  1. If he hadn't played in those games at the end of the season I firmly believe that we would NOT be playing in the first division next season.

If Esson hadn't let in four against the mighty Falkirk we wouldn't have gone down...

What about Fraser shipping 5 at Ibrox?...

All I'm saying is you can't single out individual player failures for us being relegated. Brewster's tenure is more to blame. He took a stable team and de-stabilised it. It was our stability and team spirit that made up for areas with less skill than the bigger teams. That's why we got relegated.

Anyway, I digress. Good luck to Mikey (another one who left due to Brewster's de-stabilising of the team).

  2. The only thing funnier than England being terrible and getting knocked out of a tournament is England having a great team and still getting knocked out.

Agreed. I'll never forget the time in the Euro 2004 match where England were 1 up on France until injury time when Zidane scored with that free kick and then a penalty to make it 2 - 1. B)

    Clicky

  3. Good to hear positive commitment like that. However, it's easier said than done.

Most of the clubs relegated in previous seasons have said the same thing and have been amongst the favourites to come straight back up. Here's how they fared.

    St Mirren - 8th

    St Johnstone - 3rd

    Partick - relegated again!

    Dundee - 7th

    Livi - 6th

    Dunfermline - 5th

    Gretna - bust

So statistically we are more likely to end up in the bottom half of the league than the top, and going straight back up seems unachievable for whatever reason. Why can relegated teams not get to grips with the First Division?

I believe Hibs and Dundee United were both able to come straight back up after they were relegated. I don't know enough about those clubs of the time, any of the older folk on here know what was different about those club's set up that they were able to come straight back up?

They are much bigger clubs than us but maybe we have more in common with those teams that made it straight back up than we think.

  4. Actually, I am fairly intellegent. But maybe the fact im only coming up 16 is an indication at why i am an easy target?

I've no idea how old you are. The following contributed to my opinion of you:

    1. Your comments about chucking stuff were daft.
    2. I challenged you to a fight on Dornoch beach... A fight involving a tennis racquet, batteries, drumsticks and a piano, yet you still thought I was being serious.

Seriously though, well done for starting this thread, everyone appreciates your sentiments. And well done for singing and trying to create a good atmosphere. The club needs fans like you, albeit without chucking stuff.

  5. Right, i made this thread to praise the fans that sung today and you are coming on being a *****.

    Hahaha

Anyone reading your last post just needs to check your comments about chucking stuff and then they can make their own minds up about who the ***** is.

  6. If i was that pished i wouldnt be able to type correct spelling on this. And what the ****? I think your the one thats pished pal. Looking for a fight over the computer? Get a grip.

I'm taking the p1ss out of you cos you're an easy target.

You know you shouldn't be chucking stuff at games yet you're on here boasting about it. You're not the sharpest pencil in the pencil case are you? If some copper read this and looked back at the match CCTV footage, you're mate would be fecked for chucking that drumstick, and it would be YOU that dropped him in it. He was lucky to get away with it considering that steward actually SAW him at the time.

Like I said, have a word with yourself.

  7. Who the **** are you? The Pope?(im a cathoilc) You dont need to preach to us. We have heard it all before

I'm assuming you're p1shed in front of your computer and therefore unable to come and say that to my face you wee sh1t.

that and he lives in Dornoch and you, as stated, lives in Glasgow.

I'm actually staying at my folks in sneck tonight. I can make it to Dornoch beach tomorrow afternoon. I'll bring a tennis racquet to fend off the batteries/drumsticks/pianos he chucks at me.

  8. Who the **** are you? The Pope?(im a cathoilc) You dont need to preach to us. We have heard it all before

I'm assuming you're p1shed in front of your computer and therefore unable to come and say that to my face you wee sh1t.

  9. I could be classed by some as a "part-time" fan if all you take into account is appearances at home games, because I live in Glasgow. But I guarantee it cost me a lot more to come to the game today than it did any of you local boys. ?20 for a ticket and ?40 in petrol. I go to more away games than home games.

I'm glad I asked for a noisy seat because I was right next to one of the drums and I joined in with the singing and it was great craic.

By the way, we need several singing sections, not just one. The sing-off with section E got the noise moving across the stand.

As for chucking stuff, WTF are you boys on? Have a word with yourselves. "Most I've done is chuck a battery a steward". You can split somebody's head open doin that sh1t.

The thing that sets us apart from fans of other clubs is that we don't have a sh1tebag element. But if you start chucking stuff at folk, you become the sh1tebag element so cut it out.

  10. Foran could've put his foot through that one Mallo saved instead of side-footing it.

We would've scored more points if Butcher had come in earlier.

Imrie should've squared it to Foran in the dying seconds instead of going for glory.

But as the song goes, could've, would've, should've are the last words of a fool, so we've got to pick ourselves up and get SPL football back in the Highlands this time next year.

