  1. That's because during the initial consultation on the Fans Charter (which some ICT fans participated in) it wasn't one of the top reasons.

I don't think any of the ICT Fans at that initial meeting ranked it very high on the list of priorities for a good matchday....in fact it seemed to come as a bit of an afterthought!!!

Was just joking, its good to see these type of surveys, I hope everyone participates after all we are all quick enough to moan.

  2. I totally believe that is what people are telling you, and it's probably what they believe themselves. It surprised me also, but when you start to drill down into the reasons then the on the park aspect quite quickly turns out to be far from the deciding factor.

Once you start to think about it, then it starts to make a bit of sense. After all, how many of us starting following ICT because of their silky smooth world class football and habit of winning everything the competed for? Ok, so that's taking it to the extreme, but for most "the calling" is so much more than what happens on the pitch. ICT is about more than 90 minutes on a Saturday (TV permitting!!!) it's the chat we take part in about them all week on here, it's the banter with mates in the pub, it's the banter and craic with the opposition fans, it's about letting loose at the game with a bit of chanting and a sing song, it's about spending time with family and friends and having that common interest.

I'm not saying what happens on the park has nothing to do with it....but most of us have followed ICT up through the leagues, so playing in the top flight was never the initial draw, it's certainly not winning cups and we could probably all list a few losses among our "best days out".

Test they theory...next time someone tells you they're not coming to the football any more because the performances on the pitch are crap, take the time to question/talk to them a bit more about it and see if some/all of the above is not a bigger factor.

The good news is that it's easier, if people are willing, to put these things right than it is for us to have any influence whatsoever on the pitch...in fact, the only way for us to influence what happens on the pitch is to improve what happens off of it, get more people along supporting the team and give the club more money to invest in the playing side of things.

Complete the Fans Charter Survey I just posted information about and see what comes out the other side when the results are compiled....you'll probably be far more surprised than what you are now.

Thanks for the reply Caley D some very valid points.

I looked at the Fans Charter Survey but its got no option to say poor standards of football are a reason to reduce the matchday enjoyment

  3. All the studies I've seen and discussions I have taken part in show that what happens on the pitch comes way down the list of factors which effect a persons decision to attend a football match. Results/Style of play tend to be just an easy excuse for those who find the overall football** experience far less enjoyable.

What clubs need to do is to drill down into things a bit more to get to the bottom of it as it will be slightly different for different clubs. What we as fans can do to help with that is to take a look at our own interactions with out clubs and be more specific about what "turns us off"...and communicate that via constructive criticism and offer up ideas as to what could be done to improve it. That way clubs don't have to try and be mind-readers and it forces them to think about investing in changes off the pitch as well as on it.

I am really suprised about that, all the people I have spoken to that have been "turned off" ICT last season all say it was down to the rotten football on offer.

  4. After the p1sh that was served up for most of last season I cannot blame people for not renewing their season tickets.

What disappoints me though is the clear implication that many fans contacted the Board and said they would only renew if we voted "no" to Rangers in the SPL, but then failed to keep their side of the bargain.

I think one of the main worries is any "bounce" in season ticket sales would surely have come when the club did as the fans requested, without any inspiring signings (I do understand why) and if anything a weaker looking squad than last season I don't expect there will be a dramatic uptake before that start of the season

  5. That's what

happens when you play boring football.

It isnt going to get better anytime soon if the club has not money from folk not buying season tickets!

I think you can play attractive football without spending a fortune on players, no question a lot of folk have been turned of by the style of football played last season

  6. We might care if they start boycotting our stadium because of the statement

Saying something and being a keyboard warrior is one thing doing something is quite another. I'll believe it when I see it.

I think/hope you are probably right

  7. I've already made my point/s on the reading of the statement throughout the thread.

People can take them or leave them as they wish and draw their own conclusions...just as I have done with yours and others.

I could sit here and play twist and spin with you all day...we both know each others capabilities in that regard and we both know it would end in stalemate (or Scotty kicking both our asses) and nothing would be gained.

