Should Hughes be SACKED?
The Board should cut their losses - pay off his contract in full - and accept they have made a bad mistake. Otherwise, we risk losing everything we've built up, and the fantastic squad we have. Players will leave, and fans will drift away. Like many others on here, I don't buy this 'we're a wee team and we're punching above our weight, and we should be happy with what we've got' baloney. We were really going places a few months ago, and playing football that everyone wanted to watch. I feel really, really sorry for Billy - he's been let down badly.

Should Hughes be SACKED?
Yes - pay him off before it's too late. Poor selection Poor tactics Poor style of football. Lost the dressing room. Talk is cheap - but the results don't lie.

Team for Midweek v Motherwell.
I've got a good feeling about this one - we're going to keep our sleeves rolled down and play like we know we can; pace and width and solid at the back - and come away with a 2-0 win, and get back on track!! And then we're going to do the same on Friday. C'mon Caley !

Inverness CT -V- St Mirren
This forum isn't supposed to be a cheerleaders convention. I'll support the players through thick and thin - but the boss has to be accountable. Otherwise we'd still have Fred the Shred in charge of RBS....

Inverness CT -V- St Mirren
Rimet, I really, really want to be positive - and it's great to see Polworth and Christie given a go - they've earned it, and they did well. But it's so frustrating when we can't beat the second bottom team at home, because players are players are played out of position, and we use a stodgy style of play and system that has no width and no pace. Don't you think the 'roll your sleeves up' mentality is negative? i'd rather tactical awareness than passion and assorted cliches any day of the week.

Useless tactics - useless referee

When oh when are we going to see 2 wingers at the same time?? We should be attacking, attacking, attacking. Oh well - let's roll our sleeves up and give it a good go to try and win the football match......

The midfield
I would like to see Doran and Watkins on the wings, for pace and creativity, with any one of Vincent, Ross, Christie in the hole supporting Billy. I agree that there should be no 'automatics' for midfield - selection should be on form and open competition for places.

Dundee Utd -V- Inverness C.T.
Thought we were better first half. Once again, Yogi has loaded the central midfield, and played others out of position. People are having a go at Vincent, but why is he playing out wide? How many times was he out wide early season, when he had a stormer every game. Players don't seem to know where they are meant to be, and confusion and frustration is evident to see. Let's get back to playing with width and pace. Well done Liam Polworth - cracking goal!

Should Hughes be SACKED?
Perhaps Hughes and Butcher could agree to swap? Hughes did better at Hibs and Butcher with us. Why not 'as you were'...

Should Hughes be SACKED?
I don't think the players have signed for the manager; they've signed because they know their colleagues have got what it takes, and can take the team upwards. The frustration is that Hughes doesn't seem to be able to play an effective system, motivate or inspire the players. I feel sorry for our wingers - there have been ridiculous decisions; not playing Doran in the final, taking him off at half-time yesterday (was he really the most ineffective player in the first-half), not playing Watkins in the Celtic game, when he had been MoM against them last time out, not starting Watkins yesterday. We've completely lost our pace on the counter-attack, in favour of a central midfield so congested it's like a suet pudding. Those two should be starting every game together, with either Vincent or Ross or even Christie behind Billy. Since when was Vincent signed as a winger? Why is Tansey immune from getting subbed? He gave the ball away more than any other player yesterday. Why are the players looking like they've just attended a funeral, when they are going out to play a 6-pointer to get within reach of top 3? I fear we may lose our wide men at the end of the season if this style of play continues - and one or two others beside; even Billy. I agree that sacking at this stage would not be right. But I don't agree that we should back the manager blindly just because the Board has gone with him. If we continue to slide in results, style of play and performance for the rest of the season, then I believe the Board has to act promptly to keep together the best squad we've ever had.

Should Hughes be SACKED?
I wanted Hartley but was prepared to give Hughes a chance - and to give him credit where due, as in the semi against Jambos. But tactically he seems to be clueless in most games. Tonight he packed the central midfield, and then took the only winger off. Motherwell won it without getting out of first gear. We've gone from having the tightest defence in the SPL to the leakiest. We've had two 5-0 slaughters, and lucky to get away with only 5-0 both times, and an approach to our first ever final that was focused on playing for penalties. His record is very poor. Don't get me wrong, I quite like the guy and respect him standing up for the players. I'm getting a bit sick of his recycled interviews, and am going to smash my telly the next time he says 'we roll our sleeves up and get on with it'. I certainly wasn't impressed with what he said on Alba tonight. He's not paid to be a nice guy but to win football matches. But will we achieve anything with him as manager? I really hope we do, but can't see it. Has he lost the dressing room? Possibly. What has happened to the confident, slick unit that our team was a few months ago, when we had a cup double and Europe in our sights? I don't want him to try and put his stamp on the team. I'd like him and Russell to study the games and tactics played under Butcher, and try and get back to playing that way.

Free Kicks
This is weakness from the manager. You decide on who takes the free-kick shots on goal, and you practice and practice from different positions until you can hit either corner. It's all about discimpline and practice....

We matched them man for man, but we were set up too defensively. I suppose the 5-0 drubbings were the thinking behind that. I don't know why Hughes doesn't stick to the system that brought Butcher so much success - but he hasn't used it once. Still, could have gone either way at the end - and we had a good spell for 25 minutes early 2nd half. Back 4 were superb - especially Meekings and Devine. Foran was clear penalty, as shown on highlights. We need to work on set pieces, and get one specialist free kick taker - practice, practice, practice! Those were real chances.

Team for Final
Solidity at the back, enforcers in central midfield, pacy wingers, and a predator up front!

Inverness CT -V- Hibernian
Not a bad night. Clean sheet and much better defensive performance, back into 4th place with a game in hand. No red cards. Suspensions discharged. Onwards and upwards....

It's Scottish Football. That's not likely. Our team will be playing in trainers. No studs will be on display...
