Any Club Playing an ineligible Player in an Official Match and the Player concerned shall be in breach of the Rules and these Regulations. 21. If a Player Plays, whilst subject to suspension by the SFA and/or the League from participating or being named as a substitute in an Official Match, the Club and the Player concerned shall be in breach of the Rules and these Regulations.........................with the common statement throughout is that parties found guilty '... shall be liable to such penalty as the Board may decide. '

Typical SPFL - we don't have a rule as such, we'll just make it up as we go along.

  2. Anyone care to speculate on who these two mystery prospects might be? Given the carefully crafted statement from the Board I'm thinking they must be pretty confident of tying them up.

I'd love one of them to be El Bakhtaoui but I'd be amazed if he doesn't get a better offer than we can make. surely it won't be another couple of midfielders?

Queen Margaret Drive--isn't that the address of the BBC ...when I was a youngster I mean, listening to Children's hour and Dick Barton, Special Agent?

C'mon Bughtie and IBM - you surely remember these programmes?  With Kathleen Garscadden as the always present co--ordinator on the Children's hour. :notworthy:

Quite right Scarlet but probably not as far back as you being a youngster! BBC Scotland HQ was opposite Botanic Gardens at end of QMD until they moved to Pacific Quay about 10 years ago.

Fair point, DD, but again you question the merits of voicing this in public. If I were DR, I'd sign my pre-contract with County immediately: The undertone is "we'll only sign him if our other targets turn us down and we have to scrape the bottom of the barrel". Well, thank you very much indeed - I'm glad you value my services so much!

Spot on - to say this publicly shows a really poor grasp of man management. Even if by some miracle DR does stay how much respect will he have for a manager who effectively said he's not good enough to stay? The momentum and feel-good factor generated last season has been totally undone. Partly this has been beyond the Club's control with injuries and key players going on to bigger and better things. However the Board seems to have gone AWOL and JH has got carried away with his own hype and is increasingly making baffling tactical decisions and clumsy statements. Someone at the Club needs to be man enough to tell Yogi to take the blinkers off.

  5. The SFA tried to decide who plays when by drawing plastic eggs out of a fishbowl. Two of them contained small plastic toys and another turned out to be a real one which cracked open as it was taken out of the bowl resulting in a bit of egg on Stewart Regan's face. In the confusion the fourth egg was dropped and rolled under the sofa. An emergency egg retrieval committee meeting has been scheduled for 7th March to decide on a suitable strategy for getting it back in the bowl. When they realised that this is the day after the quarter final weekend an emergency 'meeting rescheduling meeting' was scheduled for 4th of March to investigate whether the egg retrieval meeting can be rescheduled. If not the results of the quarter-finals will be decided impartially and those clubs with the biggest fan base will progress to the semi-finals.

Then they'll only need two eggs which surely even they couldn't feck up.....

Why do folk assume the ICT statement 'puts this to bed'? A case of believing what you want to read? Is the dialogue from Pittodrie less worthy?

The ICT statement is using 'woolly language' to deflect this - its intention being to close the matter. But, why should ICT's 'reaction' be more believable than that being stated from Aberdeen?
Derek McIness has been quoted as saying, "We wanted Greg and Greg was keen to come here but that's between the player and Inverness. I spoke to John Hughes this morning and we have acted professionally, honestly and with integrity throughout this and he agrees with that. So there's absolutely no problem from John's point of view."

    Why aren't folk believing that?

Although it was blowing a gale that day,  I'm fairly sure the managers weren't in-touch to discuss the weather!

If Tansey had indicated at the first instance that he was 'happy' to stay at Inverness, this wouldn't have dragged-on until Monday night, nor required the clubs' managers to get-in-touch.

Tansey is 27 now, and football is a short career - if he wasn't attracted by doubling or trebling his wages, I'd be very surprised - crikey, he's turned us down with a contract offer before - he's got 'form' here! At this stage of his career, of course he's going to go for it!

    Anyway:
Fictional Scenario: Tam Gregsie is a shelf-stacker with Tesco at Inshes.

