  1. Even if the SPL Club chairman vote against a NewCo you can bet your last penny the SPL will find a way to change the rules to allow them in.

The SPL chairmen are the SPL though.

It's got to be a no to a NewCo being admitted straight back into the SPL. Echoing what most folk have said on here, it is morally the right thing to do. I'm not sure why the businessmen who run the SPL clubs have a business model that relies on any one team being in existence anyway! This vote should be a no brainer.

I'll never forget how hard the SPL clubs made us fight to get into the SPL initially, even though we had earned the right on merit. Same for Falkirk before us except they were treated even more poorly. We had to pay Aberdeen £35k (an absolute fortune for a small club) per game to play at Pittodrie and fans had to make a 6 hour round trip every fortnight for 6 months to just to watch a "home" match. They made us jump through those hoops because they didn't want us, because we're "too far away" and we supposedly wouldn't make the SPL enough money. The "Self Preservation League" some called it.

Voting yes to allowing NewCo Rangers into the SPL might seem like self preservation to some chairmen but I believe it will have the opposite effect. Some fans will stay away and we'll be the laughing stock of the footballing world, as if things weren't bad enough already. FFS we invented the game!!

I hope the chairman does the right thing and votes no.

  2. Its bonkers bringing any traffic along Dores Road as I think it will actually encourage traffic along Dores Road from the town as well. Dores Road has services underneath it too, so you can imagine the hold-ups if they have to dig the road up any point.

The point of the bypass is to reduce the traffic burden but if they're proposing another swing bridge that too will just cause hold-ups when boats are passing through. Emergency vehicles could be held up as they are at the moment when the swing bridges open. I mind seeing Ronnie the bridge keeper at Tomnahurich Bridge being unable to get the bridge closed for a fire engine on a shout, due to a malfunction with the bridge. Absolute nightmare.

I created a Twitter account for the protest group. Search for West Link Protest on Twitter if you wan't to follow it.

    Cheers,

    Fraser

  3. Highland Council are currently proposing building the distributor road extension through Whin Park and the canal pitches. West Link Protest Group has set up a website, Facebook Group and online petition in order for people to find out how to make representations to the council if they disagree with this planned approach.

Whin Park is a fantastic public space for young families and one of the things that makes Inverness a great place to live. We think its really short-sighted of the council to propose this and if you do too, please lend your support by visiting the website and emailing the template letter to the Council and also signing the online petition linked above.

The closing date for representations is tomorrow so please act quickly! If we don't speak up then it will ruin these public amenities.

    Many thanks,

    Fraser

  4. I don't mind if they get to the latter stages of the competition. I just don't want them to win the thing because we'll be hearing about it for the next 44 years!

They even mentioned "England's 1966 glory" in the ice hockey final of the Olympics between THE USA and CANADA. Different sport and England weren't even involved.

    WE. HATE. JIMMY HIIIILLLLL. HE'S A P**F. HE'S A P**F.

  5. just wondered what peoples thaughts are of trying to get our own song made. if anyone is up for writing one or help with one then i might be able to get one recorded. i am pretty sure i could get the silencers to do a caley thistle version of i can feel it which was the sportscene theme tune. if you go to youtube and type the silencers - i can feel it, you will here the song. i think it would be a class tune to put our own words to it. i will leave it open for everyone to discuss and if its something that appeals to people and they want to do a caley thistle version then i will try and get it recorded for us when we have a finished product.

Are the Silencers not in the main stand every other week? lol

  6. Don't speak too soon this season, like last, could still end in final day heartbreak.

Bring it on I say. At the start of this season I predicted we'd be in the 1st division for a few years but now we have a really good chance to get back up so I'll take the risk of final day heartbreak. What a buzz the day we got promoted to the SPL. In with a shout now. GET IN!!!!!!!

  7. Last season....I suffered the upsed of watching BOTH Newcastle Utd and Inverness CT getting relegated. One season on...and both teams are both sitting top of their leagues and possibly going back up. NOW.....If Inverness CT pull it off, they will be the first team to get relegated from SPL and return the following season. So fingers crossed. Am not so sure its a rarity down south tho...but...C'mon the Toon! PLEASE....let this be a happy ending.

Do you mean the SPL in the format we know it today or the top league ever? I think Hibs came straight back up when they were relegated, maybe even St Mirren at some point too?

  8. Simple way to police the offside rule would be to scrap it altogether. What purpose does it serve? It only annoys the hell out of the fans.

Many moons ago, when buffalo roamed free, Hearts and Killie played a trial match where there was no offsides. Hearts won something like 7-1, but the plans were scrapped to introduce it.

If there was no offside rule you'd have your Kris Boyds and Michael Owens never leaving the opposition's 6 yard box!

  9. As I mentioned in the Macedonia thread. I would have the same back 5 that played 75 minutes on Saturday. I would bring Caldwell in as a holding midfielder and have Brown, Maloney and Darren Fletcher in front of him with Miller and Steven Fletcher up front as there is a chance to change the formation about, moving S. Fletcher to left midfield to go 4-1-4-1 if required.

A couple of people have suggested they would have Caldwell as a holding midfielder.... Why would you bring in a defender to do that when you've got Hartley who plays that position naturally?

  10. I might as well as on here if anybody knows what the parking is like at Firhill?

It'll be busy but you should find something ok. Last time I took the car to Firhill a wee kid asked me if he could watch my motor. I gave him a couple of quid and I suggest that if you get asked, you do too, or else your motor will be missing bits after the game.
