  1. Disagree with the comments about Samuels. He was making good runs but not receiving the ball at the right time. A better cross from Henderson just on half time would have given Samuels a tap in. Think he does need to get a goal to boost his confidence but he played bis part last night.

  2. Comfortable win in the end against a poor Arbroath team. Poor refereeing again with Arbroath players trying to con the referee into giving fouls by screaming in agony and rolling about when tackled then getting up and running about as normal. Shaw got booked as a result of that. Thought Henderson's red card was a bit harsh and the ref was very quick to red card him.

I think some people miss the point that we spent £840k more than we had last season and still failed to get promoted.

Apparently losses for this season will make £840k look like pocket change, and we're even further off the mark!

We can't even cheat properly!  Does financial fair play count in the Championship?

There are only three real ways out of this.

We get promoted so huge increase in revenues

More people come to watch us on a permanent basis (many more)

We have to go part time or hybrid full/part time

None are very palatable and the first two probably unachievable this season. Only more support from the people of Inverness will prevent the third.

Agree with all of that (as usual) other than Carson’s booking. He deserved it and his annoyance at it was as he knew he’d messed up rather than being upset with a harsh award.

Nonsense Robert, Carson won the ball and Armstrong then rolled in agony. Within seconds, he was up and running again though. Minimal contact from Carson and a totally undeserved booking. Ref looked out of his depth at times.

  5. If anyone seriously thinks opening the North stand would have boosted the attendance, they are kidding themselves. I think there were certainly more than the 800 plus crowd announced but probably no more than a 1000/1200.

The sad fact of life is that the people of Inverness just have no connection to the club and only attend for "big" games. We have our core of around 2000 fans but rarely does that increase. Even Dunfermline and Falkirk in the league below us will get better crowds than us. How we solve the conundrum of getting more people to attend, I don't know but it does strike me that a lot of posters on here and Pie and Bovril find it easier to give reasons not to attend than actually go to games.

Oh, and for the record, I was one of the fans in the main stand on Tuesday shouting for Dodds to go so not a happy clapper.

We could win every game between now and the end of the season and I don't think it would make me feel any different.

ICT has become a hollow, soulless club.  The football is not entertaining, the feeling of being a part of things has gone and watching so many people off the pitch stealing a wage is unbearable.

I really despair when I see posts like this. Supporters support the team and should do so. By all means have a go at the manager (I didn't want him either) or the board but the team on the pitch needs supported, not by far ns staying away. You don't go to football matches with a guarantee of entertainment but some fans seem to think that is their right. The players do, by and large, seem to be playing for the team hence they should have our support. We are no longer a Premier league team and some fans need a reality check on that. We are a Championship quality team and that is unlikely to change soon.

Key to next season is getting the right manager in.

  7. Must have watched a different game to you as draw was a fair result. QP had the 2 best chances but not through any creative play, but poor defending. Their keeper had two outstanding saves to keep them in it. For all Queens midfield play, they created few clear chances unlike ourselves. Some of our best football played this season today

  8. Let's get real here, Dodds won't be sacked until his contract is up or we are in real danger of being relegated. Don't think relegation is likely at all.

Injuries have impacted on our performances this season and nobody can seriously dispute that. However, Dodds needed to change tactics and set us up as being hard to beat with the players he had available. He didn't however, just like last season when we had our bad run and he kept on playing the same way even when obvious it wasn't working. He is either too stubborn to listen to criticism or just plain stupid tactically with my money on the latter.

Promotion has probably gone this season again thanks to Dodd's ineptitude again so we need to change both him and the current coaching team as soon as is financially possible.

  9. With the exception of the Hamilton game, and I'm only talking about home games as those are the only ones I attend, we have played some decent stuff this season. A bit mystified why some posters think this is the worst ever team, it isn't by a long chalk, and when you consider the injuries we have, that's not a bad achievement.

Against Arbroath and Ayr, we have played some good football despite what some on hear state, but mistakes have cost us dearly in both games. With just a small bit of luck, we would have had 6 points. We are not playing too badly in the games I have attended but really need a bit of luck to go for us.

