  1. Enjoyed that. No goals but a real clash of footballing styles.

You had to admire RV's passing. In the first half, particularly, there were long spells where we couldn't get a foot on the ball. I was also impressed by their tackling at key moments when our players were moving into dangerous positions. Our guys could never afford to hesitate or one of them was right on top of them. Up front they lacked a cutting edge.

Plus points for us were good performance in defence where Rosscoe was superb, Proctor played well on his comeback and Gillet did well on his debut.

  2. I always reckoned that with Lionel it was all about confidence. A good couple of touches and a well timed tackle in the early stages of the game and he could play well. If he got off to a bad start, then he struggled to turn things around and could be a total liability.

  3. Some of the Argentinian haircuts are somewhat troubling and the Slovenians not much better.

It crossed my mind watching the Greeks yesterday that if a team that bad can qualify from Europe then how bad must Scotland be.

It's a shame to see so many empty seats at some games. Makes you wonder about the wisdom of taking the World Cup to South Africa and then pricing games out the local population's reach.

  4. I have to agree with those who say that Kenny is a fine choice for the job. He can certainly work at both levels effectively (in the boardroom and with the fans). The real challenge for Kenny, though, is this.

This forum has been filled over the years with countless threads about off the pitch failings and inefficiencies at ICT. Many times these complaints have been justified. Kenny will have to make the club operate better and he will probably have to do it with less staff than when we were in the SPL before.

People often say how much better County operate off the pitch than we do. When people stop saying that you will know that Kenny has succeeded.

  5. Not long back from the final. It's the first Scottish Cup Final I've been to in 20 years. I went not bothered who won. As it happened, the Arabs were worthy winners.

I guess in the eyes of many here that if somebody offers me a ticket for the World Cup Final they will be horrified if I go because Scotland won't be in it. Perhaps I might get an invite to the Champions League Final next week and, if I go, will be condemned because ICT ain't in it. What nonsense!

  6. Ok here is a more serious one - no two - no three !!

Pre season game against Ipswich town - followed by a year long loan deal on Tom Eastman plus one other - and yet another feckin Dubliner - David van Zanten.

Doesn't his brother play for County?

    Transit Van Zanten

  7. No longer a rumour, just heard Charles Bannerman on BBC Scotland confirming it. I wonder if Grant was stripped of the captaincy rather than giving it up?

I seem to have misunderstood the situation here. I had heard this story so often about the town, including from 100% reliable sources, over the preceding three or four days that I actually assumed that it had already been done by somebody else and I had missed it so I thought I had better play catch up with a brief line this morning. However it has since emerged that it was simply a case of a story which was in wide public circulation but had not yet reached the media. If I had known that I might have waited since they might have preferred to release it officially.

Does that mean its a true or untrue rumour Charles?

I think it means that Charles is in big trouble at ICT and nobody will speak to him for a season or two.
