  1. Comparisons

There is a pub in each corner of Brentford's Griffin Park, one of which is owned by the club.

There is a grit dump next to Caledonian Stadium,

Brentford Supporters trust orchestrated a takeover in 2006

ICT supporters trust were told off by the owner in 2009

    Paul Merson played for Brentford

    Richie Hart played for ICT

Rod Stewart was an apprentice at brentford

Iain Stewart went one better at ICT

    I could go on....

  2. Not sure if Butch is into Cohen - but I do know that he was stood behind me at a Motley Crue gig in 1989!

Somewhere in ICT stadium, Butcher is telling a story about Yngwie standing infront of him at a Motley Crue gig in 1989...

    • Agree 1
  3. Leonard Cohen - The Butcher

    I came upon a Butcher

    He was slaughtering a lamb

    I accused him there

    With his tortured lamb...

    Steve Miller - The Joker

Some people call me the space cowboy, yeah

Some call me the gangster of love

    Some people call me maurice

Cause I speak of the pompitous of love

  4. We had a Falkirk one for a while after Richard Cadette and Tony Parks left us for them. Some of us came up on a coach for a game and some of them visited our place. If I remember we both won our respective leagues that season.

Richard Cadette, a blast from the past! Well, now we have Butcher, so get booking that coach!!!!

    Reasons why im positive:

    Scotland Assistant

    Did very well with Well

Knows the Scottish game (and is maybe suited to it management wise)

Seems to have a bit of charisma/fight

Ok, there are some concerns. But any experienced manager with an unblemished record is gonna be in the EPL, not at ICT. (I feel for Roobo but we all know why its not him)

I think that Falkirk will now be a lot more worried.

  5. Wow. 5 separate Brentford fans posting on here at the moment, clearly Butcher would struggle to walk down Brentford High st. That said, I am 100% behind him as there is no other way to be.

It is very interesting to chat with fans from other clubs who have something in common with ICT, even if it isnt exactly on a positive note. Will we indeed see Simon Brown at ICT as Fraser is leaving....

  6. Sheesh. Bee and Brentfordfan clearly do not have any nostalgic notions of Butcher. The reason why Butcher got the job was because of what he did at Motherwell. His Sydney and Brentford days were off the radar for us so in SPL eyes he is a decent boss.

Hopefully, it was just a blip, but im glad Brentford are doing well and thanks for giving us your info on Butcher.

  7. Well done the board. We have two guys, wealth of experience that are a moon tripaway from the other two cowns before. I am happy and looking forward to seeing the team in action and maybe even a wee signing???

  8. We are still here.

Not saying everything in the garden is Rosy but its not as bad as the weegie press are making out .

They latch on to quotes from players and management and spin it to make headlines.

The only team that looks like they are in serious trouble are rankgers. :rotflmao:

I admire your optimism but its a fact that Rangers are miles away from hearts in the financial trouble stakes. You have just 7% of the total SPL turnover (same as Hibs) yet you spend 120% of your income on wages alone...Rangers are below 60% of their income. And you have at least 35m debt.

I am ICT only so no hidden agenda here. My point is that the SPL needs to ask more questions of Romanov as it is my prediction that you will not be in the SPL for another season

  9. I cant see how they are going to survive when their wages are 150% of their income...

They are going to have another Gretna, Airdrie or Motherwell scenario here, but that debt will never be paid off, its a matter of time before they are into administration, docked points and out of the SPL and maybe even the SFA

  10. For me, ive always been a fan of the classy C.V and cover letter, in an envelope with a printed address. If they say post or e-mail, send it by e-mail, otherwise you look like you have problems with e-mailing.

I think the part which seals it is a mission statement or personal statement. Throw in words such as "hard working" "enthusiastic" "driven" "motivated" "personable" and wont go far wrong. There are a host of free online cv designs.

I also agree with the fullname@...........co.uk email, anything else just looks shady.

At interviews i always make sure to be very nice or friendly to the staff at the company, obviously the interviewers but also the others i.e receptionist etc, as they all have a say in who is hired in a round about way. I turn up 10 mins early and make sure i am uber polite, say something like "lovely building" or "nice staff" and always very politely decline any offer of tea etc. as its a pleasantry they dont actually mean.

I always ask a question, well worked out beforehand, and have a good long look at their website, know the company etc beforehand, and find something, a report, website design, advertising, company aim etc to compliment them on, something a little unusual.

I always wait 3 seconds after a question, look down then up, and then reply. Gives me the air of a thinking man.

In the Art of War, Sun Tzu said, "You have to believe in yourself" which i take to mean no negativity at all in an interview, but remaining modest at all times.

    Anyway, thats what I do.

  11. Hearts. How well would you say they were run? Id say run into the ground by the looks of it. For instance...

Their current wage bill is 120% of their income, (Aberdeen have second highest at 65%) yet their turnover is the same as Hibs who only spend 40% of their income on wages. Their debt as of 2007 was 35m with huge annual losses since then.

Their squad has 20 non-UK players, 9 players on loan, and are touting Driver, Stewart and Berra (their captain) to any club with cash. The Chairman is the son of the owner, who is a banker, and allegedly owns 95% of the club, and the board has two fellow countrymen of the owner and chairman as well, so a lot of "yes" men basically.

How on earth are they going to survive? The financial results for 2008 are about due, and then it will be scary how close to the brink they are. Put it this way, without Romanov there will be no Hearts. Fact.

This club is on death row.

  12. As with thee poll, our shortlist seems to be Robertson, Knox, Sutton, Ardilles and Malpas.

I would say Malpas, Sutton and Ardilles are unlikely.

Knox has great experience, contacts, knowledge. A strong candidate.

Robertson is a man manager and a trainer, what the club needs. A strong candidate.

I would be happy with either, and I have a feeling it will be Knox

  13. Interesting. Im 6 months in, hovering around 8th which is not ideal but i had a raft if injuries and too many draws, hope i can get to 6th, we will see. Michael Morton is a solid player in DM, Cowie signed a contract straight off the bat but waited a month or two after Black had rejected and he signed again too. My front line i guess is Barrowman and Rory, but not sure who should be TM or what,

Any tips on how to score more welcomed. I play a 4-4-2 defensive,

  14. He did well at Motherwell, his record his a mixed bag but if it wasnt he would be in the EPL. Fully behind this appointment if it comes to fruition.

I think that as the broad spectrum of media outlets are in unison, then all bets are off. Butcher is the man.