He’s good at his job, and ambitious; To the extent that he has moved jobs before, but is now back for a second spell in Tesco - having split his spells with a stint at Sainsbury, whom he joined after rejecting a contract extension with Tesco a few years ago. Not that it matters - the shoppers are fickle and just love whoever works there without ever casting a critical eye!

In the modern competitive world of grocery retail, such workers are now considered to be past-their-sell-by-date (no pun intended) by their mid-thirties...so when ASDA came calling on a head-hunting mission, 27-year-old Gregsie was naturally interested - he'd be at least doubling his wages in a job in the exact same role.
ASDA wanted him to start immediately; and Tesco were all but resigned to losing one of their leading workers - so-much-so that they immediately took on two new employees in the role that Tam would be vacating. Coincidentally, on the same day, SDA sent out two employees on work experience!

However, a clause in Tam's contract stipulated that hw must work two-weeks notice....
This ‘hurdle’ proved problematic and the proposed job-transfer collapsed.

However, ASDA may still be interested in revisiting the Tam Gregsie option when the retail stores conduct their annual summer recruitment campaigns.

Meanwhile, Tesco’s store boss took Tam into the office and explained the situation before asking him what he was going to do now - would he quit Tesco and go on the dole?
No, of course not - Tam needs an income - and without having any other option, Tam stated he will, for now, be continuing to work for Tesco - and with a shrug of the shoulders stated, “yeah, boss, I’m happy to remain here (for now)”

Incidentally, Tam has since sacked his Union Rep.

    The ICT statement (but parodied):

Tesco are pleased to announce that shelf-stacker, Tam Gregsie will be available for Saturday’s stock take and beyond.

ASDA made their official approach to us on Saturday evening in relation to obtaining references regarding a job offer for Tam Gregsie. This was followed by a period of activity, culminating in their final request on Monday afternoon.

This was an unwelcome and late approach for a very popular and influential worker within our store.

However, after meeting with Tam following the final approach, we are delighted to be assured by him that he is “happy” in Tesco and that he has elected to remain at Inshes Retail Park - and we thank Tam for his integrity, honesty and loyalty to the store.

The club then informed ASDA that their final request had not been successful.

In the period after ASDA making official contact with us, we were of course determined to act in the best interest of Tam and our store and we are confident that the outcome will be warmly received by our shoppers.

    Conclusion:
The ICT wording is constructed to assume 'all is well' -  wording is key (agree with DD on this) -
For example, Camelot could present you with a large cheque for getting 5 numders in the National Lottery - then, interview you afterwards.
You could say, “yes I’m happy with getting 5 numbers in the lottery - but obviously I’d rather have got 6!” - This could easily be reported by Camelot as stating “Mr X didn’t hit the jackpot, but he’s just told us that he’s happy getting 5 numbers”
Which is totally true! But ignores the fact that he’d rather have had 6.
In this context, I’ve no doubt Greg Tansey IS happy at Inverness, but that doesn’t mean he’d not rather be at Aberdeen!

Did Asda send Willie Good-David for work experience to Aldi?

  8. How does this extra year option on his contract work? Do both parties agree to an extension or can the club trigger the clause which would then increase his worth?

According to the BBC the club has the option to extend his contract by a year. If that is correct then as you suggest his value should be higher.

  9. Just confirming that we have now donated £1,000 to FARA – a charity which helps some of Romania’s most vulnerable and neglected children. FARA (which is Romanian for ‘without’) provides homes, therapy and education for orphaned and abandoned children in Bucharest and other parts of Romania.

£640 was left over after paying for the coaches, £50 was donated anonymously by one of the 'time of first goal' winners and Kenny Cameron added another £310 on behalf of the club to make it up to £1,000.

Thanks to all who contributed and hopefully we'll be welcomed back to Romania next year!

For further information on FARA you can visit their website at http://www.faracharity.org

Perhaps Mr Bannerman or one of the other journalists on here can highlight this story of our fans' great gesture in Romania and indeed our club with the top-up cash. This would be very nice and positive PR in the press.

I've sent a press release of sorts to the club so hopefully they will pass it on to the press.

  11. The most concerning thing for me is that I don't think I've seen any quotes from Yogi recently saying that he actually needs a striker - he just talks about needing to be more "cutting" in the final third.

