  1. From 11 games to go we have now managed 4 points, last time around we managed 0 points. Dundee last time managed 2 and this time round they are on 1. Thats a 3 point improvement already and still 9 games to go.e.

    Eh?

Sorry if i didn't quite explain it properly, I just meant that from our remaining 11 matches, last time around (against all those other clubs earlier in the season at the same grounds) we managed 0 points and we are already 4 points higher than we were last time. As we were beaten by Queens and County both but this time we managed results. Dundee on the other hand are even worse off than last time.

Right, I think I get it. But it's pretty irrevelant comparing results now with the same round of games some time ago. Current form is far more important, and on current form Dundee will be lucky to finish 4th, while ICT, County and Dunfermline will be contesting the title.

  3. Totally agree. That was just a bit of fun really.

Still, Dundee have 2 wins from their last 9 games. We have closed the gap on them by 8 points in the last 7 games. I'm probably more worried about County and Dunfermline than I am about Dundee TBH.

  4. I would have to say I endorse Doofersdad's criticism of the 5 day forecast which I believe the BBC simply get from the Met Office. It is disastrously inaccurate. Over New Year I did an analysis of what they were saying about various days during the 5 preceding days. The variation through these 5 days in what they were predicting for, say, January 4th, was incredible and often way different from what ultimately transpired. For instance it is quite capable of ranging from predicting heavy snow to bright sunshine and what you get on the day is thick cloud. Similarly temperature predictions of -6 to +4 typically end up at zero. You really have to wonder if it is worth making forecasts like that public if that is the current capability of meteorological science and they so signally fail to predict what the weather is actually going to be like. I know that Tommy gets extremely annoyed about the unreliability of these forecasts in a situation where he needs accuracy.

Charles, the BBC seem to be using an observation station at Aviemore for the 5-day forecast for the Inverness area, at least that's what the website says. No wonder it's inaccurate...Aviemore is between 23 and 30 miles from Sneck depending on whether you are a crow or a vehicle driver, and much higher too.

  5. And then they probably have to deal with compulsive whingers like Mr 23... such as folk with season tickets complaining that they couldn't benefit from the free tickets.

As far as I am concerned, this thread boils down to:-

    * Darren's original request for help.

    * Tabitha's follow up to that.

    * And Alex's very timely and well worded reminder that the thread was conceived as a plea for help and not a discussion on the merits of volunteering.

As for MOST of the rest... well nothing surprises me on here these days.....

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Charles, that's the benefits of a traditional education...even when you're p1ssed on Hogmanay/New Year's Day you can still spell and grammaticise perfectly!

  6. Good article, and as expected most of the punters predict a Dundee win. They must be overlooking the fact that Dundee are rubbish away from Dens and even Morton have a better away record than them. We on the other hand reserve our best stuff for when not playing at TCS. As this is an "away" fixture for both sides, I can't see anything other than an ICT victory tomorrow.

  7. So what exactly is this Darren's feckin background then ?

Darren was manager of the Health Club that is now called Bannatynes before he came to the club.

And before that he ran Harpers Fitness on Harbour Road, and the less said about that the better :argue:

  8. Just as Andrew Driver did, he attends Hillhead High School - a non-denominational comprehensive.

IMO people from the West End shouldn't be allowed to represent Scotland. English, Somali, whatever - they're all a bunch of cardigan wearing Belle and Sebastian clones who wouldn't know a football if it rustled their mop-top.

You forgot the bit about being short-tempered.

  9. Anyway.....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay of topic............Liam Polwarth.....great to see him in a Scotland shirt. His dad gave me what might still be my favourite moment watching football. Little known fact - Ian Polwarth was Alex Ferguson's first signing for Aberdeen.

Guess you're talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE_QMNIih7A. Proper muddy pitch too. Fantastic.

  10. Once again, I should say the players visibly responded to the positive support from the stand. It's not rocket science, get it sorted at home fer feck's sake!

The "wide open space" feel to our stadium makes generating a decent atmosphere pretty difficult. We'd probably do better if we played the rest of our home games at Grant Street.

  11. Your mate forgot the bit about overlooking a talented, motivated manager who lives locally and has been successful at ICT in the past, because the power(s)-that-be would rather settle grudges than do what's best for the club.

  12. Totally shocked. Shocked by this deal. Shocked by Hastings' treatment by Butcher. Shocked by how far we have fallen so quickly.

Brewster may not have been Brian Clough or Alex Ferguson, but I doubt even he could have dragged us down so far so quickly. Picking up County's not-good-enough-for-us defenders!?! Letting Vigurs and Gillespie go???

Aye, but let's not be critical of Butcher because he is honest and gives us all a laugh with comments in the press about red wine and aliens.

The way we are heading, we're more likely to be relegated than promoted.

  13. When I went to Dingwall...

    etc etc

I was trying to remember the words to that earlier but its been so long!

Also there was- walking through Dingwall swinging my chain, along came a gypsy and asked my name song. Dont know if it would be edited if I put it up!

    It goes like this:

(individual) When we went to Dingwall

(crowd) When we went to Dingwall

    Someone stopped and asked us

    Someone stopped and asked us

    Who we were

    Who we were

    So I punched him

    So I punched him

    Then I kicked him

    Then I kicked him

    Now he's in the hospital

    Now he's in the hospital

    On a life support machine

    On a life support machine

    Whoh ho

    Whoh ho

    Whoh ho

    Whoh ho

Oh Oh Oh Caaaaaley nah nah nah nah nah

    Caley

I'd walk a million miles, for one of your goals

Oh Caaaaaley nah nah nah nah nah

Hence the title of the Caley fanzine of the early 90s
