  1. 6-0 to ICT.  2-0 at HT.  Rory (2), Caff, Barry, Denzil and Bayne got the goals.  Jim Calder played in goal for Clach for an entertaining 30 minutes with the Clach tannoy man MOTM.

  2. The ICT Supporters Trust, in conjunction with the ICT Social Club, is organising an event at The Social Club at Greig Street on the evening of Friday, 11th August.

This will be an evening with Robbie Williams Tribute Artist, David Donnelly-Kay.  Events kick off at 8pm and there will also be a disco later in the evening.  Tickets priced at £10 are now available.  Email info@ictsupporterstrust.co.uk and we can make arrangements to get some to you.

This event is not for ICT Supporters Trust members only but open to all.

  3. I was a bit surprised to notice that "The Shows" are in town.  Usually Inverness gets a visit in May and then after the Nairn Games in August but now it looks like we're getting another turn.

So what are your childhood and teenage memories of The Shows?

How long did that goldfish in a plastic bag live?

Did you throw up in the swingboats?

It all seemed pretty wooden and rickety back then.

Helter skelters that you went down on a door mat.

What was the daftest thing you won?

Air rifle shooting using guns with wonky sights.

Freak shows with bearded ladies and really tall guys.

    Happy Days!

  4. Yes, it seems a lot of money to hear someone play some records.  Still, such events are good for the area and the more the merrier.

Was out fishing just west of Daviot on Saturday night from where you could hear it all clear as a bell.

  5. Macleod was indeed in 15 and still there in my time.    I spent P6 & 7 in Room 16 with a Mrs Davidson who had just arrived at Dalneigh.  She was there for many years thereafter till she retired and now lives on Canal Road.

I have the vague memory that there was a plaque of some sorts in the pav saying it was built in 64 which would tie in with CB's suggestion.  Funny how you remember these things and can't remember what you had for tea last night.

  6. Willie Hogg - there's a name I'd forgotten!

I learned to fish in the canal.  I suppose it was pretty dangerous for kids to be fishing in the locks because if you fell in you were unlikely to come out alive.  Remember the first fish I ever caught.  I didn't know what to do with it and ran home with it still on the end of the line.

Remember the day they demolished the Dalneigh Pavilion - must have been around 1973.  We had a grandstand view from Room 16 in Dalneigh.  I recall it as having been a fairly cavernous round building with bench seats around the walls.  Outside was a swing park.  I think it had only been up for a few years but it was going to wreck and ruin with all sorts of high jinks going on there in the wee small hours.

  7. The Rendevous was indeed on the corner of Ness Walk and Young Street.

Capaldis being taken over by Harry Gow would make sense as every time I go into the place for a sandwich at lunchtime the place is full of ice cream.

  8. Though I have never had it said that the two sides of Hawthorn Drive were built at separate time if you look at the houses on each side they are of quite a different style.

Why was such a large space left behind Hawthorn Drive / St Valery Avenue and the canal? Was that in the interests of safety or to leave space for pitches and allotments?

One of the things that strikes me about Dalneigh, even today, is the sense of space.  Big gardens, huge grassy spaces on Hawthorn Drive, Caledonian Road and other streets too.  Some of the so-called executive houses built today don't have half the space.  Laurel Avenue was probably the first dual carriageway ever seen in the Highlands and still seems a bit OTT and fewer people would have had cars in the 50s .    Even Hilton, built around the same time, appears much more cramped.

  9. Ross is a 20 year old midfielder who was on loan at Boston last year (that's United and not the Red Sox)

Marrison, a striker, was on loan at Bury last season.  Bury were deducted a point from their league tally for fielding him after his loan period was up.

  10. First Game - Caley 4 Lossiemouth 2 at Telford Street circa 1969

First Scottish League Game - Aberdeen 3 Hearts 2 at Pittodrie in November 73.  Game started at 2pm because of power strikes and it was my first look at Donald Park after he had left Caley

First International - Scotland 3 Israel 1 WC Qualifier 1981

    First ICT game - CT 0 Bolton 2 pre-season friendly 1994
