And maybe a better manager, tactics and DoF who is finding such starlets

I agree with manager and tactics bit imho we DO NOT need a director of football, the manager has to be trusted with identifying targets etc.

I can't think of any other club where there is a director at a club, it's only Rugby that has Director positions!

  2. I have started this thread for news on who's getting offered contracts and getting released (once that gets announced which imho could be soon) and for transfer news and gossip on who we've been linked with (again once these have been started, this doesn't include players mentioned on previous posts such as the Todorov one on another thread I seen last night).

I am hoping people respect this thread and don't start turning on me or other posts as the last thing I want is for the thread to become off topic so be warned 😛 (ps please note the smiley).

If Dodds and his coaching staff are in place next season, then I don’t see us achieving Premiership status as being realistic. To keep them in place, is to repeat the previous seasons mistakes and shortsightedness. If that is all that we can afford, then cut some staff, save some money and achieve the same result. Over to you board members !!!!!!

The board members are talking about engaging with fans again and keeping them onside so with that in mind the only option they have is to listen to us and sack the management team and either get Ryan Esson in long term (which I would be OK with) or get in a competent manager that will get us out this league but the problem is, who is available that fits that criteria!?

Our team next season already looks rotten

Out of curiosity which out of contract players would you keep and who do you expect to be off or wouldn't you offer extensions too?

    For me it's this:

    Scott Allardice: Keep

    Scott Boyd: Release

    Ethan Cairns: Keep

Robbie Deas: Keep but suspect he's away sadly

    Danny Devine: Keep

    Aaron Doran: Release

    Wallace Duffy: Release

    Lewis Hyde: Keep

    Harry Hennem: Release

    Cam Mackay: Keep

Billy McKay: We have to do all we can to keep him

    Austin Samuels: Keep

Nathan Shaw: Same as I said about Billy McKay

Robbie Thompson: Keep and give him a chance in first team

Shane Sutherland: I personally would Keep him

    Tom Walsh: Release.

Have you considered a name change?  Maybe something like FlipFlop?

Also, the last published accounts show nearly £2 Million of debt.  Even if our cup run does net us £1 Million, then the manager is likely to see very little of it.

I'm not even going to answer the question I've bolded above because you are just fishing for a reaction, well I will tell you now, you ain't getting one so just pipe down!

  6. I've not been on of his biggest fans this season, especially during our wretched mid season run but even I know/understand that it would be harsh not to offer a new contract on the back of the cup success and upturn in form so let's hope we get the desired result on Friday because I truly believe that is what our recent form deserves :ictscarf:

I also trust him in the transfer market to find more gems such as Nathan Shaw, he did talk on viaplay (the interview is on our FB page fwiw) about potentially getting £1m for reaching the final and did tell the presenter that he hopes to get some of that windfall for new contract offers and/or transfers.

I'm not sure to be honest. Get's a lot of bad press but it's easier to be a dissenter these days than a happy clapper. He has had a rough ride with injuries etc and that's not an excuse, that's a fact. However it's how one deals with it that is the making of the man. Maybe he should be asked to re-apply for the job, but if there are better candidates out there who actually want the job, then it's theirs for the taking.

    My jury is still out.

As most on here probably know though I've not made my opinion known that much for a while, I'm not a fan of Billy as manager but tbh this is an excellent idea/point tm4tj 👏👏.  I would be able to get on board with Billy as manager next season if I knew that there wasn't a better alternative out there and tbh I am fairly certain that their ARE better candidates.

My observation on the management position (from the lack of an extention with only a few weeks left of the season) is that the poster above may be correct and Billy and John Robertson may indeed be off because SG isn't slow to offer contract extensions if he feels they are necessary.

I actually find it astonishing that over 70% have voted no because I was expecting it maybe to be about 60/40 in favour of the no camp, which basically proves that fans have had enough of inept performances or believe change is best for the club.

  8. With how results have gone this season I was very quick to vote NO and won't change my mind even if we manage to win the cup (not happening) or reach the play offs (that's not happening either unless the current teams in the play off positions have a rotten last few games)!!

It's been clear this season and last that he can't seem to have a season where we don't hit a shocking run of form and on both occasions he really shouldn't have survived but did!

We need to gain promotion sooner rather than later so a new manager is a must for next season otherwise attendances/season ticket sales will fall as fans won't put up with **** performances any longer!

The key message from Scot Gardiner’s appearance was that times are tough financially but there is “no danger” of us going bust. He stated that he is more concerned about performances on the pitch.

That's good if we're not in danger of going bust so hopefully that has allayed fans fears 🤔.

I wonder if the players heard the interview and put on a performance and got a result just to prove to the CEO that they are capable and to also buy Billy and co another couple of weeks though I can accept hanging onto them until the end of the season now that we are clear of relegation; in fact we really should be looking up the table and be looking to try and catch whoever loses midweeks game in hand fixture and possibly even Partick.

Am I alone in being a bit taken aback that the Board have been heavily criticised by some fans for not being communicative but now that they have they are being criticised for not being totally clear. Is any type of business likely to bear all. The plans are now out in the open and they’re to be quoted if they go awry. To me they are also saying that we are safe for another season but suggesting that it is a defining season. It has been evident for some time that there would be no management changes until the close of this season. That structure needs to be changed and that ties in individuals and financial outputs. They are also not going to release up to date financial information as it is not clear.

what we should be doing is filling the ground for the Killie game and making a menacing atmosphere. Then we have another great day out and put much needed spondoolicks into the coffers.

