  1. Rory has been given decent runs in the first team in the past. To my mind it boils down to confidence and I suspect given his relative maturity now, that if it hasn't happened by now it never will.

That said, the boy has talent and I'm sure will be a fine player at Second or even First Division level.

I may be wrong but i cannot recall him starting more than 2 cosecutive games.

  2. Have to agree Black and Vigurs. Black can do the donkey work and Vigurs can create.

The only positive to a miserable season so far is Blacks form and the introduction of Vigurs to the first team.

Brewster needs to give Vigurs a run of games in the central position and stop moving him all over the park as he did in the last home game against Falkirk.

yeah i completely agree with you forresjags, brew has been shifting vigurs all over the middle of the park and it's not doing him any favours but he still is showing his class. i really hope brew gives vigurs a good run of games in the middle though because i really think he could be one of our best players given the chance. a lot of people are just happy to stick with our boring pairings(duncan and mcbain) at the moment, im sorry, but people have to wake up and realise its not working...you play your best players and vigurs and black are that. they are the two most talented along with cowie. the first two names i would put down in midfield every game would be black vigurs and then i would base the team around our two best players.

I also agree with Black and Vigours but young Vigours has to be played in the middle as his strength is his vision and passing. Having seen him recently he has definately bulked up a fair bit which can only help with the physical side of his game which previously was his only weakness.

  3. Are Vigurs and Wood not out of contract too? I can't find the story on the official site but I thought they were only given 1 year deals.Yes Vigours , Wood and Jamie Duff who incidently is gaining his first under 21 cap for Scotland are all out of contract and can be snapped up for nothing come January. If our manager cannot see fit to at least offer these 3 youngsters some sort of deal then he is an even worse judge than i thought. Can you imagine what state our club will be in if we lose them along with Cowie and Black. It would be like handing over the crown jewels for nothing!

Every year we get caught out by this although maybe this is changing (Barrowman and Rooney are on 3 year deals??)

  4. What next? I read today in the P and J,Dougie Imrie complaining about lack of atmosphere on saturday. I would suggest him and the players not playing, along with one of the coaching staff take a seat in the main stand and see what we have had to watch for the last 2 years. How any crowd could get excited with the total rubbish we have had to endure would be a miracle. For a start management could tell all the players to acknowlege both stands when they run onto the pitch . At the moment we are lucky if 4 or 5 do it. Away from home nearly every player does. If you look at all the other teams to a man they applaud their support both before and after the games. How many times have you heard our manager praise our fans?Whenever we build up a new crop of young and voiciferous supporters what do we do, threaten them for standing and using so called abusive language whilst regularly ignoring away supporters doing exactly the same.We will never get the large numbers of youngsters required to generate the atmosphere increasing unless the club are prepared to take a more moderate stance and show some common sense. I along with 7 others have beeen a season ticket holders for many years but it is becoming more difficult year after year to justify 340 pounds for the lack of quality football and appreciation for our contribution to our club.

  5. Thank you very much flappy the Falkirk goalie your ineptitude got us a point :rotflmao:

I think it's fair to say we were lucky tonight but I'll try and be positive and look at it as a point gained.

For the first 30 minutes the players didn't have a clue what they were meant to be doing! The 4-5-1 formation didn't work. Wood was left high and dry with no support. We had the usual nonsense of Cowie on the left & Imrie on the right. Vigurs was the holding midfielder (!!) with Duncan & Black either side. Every time Black pushed forward Brewster was shouting at him to drop back. Complete shambles. We did switch to 4-4-2 for the last 15 minutes with Imrie moving up front.

The double switch at half-time did have an impact but considering we were so rubbish in the first half it would be hard not to improve. & Wilson looked lively when he came on but we only knicked the point thanks to another dodgy Falkirk keeper.

Not many get pass marks tonight. Tokely was probably our most creative player!! Black came onto a bit of a game in the second half. Rooney hustled, bustled & scrapped and Wilson whipped in a few decent balls. The rest ranged from average to woeful. Hastings & Proctor were especially dodgy tonight.

All in all much a great relief not to lose but that was more down to luck than anything I'm afraid. Must do better on Saturday

Great post Kencar. I agree with everything you have said and was beginning to think i had been at a different game reading some of the other posts.Quite simply Brewster and his backroom team have not got a clue tactically. For any manager who plays one up front at home then takes him back to defend corners it really does defy belief. Correct me if i am wrong but is that not gifting the other team possesion when the ball is cleared,as well as putting no pressure on their defenders. At throw ins there is a complete lack of movement ,surely that could be worked on in training.Overall i believe at home we play with a total lack of belief which i believe is largely due to as you have said previously, players being played out of position. Finally I had to laugh, before Barry came on he was given his instructions by none other than that master tactician Malky! I ask you is it not a sad day when a natural winger ,20 years in the game is told what he is expected to do when he goes on.

