  1. Off to a Flyerat New Central Park Scott Kellacher was busy in the transfer market yesterday scooping up Alfie Bavidge, Chanka Zimba and Mitchell Robertson to bolster his squad for the new season in League1. However none of them started with Bavidge and Robertson on the bench. Calum MacLeod filled in at right back with Oscar McIntyre moving to his favoured left back slot. Paul Allan, Ross Millen and Adam MacKinnon missed out again. The Caley Jags gave everyone else a five point head start just to make it fair. Pretty decent of them to be honest....... or was it because of last seasons administration At the end of the day it was a comfortable away win for the Caley Jags with goals from Mckay, Longstaff and Wotherspoon. We got season 25/26 off and running on the artificial surface at New Central Park, Kelty. It only took four minutes for the opening goal in League1 and it was our own Billy Mckay that scored it from the edge of the box after Joe Chalmers won the ball to assist Billy with his fine finish, curling the ball round the defender and into the bottom corner. Mind you, Ross Munro was the first keeper in action to deny Innes Murray a minute earlier. An Alfie Stewart corner found Danny Devine in the box but he headed over from close range. Midway through the half Liam Sole was denied by Corey Armour in goal and a couple of minutes later he saved from Mckay's close range header. Up the other end and Scott Mercer fired over following a corner and after half an hour there's not much between the sides. Stewart headed just wide of the top corner as the visitors looked to double their lead. We did double our advantage five minutes before the break when the creative genius of David Wotherspoon saw Armour save before he crossed in moments later to give Luis Longstaff the opportunity to head home. Joe Chalmers went close and Stewart brought out another save before the last action saw Murray's shot saved by Ross Munro HALF TIME: 0-2 No changes at the break and five minutes in Chalmers shot over and Murray missed the target at the other end. Alfie Stewart struck a post but we would not be denied a third and Wotherspoon delivered it on the hour fighting for the ball before juggling and clipping it over the keeper. Only Spoony would do it in style like this, a sort of Spoonyerism. Longstaff shot over just after the goal. Dangerman Murray was unlucky as he fired over direct from a free kick, clipping the corner of the bar on its way as the visitors looked to get back into the game. Second half substitutions disrupted the flow and Alfie Bavidge replaced Mckay twenty minutes from the end. The visitors saw out the remainder of the game cutting our tally to minus two. FULL TIME: 0-3 Robert on CTO: Dominant performance until we eased up after the third. Kelty were poor and their defence contributed to each goal, but we had to score. Mckay’s opener was the pick, curling the ball in. Longstaff scored the second with a header, whilst Wotherspoon juggled the ball before calmly netting the third. Chalmers ran the midfield and McIntyre looked good at left back. An enjoyable afternoon in the sun but we will have tougher tests ahead. Great start to the season for the Caley Jags with Peterhead the early front runners after beating East Fife 4-1. Alloa raised a few eyebrows with their League Cup exploits and came from behind to overcome Stenhousemuir 1-2. Queen of the South and Hamilton Accies both recorded 2-0 wins.