    Hi Mr Mantis

Thanks for the warm welcome back not going to lie I ain’t been to a game since the pandemic but I can see myself making the odd appearance this season when I can be bothered.

I agree the folk you spoke about in 1994 never had any foresight other than personal gain hell mend them, the fact that this subject still lingers on 28 years later on albeit on Facebook pages  as you put it anyway speaks volumes.

Great shame the pyramid system never came to light back then as there would have been no need for such merger/murder etc

The Inverness football fraternity have body swerved the new club from day one and continue to do so, the dwindling numbers now attending is the proof in the pudding.

108 years of proud tradition poured down the drain to suit a minority

    Caledonian Fc RIP

Moving forward they should do a Ferranti thistle/Meadowbank rebrand I suggest it’s time to lose the CT and replace with City or United

Along with different neutral coloured strips and badge changes the club has still a chance to grow but not in the current form.

Absolute bollocks as are most of your posts,  and I know I shouldn't bite. Both clubs were dying on their feet at the time of the merger and the "locals"  weren't exactly rushing in their hordes to attend matches.  I know plenty people who previously went to Caley and Thistle matches and now support ICT.  I myself was a season ticket holder at Thistle  and gave probably missed no more than 20 home ICT matches since formed.

If you're so bitter about the demise of Caley,  find a forum that will listen to your nonsense as it shouldn't be this one.

What utter utter nonsense. This does kinda make me think you haven't even been to the stadium. Hopefully you will take your last paragraph to heart and follow your own advice.

  12. As someone has already said, it is generally the promoter that takes the hit in something like this so don't think this impacts on the club financially. This just looks like another of the anti club/board rants by the original poster who appears to have a huge dislike for the club.

Couldn’t make the game today but we couldn’t have been getting overrun in midfield that much if the game ran according to BBC match stats? 92F9C354-D8A4-4032-9F7D-01191391BDA6.thumb.png.2f7625fcd57b904b94d38a2c3ca3269e.png

We were most definitely overrun in midfield, a common issue last season in our disastrous mid season slump. Not really addressed by Dodds today although we did improve whem Billy and Samuels came on. Think those 2 will be our regular front pairing.

I agree, our goal was excellent. Good play by Oakley to put Shaw free and a great cross for MacGregor to score with a rare header.

Cove’s equaliser came when we were temporarily down to ten as Duffy took a heavy knock and we seemed disorganised at the back as a result and it was too easy for the Cove player to hit the target.

Cove had the best of the early part of the second half but we finished more strongly.

I felt we just about shaded it but a draw was probably fair enough. It was good to at least win on penalties.

Unfortunately that was not enough and we will be unseeded in the draw.

I was disappointed with Cove’s approach. They approached the match in a cynical manner, trying to buy free kicks with play acting. They also tried to run the clock down when even. We have enough teams like that in the Championship already and I had expected more from them. I think our medical staff had to give treatment to players at least four times, generally due to the aggression of Cove.

Some of their big names were worst, such as Logan and Fyvie, so justice was done when Fyvie‘s penalty was saved by Ridgers.

Shortly after Samuels was harshly booked, a Cove player blatantly dived to try to get him sent off. The ref gave a foul but at least did not produce a red card.

Of the new signings, I thought Oakley’s holding up play and distribution was good. Shaw was lively and could develop into an important player for us. Delaney is a calm defender despite playing on the wrong side for a left sided defender. Boyd had a couple of efforts when he came on.

At times it felt like a pre-season game again, so hopefully when the league starts next week we get if you a winning start.

The squad looks decent but we need to tighten up a bit and ensure we score when on top.

Hopefully Devine is nearly ready to be part of the squad. Is there any update on Ram or Welsh?

Pretty fair assessment Robert. Only thing I would add is that we were sloppy with our passing especially in the second half which gave Cove several opportunities. As Robert said, we finished strongly and should have won the game, Boyd was quite impressive when he came on.

Poor referee who bought the play acting by several Cove players especially Ligan, Fyvie, Megginson and the number 3 whose ridiculous reaction to a Samuel's tackle got Samuels booked.

I also think the game showed Dodds poor tactical nous. We were getting overrun in midfield and he took far too long to get this changed. This is what happened last season as well so he needs to start learning from his mistakes quickly.

