    League Cup Draw

    cis logo Caley Thistle have been handed a home tie against Division Three side Dumbarton in Round Two of the CIS Insurance League Cup.

    Dumbarton have one former Caley Thistle player in their ranks with David Bagan having switched to the 'sons' in the close season.

    According to the Official Dumbarton Website , Sons gaffer Gerry McCabe had this to say about the tie which will be played on either the 22nd or 23rd August.

     "Obviously, you would always prefer a home tie. However, you've got to get on with what the draw gives you and in our case it's a trip to Inverness. It goes without saying this will be a tough challenge, but the players will be looking forward to matching themselves against the Premier outfit."

    dumbarton_fcCaley Thistle have only played Dumbarton once before and this was also in the CIS Cup (round 1). The match took place on Tuesday September 10th 2002 at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium and the Caley Jags won it 2-0 with goals coming from Dennis Wyness and Paul Ritchie.

    Missing from the draw are Rangers, Celtic,  Hearts and Gretna who all receive a bye to the next round because they are participating in European competitions.
