  1. This is weakness from the manager. You decide on who takes the free-kick shots on goal, and you practice and practice from different positions until you can hit either corner. It's all about discimpline and practice....
  2. We matched them man for man, but we were set up too defensively. I suppose the 5-0 drubbings were the thinking behind that. I don't know why Hughes doesn't stick to the system that brought Butcher so much success - but he hasn't used it once. Still, could have gone either way at the end - and we had a good spell for 25 minutes early 2nd half. Back 4 were superb - especially Meekings and Devine. Foran was clear penalty, as shown on highlights. We need to work on set pieces, and get one specialist free kick taker - practice, practice, practice! Those were real chances.
  3. Solidity at the back, enforcers in central midfield, pacy wingers, and a predator up front!
  4. Not a bad night. Clean sheet and much better defensive performance, back into 4th place with a game in hand. No red cards. Suspensions discharged. Onwards and upwards....
  5. It's Scottish Football. That's not likely. Our team will be playing in trainers. No studs will be on display...
  6. But would that have happened if we had had Richie as midfield enforcer -as almost everyone apart from the management wanted him to play? I don't think so. I think he would have helped to either slow down or snuff out most of the quick breaks; as Draper does usually. As well as the lack of a strong central midfield, we can't underestimate the ground staff's contribution to the first two goals - more like playing on a beach than a football ground.
  7. Not trying to incinerate anything - but isn't this tally a bit suspicious? Last November alone he dished out around 20 yellow and 7 reds !! Perhaps he had toothache that month...
  8. That referee should not take another game above League 2 level
  9. I think it is more likely that one day we'll find out that the team was on the pay of an Asian betting syndicate! I'm not being serious, but if ever there was an ICT game that we tried to lose, it was this one. Defender & keeper contrive to give away 2 early goals, unnecessary penalty next, then 2 players get themselves sent off. Neither of those tackles was a red - Tansey pulled out and dropped his foot, and Watkins didn't touch the player, only the ball. That clown of a referee bought the dives. I hope Hughes brings in a ballet teacher to train the players in tragic, twisting aerial dives for the final....
  10. We can't shrug this off - 10 goals in 2 games FFS !!! And we were lucky to get away with 5-0 both times. Any manager in another league would be facing the sack. Yogi's tactics have been dire these past two games - once again Richie is completely ineffective up front, and the opposition sweep through the midfield. Having said that, Yogi can't be blamed for the first two goals. And the ground staff - how can they produce a pitch like that, when they've had plenty of time to prepare a decent surface? It's all very well saying everyone pitches in, everyone gets along, we're all great guys etc. - but we've produced a surface we can't play on... And the referee! He wasn't fit to ref a park game - that second red was laughable. The Scottish FA have really got to take a look at themselves if they are producing refs of that standard for the top flight. Let's get back to the tight 451 passing football that has got us so far - with an organised defence, solid midfield, pacy wings, and Billy up front. Tamping....!!!!
  11. Good analysis Jrict - I'm sure Yogi will now be more cautious about starting with 442 away from home...
  12. Aye 4-4-2 was a tactical mistake. We shouldn't have gone to 'give it a good go' as Yogi said, we should have gone to keep it as tight as possible, knowing Celtic would come out blazing. Should have played Billy up front and dropped Richie back into the centre of the field and kept it tight to half-time at least. So important not to have shipped a shedload of goals before two cup games. Also missed Marley's defensive work. Surprising, as Yogi has been tactically astute for the past couple of games - although he couldn't have bargained for two soft goals in the first 20 minutes. Ah well, forget about it and move on!
  13. Watkins was MoM against Celtic last time, and MoM against Hearts a couple of games ago. We need his pace in attack, as well as his defensive tracking.
  14. Definitely NOT a loan shark - e.g. Wonga. Our club should not associate itself with companies that cause misery to the public. What about Harris Tweed? A world-recognised brand...
  15. What a result! Why didn't the lights go off after the third goal?
  16. Don't like these player rating thingummies. We have a club and team spirit the envy of the SPL - they all play for each other and put in a 101.5% shift. Ratings are a tabloid practice and divisive. What are you rating? the effort? the skill? the contribution? the pitch?
  17. Can anyone explain why Cowdenbeath gets around 3 times more coverage than ICT on OAM???
  18. Agreed - putting the fans first! I'd also like to put in a good word for the SPFL - but I can't think of anything at the moment.....
  19. Well done lads - job done. Credit to Stranraer fans for making the trip on a night like this...
  20. If you can't say anything nice, then F*** Off, that's my advice
  21. Must win game - could have been 4-0 at half-time. Need to think about 442 in home games, and work on finishing. Just one of those days - fair play to Hearts, they dug deep.
  22. This is a serious question. Are you allowed to start the game with 9 men voluntarily - e.g. for psychological impact - and then bring the team up to 11 later on? Or are you deemed to not be able to field a team, and you forfeit the game?
  23. Happy with the replay. Difficult to get back to business after that legendary performance. I'm surprised that Yogi didn't change it around a bit after last week and put a few of the boys on the bench. The physical and mental exhaustion from Sunday must have been huge.
