! Also team I most hate in the world is probably Livi, formerly Meadowbank, formerly Ferranti Thistle. Cause they got one more vote to get admitted into the league when Thistle were a team and a half. Unbeaten in whole league season until last half hour of last game, mind you the league had been won ages before we lost. Remember Jimmy Calder as a striker too. Roshie, Milroy, Tichy, Lofty, Guyan, Wad, etc

  12. Early early days lived in Birnie Terrace, but was too young to go on me own. Dad wasnt and still isnt inta footie. Moved house in 74 and at tender age of 9 was allowed to go to games. Kingsmills it was, and a Jaggie I still am, However that hasnt stopped me taking the amalgamation onboard, as without it we would probably still be going to Buckie and Lossie, and now Grantown, Formartine and Turriff. Saying all that hated both the old firm, but as a result of our cup game at Parkheid, have hated them more. Still remember the weegie knuckle draggers getting their wee kids to go in amongst us huddled together under order to pish on us, to the shouts of "touch him an yer deed!" Never forget the way they treated us. Was in the pile up at the Jags Killie game that flattened the linesman when the barrier collapsed when the Killie boys were getting restless. Remember our cup finals where Forres was wrecked in the Jags Elgin game, and the year before or after it was Elgins borough briggs riots when the fighting started every time we scored - beat Buckie 5-0 that day. But for all that have been every home game for last 7-8 years, and was at most games beforwe that. Grew up Thistle, Liverpool and Barca, still am aswell

  13. Mssrs Butcher and Malpas pulled in Kerr and Foran in a few days at the end of the transfer window in January. Does anyone know of some of the old Muverwell players that were there under Tels time that are not doing to great elsewhere now. Reason I say this is because some players respond better to the Butcher type motivational skills. Any one remember some of the other players that have moved on from the Mothers, ???

  14. Sore point for me is the fact that we have to make such sweeping cost cutting, as our fan base after 5 spl years is still a core of less than 3000, in a catchment area of 100k +. Pavels was on loan, and under contract back home until November I think, so would require signing fee. His club are probably thinking as he is now n international they will sell him to some club for 100,000 euros. Sutherland, Gathuessi, Byrne didnt get a chance, and as budgets dictate that is the end of. Woods did get a few appearances, and I thiught he was our best up front on his own striker. But spoke to him last week and he thought he was going anyway, whether spl or not. Vigur does suprise me, but if they dont see eye to eye then pastures new is best, but hopefully not against us. 11 players under contract, 7 offered, means likely room for 2 or 3 more if all offered take the faith. Would think we could walk the 1st div if Morais, Foran, Kerr and Odhiambo sign. Dont mind McBain and Proc, but LD-Z needs to stop ***** footing around with the ball at his feet. Even the gulls hold their breath when he gets the ball with a "man on". One important thing to remember was also Butcher only had a few days of the transfer window left when he came in, and each of his 3 guys did very well. Now he has the whole summer to get a few more, I hope they make as much of an impression on the team. Are there any other ex- Motherwell players struggling at their club that would come back play for TB and MM?

  15. Nobody blamed Sir Fred or Gordon Brown yet. I blame Gordon Strachan for picking McGeady against us, Billy goat Dodds and Chic who convinced the rest of Scotland we were satin in disguise

  16. I have said this for ages, especially this year. Have rang Radio Scotland after at least 6 home games about the terrible standard of refs. Sometimes they have been plain awful, but thats for both sides, However there has been many occassions where it has been so blatant that they arent giving us decisions. How many times when you watch a live game do you get loud ironic cheers when the ref finally gets one right. Well seems to happen at the TCS every second game. This also comes onto our discipline, how frustrated do you get when someone you work with keeps doing it wrong, again and again. Sometimes you do lose it a bit, even if it is just for seconds. We seem to get more bookings in the league than any other team committing the same amout of fouls, why is that, as we aint a particularly dirty team. Are we just not experienced enough ( as they describe an obvious dive to win a free kick or penalty, like Saturday ) ANY CONECTION WITH POOR REFS DO YOU THINK? However the point I was going to make is refs dont lose you games, but sometimes they certainly do not help. Think it was Bullen who blatantly pushed Foran in the box, but ref WAS not able to see the push from his position, bugt the assistant linesman should. Bet it would be given to the home teams at most of the other grounds around the spl. I always think fair enuff if you lose and dont deserve anything, but to lose partly to poor ref decisions is hard to take. Sometimes in a season the decisions even them selves out, but they didnt for us this year

  17. Rooney top with 6 goals but few starts. Have asked myself many times why he didnt get many starts, or time on the green stuff, as no one else was really keeping him out of the team on scoring. When Butch and Mo arrived he dint get much time either. Imrie, Foran, Pavels, Toks, etc all weighed in with just a few each. Need someone to knock in 20 to get promoted. Maybe Barrowman could do it at this level, we will just have to wait and see. Woods might be a decent scorer in the first, 10-12 but me thinks his time will be up unfortunately

  18. Do you think it possible that we get an area for standing at games again. Please take away the seats at the ill fated singing section, add a small shelter roof and allow fans to stand, sing and create atmosphere. Dont need to be all seater, and when we win promotion back up, that would be the place to be. Stewards take note, we dont have to sit in the first division. I feel safe enough jumping up and down on my own two feet thank you