And are the excuses of depreciating away supports and wages to injured players acceptable ? I am resigned to getting this season over - preferably with a bit of a bang - but pressuring the Board if the expected and needed changes and improvements are not forthcoming. There a number of “true” ICT people in the mix and they also have to start making waves which I believe may have already begun.

    Watch this space !!

Regarding the point I have bolded in your quote IHE, that would be the best case scenario because it means that we have gone on an acceptable run of form which puts us clear of the bottom 2 and make a real push for the play offs which we are capable of, we showed against Livingston that we are capable and imho we NEED to consistently play to that level.

The last thing I want is to have to pay compensation to a manager so I really want us to be successful until the end of the season and would even accept draws as it is points that could be vital to us in the long run.

  11. Where the hell do we go from here because, apart from a rich owner buying the club or investing in the club, i have I'm stumped!!

I see on Twitter from the Narey geezer that there are projects such as a battery farm (which he isn't confident will get planning approved) and other projects and one of the replies was that supposedly Roy McGregor's bro was being muted. last

The last thing this club needs is administration or another relegation so hopefully we can pull away from that which then gives us no need to sack the management team which would be a plus.

For a guy that is a natural in silence I really hope Mr Gardiner has ideas and not crap ones like the concerts!

I am deeply concerned now though I know it's part and parcel of football now, I'm fairly certain we aren't the only club in this situation!

  12. Some **** on pie and bovril has said that JAMES MCARTHUR is being lined up in a player/manager role for next season so that shows the type of morons that post on that forum!

Some on here seem to have a dislike for me but I'm not as moronic as anyone on that forum, no wonder I prefer this forum to there!

  13. I know this may be risky but its worked in the past.

I'd appoint a rookie manager looking to become a manager for the first time if he has an experienced assistant with him.

Our away form is better than our home form, and we are due a win against Hamilton.

I may be insane but I’m quietly confident.

You just know this will happen and we'll be stuck with Dudds a bit longer!

Hopefully talks taking place with a number of those about to be out of contract, especially Allardice, Deas, Devine, Mckay and Samuels. The youngsters deserve more time too, possibly also Shaw.

Doran, Sutherland and Walsh are tougher calls: all depends realistically how fit they can be and what we can expect them to contribute.

This may sound extremely harsh and highlight why I'm not a manager etc lol but I totally disagree with that! I would be making all of them sweat until performances start to improve and they prove their good enough to play for this club and tbh that might actually make them try harder or play to their potential as they will effectively be on trial for the foreseeable.

If that leads to us needing a complete rebuild in the summer then so be it though we've managed to successfully do that in the past so no reason why we can't again with a new manager at the helm HOPEFULLY.

Feel free to shoot me down lol but please be kind and respectful to my opinions 😛.

I would honestly say that is the worst Hamilton team I've ever seen. Our u18s competed better against them and actually created more chances than we did today. I will be amazed if Dodds is still in charge come Monday. Enough is enough

If he's still in a job come Tuesday then fans NEED to vote with their feet until our incompetent board get it into their thick skulls that this just isn't acceptable!!!!!!!

Dudds, GET OUT MY CLUB NOW 😡😡😡😡!

  17. I am probably the most optimistic person on this whole forum lol just behind you IHE, I'm so glad your back posting as I really enjoy your banter/craic etc 😛

Before Livi I was a 4 and that's based on our inconsistentcy.

Now I am a 7 and that is based on excellent we were on Saturday so I am a bit more optimistic that we can maintain our push for the play offs and at a push automatic promotion.

Hope that satisfies you IHE :D.

  18. I have started this thread to post any deadline day news though it could end up being one that has next to 0 comments lol if we don't sign anybody else.

I think we do need another Striker which could be doable now that we have loaned out a few youngsters and also George Oakley has left so there is money there, likely for a loan move. Which takes me nicely on to the rumour right at the start of January where we were linked with Celtic youngster Joey Dawson, though that's gone quiet since that rumour was first reported.

Anyway, I see David Sutherland has mentioned on our fan view section of the Press and Journal that he will be keeping an eye on any news tomorrow so maybe he anticipates one more addition too 😛.

Fwiw, if we don't sign anyone else then I won't grumble as it can't be too long until we get more players back from injury :ictscarf:

Oh and feel free to contribute to this thread though I'd appreciate you guys going easy on me 🤣.

  19. You make a good point Dougal, I like this forum and always have a check on it at around this time of night though I don't always post on it, mainly as I don't want to unnecessarily fall out with members and mods on here as has happened in the past.

Tbh I have watched a lot more Rugby this past couple of years, in fact I've watched more Rugby this past fortnight than football, I didn't even watch the world cup apart from bits here and there and also, the new Tennis season is in full swing now so I always watch that especially this time of the year when it's in Australia :).

I want to wish all a Happy New year and am making this promise: This year I'm going to try very hard to not fall out with members and try to get liked more 😁, I have a comedic sense of humour which I'd like you peeps to see lol.