There seems to be this delusional misconception among a lot of our support that we somehow reached the play offs and the play off finals by playing great football and showing some kind of gritty character.  The truth is that we finished 3rd in the poorest Championship we've seen in a long time, with a points total that would have struggled to find 5th place in previous seasons.

I celebrated our wins as much as anyone else and I'll be over the moon if we stick it to St Johnstone, but let's not kid ourselves that this squad or the manager is anything special.

The main aim this season was to get promoted. Of course we haven't played well at times this season but we've got a chance which we would have bitten your hand off for at the start of the season. If we do win and get promoted, then the team will need radical surgery but this really isn't the time for a post like this as I think most fans can see we aren't a team of world beaters but the team are giving their all for the cause.

  16. Much better performance today helped hugely by the change in formation which should have happened weeks ago. By not playing with two out and out wide men, we looked much more solid in midfield and defence. Thought Shane played well and Duffy was immense when he came on winning every header.

Arbroath are a very aggressive and niggly team and were aided in this by yet another abysmal refereeing performance littered with inconsistent decisions. At least it didn't affect the result and I can enjoy a Saturday night for a change.

  17. Quite simply, Dodds has to go. I didn't think he was the right man for the job when appointed and said so on this forum. I also said that while I would give him my support, I thought he was poor tactically and have sadly been proved correct. It has been obvious for weeks that our formation, two men playing wide, wasn't working and left the midfield exposed and overrun at times. The formation worked when we had our strongest team on the park, including Gardyne, who saved us in a lot of the early games. We haven't had our strongest team available for a long time due to injuries and the Gardyne situation but the tactics have remained the same despite results showing it wasn't working.

There also appears to be a total lack of leadership on the field at times from the experienced players similar to a lack of leadership from Dodds perhaps. The club took the lazy, and probably cheap option, in employing Dodds and our board and CEO are culpable on this. Do we actually still have a board/CEO by the way as they seem totally invisible at the moment. If no visible signs of improvement in the next two games, I have to seriously consider attending any more games this season, and as a season ticket holder for over 20 years, this would be hard. I honestly think our club has become a complete shambles and we need a long term plan on how we change things.

On one view, a point away from home against the current form team in the league could have been a decent result.

However, our second failure this season to capitalise on a numerical advantage is very disappointing indeed, especially as today's faiure enabled Kilmarnock to close the gap on us.

The five points squandered against ten man Hamilton Accies and ten man Raith Rovers could well prove to be the difference between gaining promotion this season or not.

    That's not good enough.

Didn't see the match but cannot agree with your assumption that playing against 10 men and not winning isn't good enough. It is not always the advantage people think it is if the other team is well organised which both Raith and Hamilton were against us.  Hamilton were also 2 goals up when their player was sent off. Its a different story if the team with eleven men score first as then you usually see them winning but it isn't always the advantage some people think it is.

Kevin Mcnaughton barely played for us, I sincerely hope Broadfoot manages more than 14 games in the coming season.😏

That was because he received a serious injury playing for us, which effectively ended his career. Had he not got injured, I'm sure he would have been successful for us so not sure what point you are trying to make here unless you want Broadfoot to get a serious injury?

The First Minister has today confirmed the maximum number for crowds seated outside will rise to 2,000 from next Monday 19th July.

With a further easing, possibly to full capacity, due on 9th August, the signs are that we will all be able to enjoy almost a full season much closer to normal.

I hope so but will only consider it normal when I get my normal seat back in the main stand. Don't think that will be happening any time soon though.

Jury is out on this one. Experience yes, but then I look at the other clubs around us and see their younger signings that I suspect will give him the run around. I hope to be proven wrong and it is indeed an inspired signing. Time will tell.

My other worry is building a squad with one year contracts in the hope of promotion doesn't bode well. If we do get promoted then we will be rebuilding again and trying to do that whilst trying to stay in the Prem. It feels a bit short sighted. Don't think we would survive a yo-yo two seasons.

It's one player on a one year deal and, for someone of his age, that seems sensible. Haven't seen anything about club going down the short term contract route again so not sure why you feel this is a concern.
