  1. All the best you two. Should be all right - you've had lots of practice.
  2. Anyone who is offended by the language shouted at players should try listening to what I have to put up with at every home game. The swearing that comes from the likes of Strachan, Calderwood, Yogi, Billy Brown and other managers/coaches is quite appalling, but I like it! And they're shouting at their own players too, so there!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, great to see so many supporters at the game today. Pity the team let us all down.
  3. Hopefully the usual suspects from the Supporters Club bus will be there, weather permitting.
  4. I remember Jud bought a round in 1976 in the Market Bar - I served him! Mind you, it was only 19 pence a pint then.

    Iain Vigurs

I agree with many if the comments on here. Certainly, Iain has a lot of talent and the potential to be a great player. But he is young and raw. And he does pull out of tackles or declines to make them. He's not alone there, though as Don Cowie is a classic example of an older head who also isn't nearly physical enough for an SPL midfield. Andy Barrowman is another who then goes in to make a horrendous tackle and gets booked. Don't forget there are other talented youngsters who have come through the ranks or are about to do so. Garry Wood has demonstrated he has talent but is extremely raw still. Jamie Duff, too. And then we had another young defender in Guy Kerr who played great alongside jamie in the reserves, and we go and let him away. Let's hope the new management team will recognise their talents and then do something about their weaknesses.
  6. Let's face it, the best striker in the country could hardly be called a "ball player" but he is a terrific goalscorer. And Garry never gets the ball delivered to his feet nor does he get any support inside the box except at dead ball situations. While Don and Dougie give a fair amount of service from the wings, we really didn't see much of the other midfielders in the box. I think we might be expecting too much of a young, raw and inexperienced striker on his own, and that equally applies to Adam and Andy. Give these young lads a chance, please.
  7. I see she's back on the forum. Hope to see her back at stadium before too long.
  8. All the best for a speedy recovery, Dan. Have seen him a couple of times for under-19s. Looks a good prospect.
  9. Lesley, you obviously haven't seen me since I grew beard.
  10. As has been said before, football is not the place for politics and neither is this forum. The flying of the tricolor and the Union jack by OF fans is part of their historical football alliances and, while not exactly non-political, is at least football related. While we could fly the flag of any of our squad with some football legitimacy, we should not be taking our political views to the stadium. Please leave your Foreign flags at home.
  11. The following is my own personal opinion and nothing to do with Supporters club. Three effin cheers. A few weeks late but the right decision at last. The two of them were dragging us down to the hell of div 1. Whatever he was like as a player (and I didn't rate him), he was never and never will be a manager! Would Blackie have gone to Jambos if this decision had been taken earlier? We'll never know. Would he have dreamt of signing the injured and injury prone Byrne? He'll never get a game now. Would we have let Barry go? Probably not. Well, it's time for us all to move on. Maybe this decision will help to heal the rift that was developing between the fans and the club. We've always been behind the team and supported them all the way, but we had a right to hold and express our opinion of the management. Am teetotal for the next few months but will raise a token glass to the future tonight. Looking for the right decision on a replacement asap.
  12. You're quite correct, Don, this forum is not the place to discuss politics but Proctor was simply replying to a challenge laid down. Likewise, the football ground is not the place for political protest. BTW, I have just seen Mr Martin's photo in the Courier and see a remarkable resemblance to my own hirsute phizog. Please note everyone, he is not me and I am not him!
  13. Well said, Proctor, my boy. Couldn't agree more.
