  1. Everything I've said is true though. If Ross County beat Hearts tomorrow and then us in the re-arranged derby, they will be 3 points between us. Waken up folks.

...and once they play Hearts, that'll give us a game in hand!

But I'm putting money on them losing both these games anyway.

  2. I had to read that STV article a couple of times just to be clear.  But what i'm getting from it is:

An un-named spokesman for the SFL confirmed that he was sent off in his last League Cup game.  He then confirmed that the penalty for this is suspension of the next League Cup game.  The SFL know this.  Hearts know this.  But someone didn't write it on a piece of paper so they thought feck it he can play!

exactly what i got from it too. seems someone somewhere has swept it under the carpet.

I have to agree with these comments, as there's nobody giving official comments on this on a Sunday night.

Hearts clearly thought there was a problem, or they wouldn't have asked.  Regardless of the answers given to them, they never tried too hard to find out, as the joint detective work carried out yesterday show he was ineligible.  Hearts obviously have the advantage of having Wilson to hand, and he knows this without having to search the archives.

In the rules regarding eligibility (thanks to CaleyD on Twitter):

8.2 It shall be the responsibility of each Club participating in the Competition to ensure that its players are eligible to play in any League Cup match.  If a player participates in a League Cup match, such player being ineligible to play in the Cup match as a result of his suspension by The Scottish Football Association or for any other reason, the Club for which the player participates in the League Cup match shall be liable to such penalty as the Board may decide.

It's "the responsibility of each Club" - not the SFA, SPL, SFL or the English FA.

  3. Rene, you're wrong in this case. The only instance a substitution in a penalty shoot-out is allowed is if a goalkeeper gets injured or sent off and his team hasn't used up its 3 substitutions. As we had still one open, Esson could have gone in. There was a precedence in a German Cup quarter-final (IIRC) when a keeper had been booked during the game and got involved in a hassle with another player whose attempt he had saved and both got booked, resulting in the keeper getting sent off as it was his second yellow. The reserve keeper went in and saved another penalty, seeing his team through to the next round.

In the Botswana incident Yngwie mentioned all possible substitutions had already taken place before the end of extra time.

    The laws state:

    • A goalkeeper who is injured while kicks are being taken from the penalty mark and is unable to continue as goalkeeper may be replaced
by a named substitute provided his team has not used the maximum number of substitutes permitted under the competition rules
    • With the exception of the foregoing case, only players who are on the field of play at the end of the match, which includes extra time where appropriate, are eligible to take kicks from the penalty mark

No mention of the keeper being sent off, only injured, so this wouldn't apply.

    However:

    • An eligible player may change places with the goalkeeper at any time when kicks from the penalty mark are being taken

so, presumably, anyone else on the field at the end of normal play could go in goal.
  4. ...

The bit that worries me most about the proposals is the 18 team third tier which is going to generate a shed load of travel for smaller teams....and the expense that comes with that for clubs and fans.  They'd be better inviting in another two teams and splitting that into two regional leagues of 10.

    This.

Ok, but given the choice of straight from the horse's mouth at the Highland League, or via Chinese whispers and/or lazy editing at the BBC, I know who I'm

    going to believe.

  6. Isn't it ironic!  The SPL takes a short mid winter break, but before it does the heavens open and games are called off because of a waterlogged pitch in Dingwall.  Then the break comes so folk decide to take in some Highland league foooty.  The weather is drier but colder with the result that games are called off due to frozen pitches.  Meanwhile SPL pitches are perfectly playable because of the heating but no-one is playing on them because of the break.  Cue snow for next weeked and a postponement for safety reasons.

Except all four call-offs are due to waterlogged pitches.

  7. Craig Davies our top scorer had. 300k release clause. So we had no choice but to sell, although I'm not disappointed to see him go. Would be more disappointed to lose out on Butcher, although my gut feeling is we probably will.

I've just dropped his dog back to him....that should tell you everything.

That Lorimer's really do make the most filling breakfast in Inverness?

  8. I think some fans need to get realistic. We may be in 2nd place in the league and a cup semi but we aren't a big club with strong finances. Any reasonable offer for a player will always be considered by the board and I believe that Terry & Mo will bring in a freebie that they feel is an equivilant resource.

Priority as inidcated in the media is getting palyers to sign new deals - lets refrain from Jan signings and use the cash for this, then if someone leaves the club will deal with it and we as fans need to look at the bigger picture.

As for comments about McKay being worth £1/2 Million or more - really, he only socred 3 goals last year, is doing well just now but isnt a proven scorer and IMO the club would probably sell him for around 300k, which is on a par with players like Connor Salmon etc. We dont have any £1M players yet and maybe never will unless A.Shinnie gets more caps!!!

Some fans are realistic. If you accept the best offer made at the time, any time you have anything decent, you'll always have a little bit of money, and nothing decent. You sound like the sort of fan who leaves the stadium just because we're trailing by 3 goals inside 8 minutes.

  9. ...Novelty factor. Giant killing possibility. Just like County's 20,000 to Hampden. We will not take 5500. I go with Rene on this one. May be boosted by a few Hibee's wanting to see Hearts get a thumping but thats about it.

Yes, at the moment, we'd be a bit of a scalp for them, wouldn't we?

  10. If a club offered half a million pounds for Billy macKay should the club accept it./

I think they would be hard pressed to refuse it. When you're in your hay-day that's when you make your moves....eh?

No! Since I finished work for Christmas earlier, Mr Glenfiddich has tried to stop me from working with numbers, but I would still think that we'd require more than that for Mr McKay. The way I understand it, 6th place to 2nd is about 7.5% of the SPL fund, or over £1.3M, so if he can make that difference for us, he's worth (at least) that £1.3M by the end of this season alone.

  11. Goal keeper shirts are available from the club shop, although currently not online.

I believe their is a contacts list on the main website. It may be wise to telephone the club shop directly to enquire as to sizes and price

I sent some mail, but so far I have never replied. No phoned because I would understand the person with whom I spoke

  12. Referred to rather provocatively by the Sun as a "dog's breakfast!"

Are you quoting from the menu in a North Korean restaurant there?

Maybe the cause of the North Korean walkout was the Hampden "hot dogs" not meeting their expections!

I think you're barking up the wrong flagpole there.
