Inverness CT -V- Celtic
Things we learned this evening: 1) Celtic are miles better than anything we've seen in Scottish football for a long time. Didn't need to get out of 2nd gear. 2) as hard as this is to say, the presence of Gary Warren significantly weakens our defence. In the interests of the team and results he should be dropped for Saturday. 3) Brad Mckay can't play left back. I know that celtic were getting joy down the left early on but they weren't getting in behind or creating anything clear cut. Switching him and Raven didn't work and it should have been left as it was. Raven on the left and Brad on the right was the least worst option. 4) we have no pace if Mulraney doesn't play. 5) OFW is the streakiest keeper we've had. 6) tonight means nothing and was never going to. We need to pick up points from the rest starting this Saturday at Firhill.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. What a nice way to celebrate match 1000. Really pleased with how the team dug in after a ropey start, in previous games we would have conceded and potentially folded but I just get the sense that things are changing. I'm sure there was a lot of soul searching after the Celtic game but the response has proven the character in the dressing room. The way we knuckled down and retook control after the equaliser and kept on going after the missed penalty was really pleasing to see. Not sure there's much else to say about Billy Mckay but mark my words- he'll keep us up. Thought Draper was also excellent tonight, didn't do much going forward but watch how many times he blocked or cleared a dangerous cross or ball into the box. Pleasing to see OFW back to his best too as that gives confidence to the rest of the back 4. Think there's a mistake waiting to happen from Laing/McCart however their both young and will learn. Was actually more impressed with McCart, I've a suspicion he might turn into a very good player with some time and experience. All in all a great result and move in the right direction. Pressure now on County?

Full time 6-0. That may be the first game I've seen where 6-0 flatters the losing side. The BBC stats state that Celtic had 27 shots on goal. I would say that we looked like amateurs but at least most amateur sides have a bit of shape about them. God knows what goes on at the training ground but whatever it is none of it appears to be sinking in. Celtic are an outstanding side, the best we've seen in this country for a long time but we are a shadow of what we used to be. OFW, Warren, Tansey have regressed over the last 12 months and a chunk of the new signings are a downgrade on their predecessors. Really difficult to pick any positives out of that but I felt Mulraney and the young lad Ebbe did OK when they came on. I thought both made some clever runs and won a few corners although by that stage it was OK more than a training exercise for Celtic. Two final Points: (1) What's the craic with the floated corners by Tansey. I lost count of how many Gordon plucked out of the air and then one quick throw and we were under pressure. (2) what did we do to Steven Thompson? He couldn't hide his contempt for us during BBC commentary.

Agree with your summary on our forward line, easily the poorest I've seen. Perversely however, scoring goals isn't our issue- we've scored more than everyone outwith the top 4 and only 3 less than Rangers. Keeping them out is the problem and it's not solely the defences fault. Warren is perhaps slowing up however he still has plenty of good attributes, we're just not giving enough protection to the back four from midfield.

Don't be fooled by the closeness of the final score. That was more comfortable for County than the scoreline would suggest. We are so so disorganised it's untrue, no shape in defence or attack. I wonder what influence Brian Rice has in all of this. The downward spiral started the second Latapy was punted and he rocked up. We still have the bulk of the 3rd place and cup winning team and they haven't become terrible overnight. We're now 4 points from safety having had a decent run of fixtures over the last few weeks. Unless something changes drastically in the winter break we can start planning for the Championship. I've heard people say that it would be a good laugh in the Championship but it would be disastrous for the club. We must stay up. ETA: first time we've gone 10 league games without a win in our history.
