  1. All going swimmingly at the moment....nearly mid-night in Melbourne and still playing....
  2. Caley Thistle have not approached anyone regarding the position and will draw up a list of the three most favourable candidates after today's meeting (22-Jan-09) at Caledonian Stadium. Inverness director of football Graeme Bennett claims the Highland club will consider all applicants regardless of nationality or experience. He said: ?The process for the replacement of the manager has started and that will be ongoing. ?There has already been a fair bit of interest in the position and we are not ruling anybody in or out. ?We have an open book, there is no set criteria, we are just seeing who is available and we will take it from there. ?We are going to sit down and decide who we would like to speak to. ?We have not spoken to anyone about the job yet ? it is up to the board to do that. ?We have gathered some information over the last 24 hours on prospective candidates and the sooner we can arrange interviews the better.? So if today's board meeting is going to result in three names being put forward then I think they may be: 1) J Robertson 2) A Knox 3) A N Other I don't think we will see Terry Butcher or Ossie Ardiles on that short-list of candidates being invited for an interview at the club.... Interestingly these are the latest odds and the bookies don't often get it wrong (but where do they get some of these names): John Robertson 2 Terry Butcher 10/3 Barry Wilson 5 Archie Knox 6 Ossie Ardilles 9 Gordon Chisholm 9 Willie Donnachie 10 Kevin MacDonald 11 Derek McInnes 12 Steven Pressley 14 Eric Black 14 Neale Cooper 16 Colin Calderwood 16 Bruce Rioch 16 Chris Sutton 16 Charlie Christie 16 Stevie Frail 18 Maurice Malpas 20 Colin Hendry 20 Alex Rae 20 Jim Duffy 22 Derek Adams 25 Duncan Shearer 33 Craig Brown 33 Steve Paterson 33 Bobby Williamson 33
  3. Unfortunately Mr Ardiles knows nothing at all about the club or SPL Football - I think he will be surprised about the salary that will be on offer to him - but even if that is not an issue to him - then if you watch the interview he is talking about buying players in and the way of doing it with our financial resources is not the splash the cash way at Newcastle or Spurs - I think he would be in for a big shock when he finds out a bit more.... Don't get me wrong this is great publicity for the club (albeit it for the wrong reasons - bottom of the SPL and looking for a new manager) as he was a great little player BUT this is nothing more than a PR stunt to get Ardiles back in the shop window for a job at an English club nearer to his home and kids....
  4. Really unlucky - gutted as Spurs get extra 30 minutes to score away goal - Burnley should have been in final winning on away goals after 90 mins - but not to be....
  5. BBC - Stranraer 50/50 to survive Not good news for Stranraer - it puts things into perspective....
  6. I second that emotion....
  7. or Manuel from Fawlty Towers....
  8. Now I see it....
  9. Ossie TV Interview Great little interview with a great character but still not the man we need I believe....nice to see him be invited to Inverness later though for a home game to see what the place is like.... Interviewer: What do you know about Inverness and the team? Ossie: It is a very very cold place..... Absolute Class from the wee man
  10. When the board statement said that 'They could see the carrot at the end of the tunnel' they didn't mean.... Think he could be a decent manager one day though but not here.... :thumb04:
  11. Wish I was as sure as you, I still dont think its going to happen You may be right but Ardiles and Butcher were both great players but neither have been very successful managers - this time I think John Robertson would be around for a lot longer than the first time if given the opportunity and would turn ICT back into a club again that people would want to go and see and feel proud to support.... The ground swell I believe is with him so it will be an interesting choice if the board go else where....and the explanatin should be interesting if they bother to give one....
  12. IMO opinion there is now only one real candidate and that is Mr John Robertson - he could even be on board by the weekend at this rate and ready to take training on Monday.... Previously I was liking the idea of Knox but as Scotty stated is he really a candidate or just a name been banded around as he doesn't have a club.... Perfect set up now - Black scores - Robertson returns - all against the Jambos.... Looking forward to the official announcement now....
  13. Robbo it is then.... when is the press conference?
  14. Up front at Hamilton alongside Deuchar....
  15. Not if you read this one! From the Horses Mouth The Caley Thistle fans, via an on-line poll, have made it clear they would like to see John Robertson to take the job alongside club legend Barry Wilson.
  16. He fined himself....????
  17. Shouldn't the watch indicate 48 minutes as that is usually how long is played at Old Trafford in each half....or until Fergie tells the ref time's up.... BBC Business - United Sponsor Man Utd sponsor deal for Hublot AIG will remain as Manchester United's shirt sponsor Manchester United has signed a new multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Swiss watch manufacturers Hublot. Hublot, which provided the timing at Euro 2008, has paid a reported ?4m for a three-year partnership deal with the Champions League holders. It joins Saudi Telecom, Budweiser, and Seoul Metropolitan Government as sponsors who have committed themselves to Manchester United this season. The Swiss firm will now have its brand name around Old Trafford stadium. United's shirt sponsor AIG has recently been, in effect, nationalised by the US Federal Reserve. AIG required an $85bn (?52bn) loan last month from the US central bank in order to avoid financial collapse in the face of the global credit crisis. At the time, United refused to comment on whether AIG's plight endangered any sponsorship money it might be owed by the giant US insurer. After signing the Hublot deal, Man Utd chief executive David Gill said: "We are delighted to welcome such a prestigious partner as Hublot to the Manchester United family." Jean-Claude Biver, chief executive of Hublot, said it was "an extraordinary partnership for Hublot". Hublot was founded in 1980 by Carlo Crocco. As part of the sponsorship deal, the luxury watchmaker is to produce a Red Devil watch, with a 45-minute counter - the time of a half of play in football.
  18. A statement just released by the board.... "We can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel"
  19. Graham Roberts
  20. It is a good appointment for them - I will be interested to see how they progress under his tenure....
  21. I agree - mostly likely interviewed by his agent - we will probably see him at an English Div 1 or 2 side fairly soon....
  22. This is what the 9/2 shot had to say after his team's 1-0 defeat to Queens Park last night - a spade is a spade in his book - none of this we played well and were unlucky for wee Neale.... "That was utter garbage tonight."
  23. Alex - I had a similar thought but now thinking about it more I can only see him getting a first team role under whoever comes in....but is someone from the inside with the right credentials....one for the future....
  24. Didn't see that one coming - hopefully it will be the same with a new striker....
  25. Interestingly no mention of Butcher in that article. Relevant?
