  1. First half was a bit like watching Barcelona!

Second half we probably needed a different attacking option to hold the ball up a bit so that we spent a little less time passing around our box

Thought Draper and Christie stood out, and the defence not really troubled for the majority of the game, a couple of close shaves I guess....but we should have put the game to bed by then

Best I've seen ICT play when I've managed to get to a match

  2. Ooooo that's a lovely result! Have a work client who's a Partick fan, so a little friendly nudge due perhaps

Interesting to see who we get in the next round, get past that and who knows??

Anyway I've got 4days in Helsinki from Monday, a day at home, and then on the plane up for the St Mirren game away (ignoring Palace v Liverpool FA Cup to boot!)

  3. Christie and Watkins up front, Doran or Ross behind, and hopefully no injuries....perhaps Foran will feature this season?

I also think Hamilton and Dundee Utd have been weakened in this window as well

Can't be anyone but Yogi for Manager of month.

Noooo...the award is a curse, give it Aberdeen or Dundee Utd :ohmy:

Getting the MoTM award for January...and then carrying on in the same manner, must be the ultimate indicator of a good manager!

A good win against a side desperate to get back to winning ways...hats off to Yogi for using plan B in the second half, it sounded a bit of a struggle in the first half.

Another golden double for me this weekend with my other side winning away from home as well

Eagle4Caley, you could be on for an FA Cup / Scottish Cup double!!

Some of the results in the FA Cup yesterday were insane! Delighted that Filip Morais played a big part in defeating Chelsea yesterday. Although he was only with us for a short time in Inverness, I always thought he looked quite useful.

Interestingly, the 3rd goal was scored by Andy Halliday - who the commentator, on the highlights, said was Scottish. As I'd not heard of him, I looked at the internet, and his wiki page suggests he started out at Ross County!

Noticed Bristol City v West Ham on BBC1 at the moment. If that was an artificial surface it would resemble a Subbuteo pitch with the 'scoring area' line!

Can't tell you how much I want that!!  COYC COYP :ictscarf:

  6. I must say I am enjoying the various insights from people...and I rather agree with Kingsmills that Yogi's next big test (aside from finishing 3rd in the league and beating Partick in the Cup) is the summer transfer window when Graham Shinnie and Billy McKay may have departed ...and when we may get bids for Watkins, Christie and Meekings (dreading the thought)

One thing that I think is being recognised is that a) Yogi has maintained ICT's stature in the upper level of the SPL, whilst b) having changed the style of football, and c) having found different sources of goals than just McKay

  7. Fourth win in a row, Watkins comes back and scores, Billy carries on his good run, seemed like a canter for us, a reasonable crowd for a winter Tuesday night, now upto 3rd...only frustration was not being able to get the radio connection on my tablet sorted in time.

  8. Fab-u-lous result given that we were missing Watkins who has been so good for us recently, and Christie not starting....but sounds like Ross had an excellent game, so kudos to Yogi for that...coming back from a goal and a man down to win away from home is a great result...Three wins on the trot after a disappointing December is a might fine response.

My other team had a great result this evening as well coming back from a goal down as well, so I am a very happy bunny tonight, looking forward to see the highlights on BBC Alba tomorrow!

  9. A back to back win, is a good way to start the New Year, even if it was hard work (which it sounds like it was) still the evenings are going to get lighter, my ICT calendar is up on the wall, and I'm counting the days to St Mirren away in Feb...

Main aim for ICT at the mo is to secure that top six spot and beat Thistle in the Cup

  10. Robbie Savage appears to be linking Ryan Christie with Burnley on the BBC website, reviewing who needs what in the EPL....although seems a strange signing if you are looking for survival, as he is still a kid

Doing my best to link Shinnie with Palace (if he's going I want him down here) perhaps Frazier Campbell in p/x if I had my way

  11. Have only seem 5mins of highlights on BBC online, and bar the defensive ****-up, we seem to have played OK and were a tad unlucky not to get something out of the game.....strange how just a few matches ago, things were going so well, but other than the Partick result we seem to have lost out on things just going against us....Aberdeen is alway a tough match, and losing an away match to an odd referee decision hardly the end of the world but I guess after the PT result it does like a wheel has come off ! Do we just put it down to a December jinx?

At least there was a decent crowd for this one, with Aberdeen bringing so many

Still at least we can enjoy Rangers floundering around in the league below us!

Meanwhile back at my other club, more than one wheel has come off, and the driver has been jettisoned! (I can barely remember a season when one manager gets through it unscathed!)

  12. Looking at the video, Christie chose the wrong option, desperate to turn back towards goal and his execution of said back pass was woeful. That said, Graham should have been booked for his part in the penalty.

Draper was slightly unfortunate, but it appears as though he tries to ride the impending challenge and his knees and arms fend of the Perth player possibly just too much on the side of aggression resulting in the sending off. Harsh, probably, justified, probably, he gave the ref a decision to make and the rest is history.

Brill made a handful of excellent saves and we were maybe a tad fortunate not to concede a penalty earlier for Drapers tackle in the box. Maybe ref was levelling up his options.

All in though, it's a poor performance and result against a poor side.

ps, our recent results against St Johnstone show that we have held the upper hand, winning the previous four games so we would not have been considered underdogs.

I agree with you on both counts, I guess a lack of awareness in Christie's part being yound and at the start of his career, from the highlights I saw, he seemed to have soooo much space if he had turned or just let the ball past.

As for Draper, i thought he was jumping out of the way of the tackle, and was instinctively trying to steady himself or brace for the impact of the player coming through him... do referees's really think that a player has that much time and thought to plan retribution coming down from an avoiding action?

I had 4 minutes of action to watch, but we didn't seem to have a shot of note in the first half, but were a tad unlucky with the Raven effort off the post

Next match is a real toughie, a point against Aberdeen would stop a couple of defeats become something more serious...annoylingly it's live on TV down here, I just wont be anywhere near one

    Happy Christmas everyone :santa:

  13. I can't wait to see the highlights...great to see Billy scoring again.

Is Marley Watkins the new Andrew Shinnie (or better), Yogi seems to have him playing in a similar role, I am glad he is doing so well, when I first saw him last year he struck me as being a very useful player

Also another goal from a CB...nice one Josh

  14. 75p to go to a game in Nigeria! Probably cheaper flying there from London than buying a few pints in Knightsbridge then attending the Chelsea game, govner!

Great stats from Alex & Renegade!

I've always been aware that the English Championship was better supported than many county's top leagues, but didn't realise it was as high as 12th in the World!

It does bug me when folk 'go on' about how Andrew Shinnie must 'regret' leaving ICT to go to Birmingham City!

I'd be gutted if Graeme went to Aberdeen or Rangers - the English Championship is far bigger than the Scottish Premiership.

Those attendance tables show the Scottish Premiership to be performing quite well - the per-head-of-population stats consistently put us 2nd.

But they're hideously distorted, but nonetheless accurate, due to Celtic and old-Rangers!

Palace are looking for a left back in January...do I drop a hint on the Palace message boards???

  15. Seen the highlights now and have to say all the goals were well taken...Billy's first an absolute beaut, really good work by Watkins.

The place looks lovely in the Autumn sunshine...the camera angle gets a great view of a flat calm but deep sea with the hills behind....makes me rather wistful, not sure when I can get up next

  17. By any measure that was a good result against the surprise form team of the SPL....Billy back scoring, and Vincent/Warren on the score sheet too....  Top, just need a favour tomorrow before the international break