  6. same team and formation that started against hibs. vigurs and black in the middle....what a awesome player vigurs is.

Hey caley p you were spot on with your team for last saturday. Your source is obviously reliable so i have no reason to doubt you for wed night. Totally agree with you regarding Vigours . All our best football this season bar the Aberdeen game has been when he is playing. Quite simply he offers us a level of vision and class which we lack when he is out of the team.

  7. this is the team tomo:

    Esson

    Tokely Proctor Munro Hastings

    Cowie Duncan Vigurs Black Imirie

    Wood

McBain, Fraser and Barrowman are to be dropped from last week.

Will be interesting to see how reliable your source is come 3 oclock tom. It would be remarkable if the back four remained intact after the disastrous first half last week.

  8. I've not seen Esson in a competitive match so cant really judge him but, considering he has a great deal more experience than Mike, I cant see him being a better keeper. If he was would he be signing as No 2 for us.

I think it would be unfair to punish Mike on saturdays performance and it would be a bad hit to his confidence if he was made the scapegoat for that disaster. Drop Mike then I suggest you drop the other ten who started that day.

How many times have you actually watched fraser play this season? I have watched him plenty and to suggest last saturday was a one off is nonsense. There have been plenty of other games he has cost us this season . What is the point in having competition for places if you are not punished for poor performances. Regarding what i have read in an earlier post about Michael being a great athlete, what great athlete would be out in the city centre on tuesday night drinking along with several of his teamates. That sums up how much last saturdays defeat hurt them and the lack of disciplne being imposed by our management team.

  9. Need to stop the rot by not losing first and foremost, so...

----------------------Fraser (or Esson - not sure

    ----------------------Proctor-----------------------

    -------------Munro---------------Hastings---------

    Tokely---------------------------------------McBain

    -------------Black--------------Duncan------------

    Cowie----------------------------------------Imrie

    --------------------Barrowman---------------------

Subs: Esson/Fraser, Djebi-Zadi, Duff, Wilson, Sutherland, Vigurs, Rooney

I think Hastings could do a job in the centre with a sweeper behind him. I rate Proctor but he's not got it for central defence. As a sweeper (or defensive midfield), he could work well. Same old problem - Dods shaped hole. I think that's the basis of all our problems from clean sheets, to confidence to building from the back. All the team has to make for there being no good commanding figure.

Correct me if i am wrong but are these not the same eleven players who started at Ibrox? Only a madman would start that lot again regardless of how you have shuffled them around. How many more goals do you want Fraser to cost us before you would give Esson a chance.
  10. The only ones kidding themselves are the ones defending the management. Wyness Legend, Ralph Milne, Dead Ball Specialist and Caleyonup are Ostriches personified.

Well said Jay 7. Any manager who selects a guy to play at Ibrox when he has not played first team football for about 6 weeks is incompetent. It was not that he did not have a choice. Jamie Duff was our best defender midweek against Falkirk yet he was dropped. Rooney and Wood have beeen playing regularly so you would think should be totally match fit. Who does our manager choose to play as our lone striker, Barrowman who has played 20 odd mins in the last month. Add to this his total reluctance to drop Michael Fraser despite numerous **** ups this season and there is only one conclusion SACK HIM AND HIS BACKROOM TEAM.

  11. Definitely think that Fraser's demands for more money should be completely ignored.

    Two reasons for this -

    Esson is a better keeper.

No other team would be remotely interested in signing Fraser.

I know what i would be saying to Fraser. That is the contract take it or leave it. The problem with him is he believes he is better than he is. I would have thought with the mistakes he has made this season he would be more humble.I would be surprised if any other s.p.l. club came in for him. Esson is a far more experienced and better all round keeper and deserves a run in the team.

  12. I think the best thing about this thread is that it truly shows

just how ill-informed and ignorant the mouthy anti-Brewster camp are.

With the current SPL set-up there is only one certainty for the 10 non-OF teams.

We WILL be relegated at some point.

This season looks like being a close one for a good number of teams and, who knows, it COULD be us.

We are a club who manage its limited resources well -

please do not confuse bad management with our inability to buy success and to attract players of proven quality

at the peak of their game.

Brewster has made a number of promising signings.

To give us hope of success we need a support who will get behind the manager and players

giving them encouragement and a bit of belief.

