  1. I'd like to see Christie and Mackay up front, with Doran on the right and Watkins on the left. All out attack with pace and width! Lets hit them hard and fast, so they don't know whether they are coming or going. I'm going for 3-0.
  2. On the evidence of pre-season, we have traded width, pace and counter-attacking - which brought us our best results last season - for tippy-tappy football with no punch. Don't blame the players, blame the tactician who is playing them out of position.
  3. You have to feel a bit sorry for Hibs - no team, no manager, no budget - a CEO who's been in the job 5 minutes, a Chairman who's the toast of Edinburgh, and an army of angry fans..... Maybe they should merge with Hearts......
  4. No cause for gloating on here. Butcher made a massive error of judgement in going to Hibs - he should have stayed with us until the end of the season and then gone. Had he done so, his reputation would have been high, he could have rebuilt Hibs and we would have been top 3 and looking forward to Europe. Butcher, Malpas and Marsella put together the team that we are tellling other clubs to keep their hands off. The team played for Butcher in a way they never have for Yogi. Hibs weren't the only team to rapidly slide......
  5. Thought Gollum was MoM - showed a more compassionate, human side last night. Not so long ago he would have sent Draper off for that studs-up lunge that gave away the penalty.
  6. The very least that can be said is that, for whatever reason, the manager is not getting the best out of the players - or even anywhere near their best - and hasn't done for some time.
  7. Well, let's look on the bright side - you can get 300/1 on us getting tonked 6-0 on Saturday
  8. If, as a manager, you are lucky to lose a game by only 6 goals - as happened in our last match - you have to expect criticism and questions asked. To paraphrase Yogi, there is no room for 'shrinking violets' in football management. It's a results-based business and every manager knows that. All the talk, all the promises, all the cliches, don't matter a bean compared to the results column on the next day's back pages.
  9. Yeah - like your choice of Scotch; too narrow! Much better going for a more expansive Highland malt...
  10. Would be interesting to see what the Hibs board would do if they go down.
  11. I too really want Hughes to succeed - if he's learnt from Dungwall that's to his credit. But some people on here seem to resent any view that doesn't reflect unqualified support. What's a forum for? Surely any manager would expect fans to discuss his tactics and performance, give praise where due and criticism likewise. And yes Absent Friend, he was under pressure - those boos against Motherwell weren't for the players.
  12. Let's keep this in perspective. I'm prepared to give Hughes credit for selecting a team that did the business last night. Mackay said in his interview that it was Doran and Watkins, and the width and pace they gave, that helped him play his own game. But would he have played those two if Draper had been fit? And Foran as well? Was there an instruction from the Board to respond to the boos against Motherwell, and revert to a system that works for us? We shall see what happens after the break. Hughes has made it clear in the past that wingers don't feature in his preferred way of playing - so has last night's performance 'educated' him?
  13. Doran's goal was absolutely fantastic! Billly's finish was class - I reckon it was a pen anyway, came off his hand, but no matter. I thought Watkins was excellent- not only going forward but also tracking back to areas normally covered by Draper. We didn't miss the big man as I thought we might. If we keep this system, we've got a chance of catching Dundee.
  14. It woz the wingers that won it for us tonight!! and a good finish from the maestro. And a good performance from everyone else. Well done lads!
  15. Caley100 - I promise to take a chill pill if you stop taking the LSD
  16. It is quite Messi isnt it Aye ! the Nou
  17. On top of everything else, our club is now being exposed to ridicule and made a laughing stock. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26877820 How long are the Board going to stand for this? is this what they bought at the interview? Just wait for the Barca chants at our next game at Parkhead ! It really is beyond belief
  18. The only possible subject that Hughes could educate anyone about is the A-Z of crap football cliches
  19. Remember when the lights went out? if only we could turn the clock back. Happy days
  20. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2010/sep/24/john-hughes-hibernian-manager sound familiar?
  21. The 'educating' remark was crass and arrogant. Laughing after the defeat was shameful - the players bust a gut to try and get a result.
