  1. No manager wants to do badly but imho he has swathed an axe right through the squad, it resembles nothing of what it was, and for that, it will be had to be composed, but he was always respectful and dignified so credit where credit is due.

I can think of nothing more appropriate here than to quote Sun Tzu

"Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?"

  2. Its an easy one.

    1) the flag should never have been there in the first place. Im pretty bemused about the guy who did. At best it is insensitive, provocative and irrelevant to the situation as a whole.

    2) the club was put into a difficult position because of the above person. If they do nothing it could still be seen as "action" through inaction.

    3) I think the consensus would agree that while freedom of speech is the key, it must be relevant to the situation. Palestine flag at ICT game has no relevance, therefore I am of the opinion that the club/steward was right.

This is not comparable to any flags that are ICT related, CaleyD had every right as it was related to ICT.

If you want to support freedom fighters and rail against tyranny, off to Gaza with you, ICT is for football and football only.

  3. Sounds like a fantastic opportunity to develop and gain experience against unfamiliar tactics styles etc. Bodes well for the future.

  4. The Scottish Cup had no sponsor for this season so the Scottish Parliament put up the funds in exchange for advertising the Homecoming.

Not true, the sponsorship of the cup is being paid for by Willie Haughey for 2 years and he handed the branding rights over to the Scottish Government for this year.

An ex-Director of Celtic is the sole individual with sponsorship rights to the Scottish cup?? Wow.

  5. Oh God, not another daft festival. :rotflmao:

As I said in a recent letter to the Courier, now the advertising campaign for The Homecoming has begun, the first of the inevitable string of Nessie sightings can't be all that far away. This just seems to be Highland Year of Culture Mark 2... without the fireworks with any luck.

Quite frankly it's a load of commercially motivated pseudoromantic claptrap... sorry, I mean the "Homecoming" NOT the Cup!

Highland 2007 was perfect. Perfect in how to throw away millions of pounds to outside of the Highlands without anybody seeing any return on it.

Homecoming, well, its nationwide, and its done by the tourism sector to attract tourists so really its just a spin on their usual campaigns. Where would we all be without tourism??

  6. To get back on topic................Is it not likely that some of this 'substantial investment' has been used up on signing on fee's?

Signing 3 players who couldnt get a look in at their previous clubs, until the end of the season...i doubt there was a substantial figure going to any of the players

  7. I'll wait and see how our new boys perform against SPL opposition before making a judgement but, yes, its nice to see some action in the transfer market. Things can only get better.

I would also like to see (hear) David 'Tulloch' Sutherland retract a statement he made on TV about the fans (Supporters Trust) scaremongering. He couldn't have been so wrong and has lost a lot of respect that I had for him.

Yes, I agree. It was surprising to see him say that, very inflammatory comments and completely out of order. I would think he will have to explain himself at some point for that.

Anyway, fan power in ICT has only started because of the isolationist bully-boy tactics (i am aware these are strong charges but there's evidence to prove it) adopted by certain members of the ICT hierarchy. The free buses is the first initiative of many i hope to unite the club once more.

  8. I will take the bait...

I do think that the only influence fans may have is achieving more accountability and better communication. I would be very worried if Brewster was listening to anything said on this forum regarding tactics, players etc, very worried

Not because they be right or wrong, but that no manager should be swayed by fans, else he ought not to be a manager.

    Accountability and communication.

  9. Im a city fan and im pleased that he's signing experienced prem players, before any team becomes world class they need to gel. Signing players who know how to play in the league will improve the team, i'd rather he signed players who know what their doing than signing players who need to get adjusted to the premiership.

Exactamundo! Even Chelsea kept players like Terry, Cole, Bridge, J Cole, Lampard, etc, as to buy 11 players with no knowledge of the league (Tottenham) is folly. Those signings are understandable, Bridges is an experienced left back and Bellamy has pace galore, Parker is a poor mans Lampard granted but these signings add mettle to balance out the skill and flair.

  10. They are going to say the investment is in the wages for these guys, despite the fact ICT probably are well within their old wage budget considering Niculae, Bayne, Wyness, Wilson, Dods, (Black and Cowie) have all left. I would imagine even that the wage bill is much less than last year even with these three new guys. "Significant investment" yet to be seen.
