  1. Scorguie with the left hand shoulder of Craig Phadrig at the edge of the photo?
  2. Old Caley Hotel?
  3. What do you bloody think?
  4. I was never dux. In these days the duces were from Sixth Year by which time I had my unconditional for Edinburgh so spent much of my time joyriding about the town and the area. Might have been in with a shout in Fifth Year but entirely my own fault in S6.
  5. He may well have been. Were you Amanda Anythingelse when you were at school by any chance?
  6. I believe they would also have lists of the Proxime Accesserunt Inverness Royal Academy has a superb archive which has been built up by the former Head of Geography Robert Preece over the last 20 odd years. It includes extensive records going back to the 18th century including Directors' Minutes and Rectors' Log Books as a huge photographic archive.
  7. You mean like Trigger from Only Fools And Horses or Kirk from Coronation Street?
  8. Anyone care to reconcile this.... http://www.businessforscotland.co.uk/10-facts-about-scotlands-oil-and-independence/ ....with this..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-30775577 ????
  9. Inverness Cup Final December 1995 at Grant Street. 5-2 I think it was and Daisy was most people's man of the match but that went to Iain Stewart for his hat trick.
  10. So it looks as if Caley were three years too late in celebrating their centenary!
  11. As long as you restrict your nakedness to the bathroom then we're probably all happy!
  12. The things you will do to publicise a book! If I was as technologically competent as Scotty I would post one of me in an almost identical blazer in 1970 rather than 2009.
  13. I think the person you mean was a History teacher in the early 60s but left before I arrived in 1965 although you have now got me wondering if that face maybe is slightly familiar. This Cameron is not to be confused with Sandy Cameron who arrived as Head of History in succession to Farqhuar MacIntosh in about 1963 and remained until the early 70s.
  14. What has a hazlenut in every bite? Squirrels' poo!
  15. Presumably Jags' back to back Highland League title triumphs in 1972 and 1973 cameduring a period of which, for reasons well known to several on here, you have very few recollections.
  16. Nonsense IHE! That's just one of your homoerotic fantasies! The only time anyone took your photo was full facial and profile at a certain establishment in Farraline Park in the 70s.
  17. I haven't seen the Thistle fanzine but I also have a copy of the Hub Of The Hill which I would suggest, for a small scale publication, gives an excellent insight into the first 100 years of the club's history. It was just a pity that two of Jags' greatest triumphs - the 1987 Highland League title and the 1988 Qualifying Cup - came just too late for inclusion.
  18. With regard to all this technology stuff, it would have made no difference at all to have gone to the "Kaddy" since in IHE's and my time, far less Scarlet's, none of it existed!
  19. Well that's me out! Posting pictures is well beyond my technical competence. posting pictures in a couple of easy steps ...... 1. find image on google/bing and get URL for it 2. Click the picture icon on the posting toolbar and enter URL in the popup window : 08-01-2015 9-40-17 AM.png Thanks Scotty but unfortunately I don't know what any of the following terms mean google/bing URL picture icon posting toolbar popup window
  20. What a wonderful photograph! (I take it you have obtained the permission of the named copyright holder to reproduce it?)
  21. Well that's me out! Posting pictures is well beyond my technical competence.
  22. If you knew Torquil, you would know what Scarlet means! But point taken... Bonbons, Soor Plooms, Acid Drops, Caramac, Caramello, Sherbet Dabs, Walnut Whips,....
  23. Both. He was dux of the school as a pupil in (I think) 1954 and then returned as a teacher in the late 50s/early 60s.
  24. Scarle,t are you possibly thinking about C.D. Forbes? It's Ethel Forbes in the photo and she taught Maths.
  25. One New Year, when we were 15, my pal and I first footed Torquil in Auldcastle Road in the hope of getting a drink. We were not disappointed because he fed us with Gin Latterly Torquil, who was the Royal Academy's first ever guidance teacher , hit the drink so hard that he got early retirement at the age of 48! One of my favourite old sweeties was Puff Candy which was death on teeth - as was McCowan's Cow Toffee and Penny Dainties which in the 60s were far from dainty since you had to cram them in your mouth, they were so large. Sticks of liquorice were also popular, as were Liqourice Allsorts and Aniseed Balls while Mr Christison in the shop in Dalneigh used to do a great line in frozen Milky Ways. As a young teacher I had an unfortunate experience with Black Jacks. Just before Christmas I decided for a laugh to give out various sweets to pupils who answered questions correctly. In the course of this, the class started rolling about laughing - because the boy to whom I had inadvertently given a Black Jack happened to be well known as 25% "ethnically different" from the Caucasian majority in the class. Nowadays that would have caused a huge furore. On which subject, whatever happened to Black Magic - or did these fall victim to Political Correctness as well?