His quote about Mutombo "He can play in all positions across the front, either on the wing, behind the first striker or as that first striker". He's presumably not been played as a striker much - if he has then his goal record is woeful and in any case 4 goals in his last 80 games is not exactly encouraging for an attacking midfielder. Maybe Hughes sees him as more of a striker than his previous managers but if this is the case (based on watching him just 2 or 3 times then it seems a pretty desperate gamble.

Lopez has had a reasonable strike rate in his career but for the last 5 years has only played 20 games a season. For him to make a significant contribution he'll need to play more than he's played for years and play a lot better than he has in the last 3 games.

I can only hope that Yogi's just playing his cards close to his chest and is quietly working on finding a striker. Yesterday's injuries won't help in the search for a striker as he'll now also have to concentrate on shoring up the defence.

It is also a worry that, with the limited options currently available to him, Yogi seems intent on playing so many players out of position. I know that it's easy to be critical from the sidelines but the last time I felt so strongly that a manager had things wrong when Levein stuck resolutely with his 4-6-0 in Prague despite the fact that Scotland were every bit as good as the Czechs. I know his job can't be easy but sometimes a manager needs to look up as well and take note of what everyone around him is saying.

  12. Hi all

I was responsible for running the draw on bus 7, the winner of the draw, name of Chris, wanted the winnings donated to a Romanian charity.  so that should be a bit more cash for whatever charity you identify.

Well done and thanks again to DBJ and the others for organising the buses and looking forward to the next European trip

That's great - thanks Chris wherever you are.....

  13. I still have prize money waiting for 5 winners of the ‘Time of First Goal competitions’ from the bus convoy. I know two of their names are Shona MacGillivray and James Vallano and the other 3 should have winning slips with the 0-0 result printed on them.

Can anyone that knows Shona, James or any of the other 3 who did not get their prize money in Romania please get in touch with me so I can get their money to them.

We managed to reduce the cost of the coaches so we have £640 left over which, after discussion with CJT, we have decided to donate to a Romanian charity on behalf of ICT fans. We are currently trying to establish which is the best charity to give the money to but it will be one that helps homeless children or orphans - I will let you know the name of the charity as soon as we decide and will make sure that ICT fans get some recognition for the donation.

Finally – thanks to everyone who made the trip and contributed to a fantastic few days in Romania. Hopefully we can do it all again next year – maybe someone else will be stupid enough to book the first minibus next time……

  14. We've sold 3353 tickets so far for the home leg. I counted the dots because I have no life.

    3704 now.

    3919.

    4153.

I've not counted every dot but with 3 sections of south stand now available and virtually sold out already I think we are over 5,300.

4504 by my count. The front halves of those sections haven't been opened yet.

Can you tell that the front half not available from seating plan or just privileged info?

  15. Can someone tell me please, have the club or CJT organised anything for the away game?

i dunno if im being a total idiot or not but i just havent seen it adverised.

CJT were understandably waiting for confirmation from the club about any spare plane capacity and ticket allocation. With still no word from the club on this (as far as I'm aware) most people have already sorted their flights and we've organised coaches from Bucharest to Giurgiu so I wouldn't hold your breath. The rumour I've heard is that the team are travelling out and back in about 24 hours - presumably coming straight home after the match. If this turns out to be true it seems a bit short-sighted. The big cost is getting out there - staying an extra night and giving the players a proper chance to train and relax wouldn't have cost much more and would surely maximise the chances of winning.

  16. That's us over 170 on the list now so only another 20 or so and we're onto coach number 5 which I think is a great effort!
No problem making it 6 coaches if we need it.....

As Scotty has said on the event page the online payment facility will be set up in the next couple of days - £10 per head return including online transaction fee. Needs to be paid before we go as I don't want to be wandering round Bucharest with loads of cash in my pocket!

  17. Major League Soccer is doing it this year with small jpg images forming the numbers on the back of the shirts of each of the teams and you got your spot when you renewed your season ticket on a first come first served basis. the shirts have not made an appearance yet but its slated for some fan appreciation weekend later in the season.

this was the ICT one from 2007-08

Definitely wasn't this one I saw before. The writing was much more subtle than that.