Its not today's match that relegated us, it was the whole season, so get off Rossco's back.

  11. 40% Brewster for signing players like Barrowman.

60% the board for not sacking him earlier.

Barrowman was ineffective because he was played by Brewster up front on his own. When at County he scored loads with 2 up front. Its Brewster's fault for not playing to Barrowman's strengths, so I don't think its fair to just say that Barrowman is no use.

Also, the last person we should be blaming for us being relegated is Ross Tokley. It started going wrong when we took back that turncoat Brewster... It became increasingly obvious to many of us fans who are not privvy to what's really happening in the dressing room that Brewster had lost it several weeks before the club finally got the bottle to let him go.

The other absolute scunner is that we have been relegated with 37 points. I think that is the highest points total for a relegated SPL team in the history of the SPL.

Negativity aside, this is the situation in which we find ourselves, and if anyone can get us back up in one year it is Terry Butcher. I for one will be right behind him, Maurice and the squad.

    O2B!

  12. The night of the motherwell game last wednesday, the whole show was about scott macdonalds tackle on lee wilkie - the WHOLE show!

One whole show on a topic is nothing for Ewan... As I live in the central belt I listen to it every night on the way home from work. They have dedicated weeks, never mind single shows to why Kris Boyd doesn't get a start every week. For 2 weeks that's ALL they talked about!

Ewan is on the wind up in every show... He has to be to get folk to phone in.

Roughie is a legend. He is the funniest out of all the ex-footballers in the media IMO. I've nearly crashed the motor laughing at his patter.

Real Radio the better of the phone-ins as the Radio Clyde one is cach. That Hugh Keevins really does hate us, he said he wanted us down so he wouldn't have to come up the A9. Great football reason, eh? Vent your anger at him, he's a jobby.

ps. Ewan is a Jambo and he hates the OF.

  13. Hang on a second....

Setanta - Maybe this is a daft thought but are they actually big enough to compete with the likes of Sky to win TV coverage of the English Premier League? I doubt it. If they can't get TV rights to the EPL then what football are they going to show? SPL anyone? Sure, it will be less money but can we really not survive without the same amount?

There is a lively debate on this in the comments under Chic Young's blog:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chickyoung/2009...ould_be_ru.html

Plenty of English fans displaying their lack of knowledge about the actual size of the Ugly Sisters and the Scottish game in general.

Chic's blog is all doom and gloom but I agree with Scotty in that it could be an excellent thing for Scottish Football. We could have a 16 team league minus the Old Squirm. With the first division table as it stands today, that would mean the inclusion of St Johnstone, Partick, Morton, Dundee, Livingston and Dunfermline. Partick might start pulling in more of the less fanatical Old Firm fans who can't afford to make the away trips for EPL matches.

There would be a return of the Renfrewshire and Dundee derbies to league competition, and even the Highland derby if County get their act together. All these teams would have something to play for and the interest in Scottish football would be kept alive by people who actually matter... us.

I personally don't give a tiny rat's @ss what the rest of the world thinks about our league. All I care about is that it is competitive and has the values of the fans instilled within it.

  14. Did anybody see just before Hamilton got their free kick for a dive at the other end Imrie was completley taken out after he had released the ball and the ref going to blow for the foul then seeing Hamilton were actually atacking and just let play on then they get the foul and score.

Yep, the ref was going to blow for a foul on Imrie but he couldn't get the whistle in his mouth. Then he awarded them a free kick instead of pulling the game back and giving us the free kick we should've had.

Professional football should refereed by professional refs. That guy's performance was atrocious.

As for Accies, for a team of big guys they were a bunch of fairies, falling and diving all over the place. The must have been told to do that by that midget Davies. Guy behind me shouted that they'd need a fleet of ambulances to get home. F*ds.

  15. I agree that we pay their wages , the point I'm trying to make is that they are not good enough to play any better. Doesn't matter how much we pay them they are simply second and third rate.

    :rotflmao:

I disagree Kilda. The league table does not lie at this stage in the season. Falkirk are below us in the table but they tore us a new hole today. The radio commentators said ICT didn't look interested until the 2nd half... Not looking interested is not having no ability. We can play a lot better than that. It is completely unacceptable to show any hint of complacency while we're in a relegation battle.

I won't even mention the difference between a ten and forty year working life.

Footballers may only have a 10 or so year career, but that's playing football. After they're finished with football they get another job, its not like they sit out of work for the rest of their lives. After a career in football I imagine our players will have a right good chunk paid off their mortgages, if not completely paid off. What I would give to have that by the time I'm 40, after playing professional football throughout the best years of my life and getting all the high quality skirt I can handle.

That dross served up today was an absolute f****** travesty. Not interested were they? WHAT THE F***???