If people are going to crucify the guy, then be clear on why they are doing so. Is it because of a poorly worded/constructed/timed press statement, or is it because they truly believe he is bad for the club and is trying to stitch up the fans.

I think the last paragraph is very important and while I don't think Kenny has been bad for the club up to now I do think that the statement has done untold damage to his reputation amongst his own fans and reflects very badly on the club to fans of other clubs

  8. I have looked at the statement many times and heard it on the radio and I am still of the opinion that what has done us more harm than good is the statement the Chairman has made made

  9. Please please people start realising that everyone has been quite happy kicking Rangers while they are down. So hard that their feet are now bleeding. Shortly gangrene shall set in. The legs will have to be amputated and the patient will die. The clowns that are running Scottish Football have produced the usual shambles, and not just the ICT board, the whole lot of them.

The fact is the SPL chairmen wanted to be seen to support integrity, passed the buck on to the SFL and they haven't made the decision they were told to make, again supporting sporting integrity (WTF is that?). Now people are shocked.

Oh boy there are none so blind as those that will not see.

All that has happened is the ICT board are waking up. The rest will follow and in record quick time the winners of div 3 next season shall gain automatic promotion to the new 16 team super duper league. Quell surprise.

No one has kicked rangers when they are down, Rangers went into liquidation the Newco applied for league entry and have been told to start where anyone else applying would, in fact they ar lucky they are allowed entry at all considering they have no audited accounts etc

  10. Yes but at what cost? Any cost?

I honestly believe that if integrity hadn't been upheld then fans of all clubs up and down the country would have been turned of football for good.

What irks me about the Chairmans statement is that his initial one stated that the fans wishes for integrity had to be upheld while I now believe he was secretly hoping the the SFL clubs would let the Newco into Div 1 and his statement for integrity was just to boost season ticket sales

  11. There is only so far any club can go down the 'Sporting integrity' bullshit road before the 'Sporting Finance' road block happens. its the real feckin world!

    Money rules!

Cameron may well have been led down the S.I. road by the powers of SPL SFA with the promise that Newco would be 'placed' into div 1, Now its not happened the panic starts and we will no doubt hear about re-structure - quite soon.

Our finances are not 'Solely' dependant on Rangers being in the SPL but by feck they are quite obviously a big part of it and may well affect clubs in the central belt more than us.

Its a feckin mess and we should bin SPL,SFA SFL and start again with one governing body.

If Sporting integrity is a "bullshit road" we might as well all give up on the game now. The fans in this country have proved over recent week that integrity is vitally important to them

  12. Not a great decision to come out with this statement, imo. I think most of us suspected that the SPL chairmen would be privately hoping for Sevco to be voted into Div 1, but Kenny Cameron's more or less come out and admitted it, and it makes his earlier comments about sporting integrity seem hollow. Could he not just have made a more straightforward statement about the financial challenges facing the club and appealing for as much support as possible?

Indeed, a daft thing to come out with right now. By the sound of things, Cameron used his decision to play the fans like an organ, in the hope that the SFL would do his dirty work for him. He's gone down in my estimations.

Ever get that feeling you've been used?

Have to agree that Kenny Cameron's statement is terrible and something like Aberdeens would have been more apt. Not questioning the financial impact but it was a real hash of a statement, even the division 3 clubs statements have shown more guts

  13. Sorry but am I feckin missing something here ?? Why the feck would we even be considering giving over seats to the Old Filth. Let them sell out the Away End, give them the uncovered portion of the Uncovered Stand. Then look at offering an extra cut price ticket to season ticket holders ONLY and encourage them to bring along a non-Cellic supporting friend or guest. And pack the wee West Stand area to our squad players in the under whatevers and encourage them to bring along a mate - and do not allow in anybody over a specific age in to that section via the North Stand entrance. The only way that we are going to attract extra punters is with "deals".

I am fairly sure that if it was considered by the club it would be because every penny is going to be a prisoner, the scheme that you are suggesting would not give the same income i.e selling discounted tickets instead of full priced tickets