What we do not need is a support who call for the managers head at every defeat

or a support who boo their team off the field on a day when conditions make the result a lottery.

I cannot believe what i have just read .Considering the standard of football we have had to watch over the last 2 seasons at home we must have the most loyal and tolerant supporters in the s p l . 5 wins at home in the last 10 months, 2 of them against Gretna is enough to push even the most moderate of fans to call for change. I would suggest the management team take a seat in the stand for a game and maybe then will they reallise their failings. Quite simply they are tacticlly naive. While we see other managers regularly making substitutions which have a major influence on games ours are seen dithering and when they eventually do we are left scratching our heads in disbelief at their decisions. For example yesterday when we are 2 1 down and chasing the game he takes of our goalscorer rooney and left on young wood who was having a poor game . Even worse he takes on 2 midfielders at the expense of the striker.F inally i do not think the fans were booing the team off it was directed at the management team who show total contempt for anyone who dares to express an opinion.
  13. Roy McBain is an enigma, much like Russell Duncan. There are those who watch him in a game and see nothing positive, and yet there are just as many who watch him in the same game and see a good performance or at worst no major problem.

Personally - and for the umpteenth time this month - I find myself agreeing with IHE again. When Roy is good, he is very good, and he is usually very good when played in a position befitting his skillset. He is not so good when played outside that comfort zone .... but you could say that about most players.

Admittedly I havent seen much of him recently but the only other contribution I can really add to this discussion is that I always felt he looked nervous or lacking in confidence once he crossed the halfway line. He would turn back or look for the lateral pass instead of using his skills to skin someone or have a go. On the occasions when he did skin someone he has looked good and scored goals, but when playing sideways or backwards, he could be very frustrating. All of this, I would say, backs up IHE's contention that a defensive midfield or left back or wing-back role would suit him ... especially if the manager tells him he has confidence in him !

I agree with what you are saying but at home especially if we are playing 1 up front we need someone who can give us more options in an attacking sense . Once again i will say it Vigours has to start. Whenever he has started this season we have looked a far more potent team going forward.

  14. McBain is consistently the least effective player in our team and shouldn't even be playing

Thank you Kencar, someone who knows what he is talking about. McBain is by far the weak link of our starting line-up regardless of what position he plays. He is simply past it. I think he would benefit from dropping down a league at the end of the season.

Oh aye.. someone actually agrees with you so they know what they are talking about! :rotflmao:

Roy still has a lot to offer the team, he is not the most talented player we have, but will give not stop effort and get the occasional goal.

Teams need workers as well as flair players.

It so happens i also agree with the Kencar and ajsict92. I would say the team has more than enough so called workers and a lack of skillful creative players . In his short first team career so far Vigours gives us something lacking in our team ,the ability to play a killer pass. Add to that his eye for a goal i think he would offer the team exactly what we are lacking given an extended run in the team.

  15. Was at the game today. We were beaten 1 nil by a very good killie side . I.C.T. had a very young side out . There were good performances from Esson,Gillespie,Zander and a very youthful back 4 [ exc. lionel] . No one on show put themselves in the frame for Saturday.

  16. from a source, that i believe to be reliable, todays decisions by brew made it clear, blackie not being considered for a new contract.

The 3 most gifted players at our club are Black , Cowie and Vigours. Potentially they are the most valuable both on and of the park. What does our club do? Get themselves in a position where come January we could lose all 3 on pre contracts. Bennett should get a grip and tie up all 3 with decent contracts giving each of them the assurance should a bigger club come along with a decent offer they would be allowed to leave. At least this way the club would get reimbersed for their loss.

  17. My 11. proc is still injured

    Fraser

    Tokely.....Duff.....Munro.....Hasting

    Black

    Vigurs.........................Imrie

    Duncan........McBain

    Barrowman

2 changes from last week . Fraser has made mistakes in the last 3 games and has to be dropped. Cowie in for Macbain, quite simply he offers the team far more in an attacking sense .

  18. keep the same team as yesterday, maybe put cowie in for McBain so possibly one change.

    Fraser

    Tokely McGuire Munro Hastings

    Vigurs Black Duncan Cowie

    Imirie

    Barrowman

Esson has to start in place of Fraser who is becoming a liability. If he was an outfield player he would have been dropped long ago .That apart i would go with the same team that beat Killie .

  19. Lets get one thing straight i am an i.c.t. fan not celtic. Unless you guys have not noticed we are playing in a half empty stadium practically every other home game. Unless we get our pricing right it will only get worse.

