    Charlie's Angels help Little Angels

      Teaser Paragraph:
gretna_fcHow do you bring something good out of something bad?  All it takes is the seed of an idea, a few nutty ladies and a phone call - then before you know it good deeds are being done and fans are spreading hands across not only the divide of teams, but across the divide of leagues.
'What am I on about? - Probably best I start at the beginning...... It all started back on January the 13th (ironically a Friday) when the club officially announced that Craig Brewster had resigned from his Managers position with ICT to take up the position offered by Dundee United. In among all the ranting and raving that accompanies such events a couple of concerns were raised about what the ladies were to now do with their "Brewster's Babe" T-Shirts and what they should be replaced with.  This was talked around in circles for a while until Charlie Christie was appointed as the new manager and the idea of "Charlie's Angels" was born. gretna_fc This also coincided with Brooks Mileson (Gretna chairman) making a radio appearance on "Off The Ball".  During his interview he invited any fans from any club to contact him if they had an idea for something or if they wanted something and he would see what he could do to help.  And that's exactly what one keen ICT supporting lady did - L_G, as she is known on the forums, decided to phone in and ask if he would be kind enough to assist the ICT Ladies in replacing their "Brewster's Babe" shirts with "Charlie's Angels" shirts and the ball started rolling.  Caley D had already knocked together a design for the ladies and this was finalised, agreed upon and sent to "Crest Teamwear" who Brooks Mileson had made arrangements with to have the printing done.  A couple of weeks later a large box arrived at L_G's door crammed full of T-Shirts in all sizes.  More than enough for everyone who had shown an initial interest.  An extremely generous gift and one far greater than was ever anticipated. Here we had a man with no connection to ICT simply giving us something because we asked and a  simple "thank you" just didn't seem enough.  It was therefore agreed that anyone who wished to make a donation in return for the t-shirts would be free to do so and the money would be sent to a charity of Brooks Milesons choosing.  L_G once again contacted Brooks Mileson and asked if he had any charity which was particularly close to his heart that he would like us to make the gift too and that is when he mentioned the "Little Angels Appeal" run by Gretna FC. The "Little Angels Appeal" is connected to the The Eden Valley Hospice .  They have a children's unit which is currently running the "Jigsaw Appeal" to raise money for a purpose built Children's Hospice.  The "Little Angels Appeal" is raising funds for specific projects such as arranging holidays for terminally ill children and their families. Whether you believe the "Angels" connection is just some kind of spooky coincidence or something deeper is up to you, however I am sure everyone will agree that it is a worthy cause.  If you would like to get your hands on a "Charlie's Angels" T-Shirt please contact L_G either through the forums or by clicking here and she will arrange to get one to you.