No one said you were a Celtic fan :rotflmao:

    He's a Celtic fan :thumb04:

Re the tax. Now that the precedent has been established the door has been opened for them to reframe it and boost it to 10% for next season. The hard sell has been done.

    Weak kneed losers.

Hey smart ass . If the truth be known i was a Rangers fan until I.C.T. got into the Scottish league after which i changed and have been a season ticket holder since then .The point i have been making that you and some others do not seem able to grasp is that it is us the loyal supporters who are being shafted by our own club , not for the first time i might add.

  20. Considering its ?28 for away fans at Parkhead they have a bit of a cheek

And for a restricted view as well.

Lets get one thing straight i am an i.c.t. fan not celtic. Unless you guys have not noticed we are playing in a half empty stadium practically every other home game. Unless we get our pricing right it will only get worse.

  21. You enjoy your view of the game young one. In time you'll learn more and understand the frustrations.

Personally I dont blame Brewster on his own. He's gone out and done what he can with the money available. I do, however, blame a number of players in this team. We all know what they can do but they dont seem to want to do it. Every now and again someone comes on to this forum and suggests so and so is away to Hibs or Falkirk or Aberdeen. Sorry but based on effort and performances so far this season there's only one player who'd interest other clubs and I believe Mr Black and his family would like to stay in Inverness. For the rest I wonder if the top half of div 1, let alone higher than us, would be interested.

Someone, or something, is causing problems in this team. The camaraderie is gone. The ethos that the came through the last 14 years is gone. Look at the warm up before the game. No laughing and joking. Just go through the motions. During the game players spend more time bitching at each other than actually playing. There is no partnerships and there is no reading and understanding each other. There simply is no TEAMWORK. And that goes from the top of the tree to the bootboy.

Brewster and his coaching team must take the blame . Anyone at the game on Saturday could see Black was by far our best player . Brewster could easily have taken his pick from the other 3 in midfield especially Imrie who again dissapointing . Surely Ross has to be rested . How many more goals are we going to concede due to Michaels lack of judgement. Where i do agree with you is the lack of camaraderie ,and we totally lack aleader on the park.

  22. Having had the chance to put my point to the club I am happy enough to concede that, whilst not ideal, the club are fully aware of the points I raised above and that such things were taken in to consideration when making the decision to increase ticket prices.

I might not agree with it, but I at least have a better understanding of the reasons behind it.

Hopefully, as the club and various fans groups move forward with plans to improve communication, decisions such as these will be better explained to us in the future and in doing so help remove some of the negative perceptions we have in regards to the reasons behind them.

Did anyone see the photo in the Daily Record today at the Killie game . Celtic fans with banners showing their displeasure at the price charged . (25pounds). With the 2 stands which are normally full half empty , it is obvious fans have had enough. I wonder how the hell they would react to having to pay 29 to sit in our state of the art main stand. Our board should take notice of the empty seats at rugby park before deciding their prices in the future .

  23. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, prices for OF game have to be more expensive than for other games. It's difficult to look at these things dispassionately, but try and see it like this. ICT are a business trying to sell a product (a football match) some of their products (OF matches) invariably sell around double the quantity of the majority. What are you going to do? The general public is effectively telling that the OF matches are more attractive, and therefore more valuable, than the other games. It is the board responsibility to charge more for the games with the greater demand.

Most of what we are seeing on this thread is individuals looking out for themselves (nothing wrong with that, by the way) people object to paying higher prices just because we are playing the OF. However, truly supporting our club involves concern for what happens off the pitch as well as the results on the pitch. To this end we should get behind the opportunity to increase revenue, I for one am all for getting as much as possible from those spectators who only come to the OF matches. It is unfortunate that the regular fans have to be hit with this as well (although there is a loyalty scheme which allows you to avoid these price hikes - it's called a season ticket - I know, I know, not everyone gets to enough games to justify it, but you get my point, I'm sure).

The flip side to all this, however, is that the club occaisionally have to drop prices for games that are less popular. They did so for the Gretna games last season, and I'm sure they will do something similar if the need arises later in the season. The overall thing to console ourselves with is that this so called "profiteering" over the OF tickets would only be that if an individual, or group of individuals were going to walk away at the end of the season with their pockets full of our cash. ICT is not going to be making anybody rich anytime soon!

What a heap of rubbish . Killie are in the same position as us . They are playing Celtic this sunday and their prices are 25 pounds and 15 pounds for concessions. No matter which way you look at it they are ripping of our loyal and possible future fans . By the way in the champions league match between Chelsea and Bordeaux the prices were 25 for adults and 12 for concessions. Of course our facilities are streets ahead of stamford bridge !
